I'll even go a little MORE Detroit. Does anyone remember Edgewater Park? When I was in 3rd grade I was still going to school in Detroit at a school called Palmetto (name of the street - the building is still there, abandoned, of course). We did a field trip that spring to Edgewater Park. It was the first time I had ever seen the ride The Rotor. For those too young to remember, you would climb into this cylander, maybe 8-12 kids at a time, stand against a wall and it would start spinning. The centripetal force would make you stick to the wall like velco and the floor would drop down and you'd be suspended in the air agains the wall. The Ride operator had a hose.........to spray kid puke off the floor before the next spin. Totally unsafe in about 1,000 ways........it was the 70's.

The TLC network. TLC means The Learning Channel. That is what it used to be, but it bothers me that it still carries the TLC brand because every promo I see for their program is like a document of the downfall of America. Total garbage programming. I think the Jets really are going to get Aaron Rodgers now. Aaron Rodgers in New York might be the most intolerable thing in NFL history. If Brady comes out of retirement (and I totally don't rule it out) I think it might be the Dolphins for a few reasons. The Stephen Ross-Michigan connection, It's fucking Miami, Tua is one hit away from the end and that's going to happen this coming season (unfortunately) and Miami will need a QB to step in and I think Brady would LOVE to have a couple of shots at Belichick and Miami already has the talent. Derek Carr? Well.........the options are going to be the Saints, Packers, Jets, Colts, Commanders, Panthers and Rams (if Stafford retires). I think the Jets get Reogers, I think the Colts and Panthers go young QB high in the draft. Carr's most likely teams would be the Commanders, Saints or Packers.

By the way, Andrea Riseborough's episode of Black Mirror had the darkest twist of all at the end. It was the episode set in Iceland (you know the one). To me, just about every episode of Black Mirror is better than most movies. There's been a couple of clunkers, but not many. I think one of the things that make it such a great show is they don't sell out for a happy ending. I think two or maybe 3 episodes had happy endings.

So, the powers that be in the entertainment industry seem to be upset that Andrea Riseborough got an Oscar nomination for a very small indie film called "To Leslie", about an alcoholic that wins a lottery and loses it all. Why is this upsetting? Because these big studios and big time agents spent millions of dollars to campaign for their clients to get a nom and this little indie with hardly a budget gets one. So they are considering changing the process now? All they are doing is turning this movie into an underground hit and now she IS getting the attention she deserves. There could be such a backlash to this bullying (what about all those Anti-Bullying messages, Hollywood?) that she winds up pulling an upset out of spite. Conventional wisdom would suggest Cate Blanchett is a a shoo-in for Tar, but I don't know, I think a lot of voters might want to give the system the finger and vote for Andrea. Wouldn't that be something?
