I will say enjoy him while he's here, but one thing I noticed after this season is the surprising lack of manager firings after 2024. -
The biggest fear about losing my job would be loss of income, but a very close second would be boredom. It would drive me insane.
-
Sure, but if he isn't stupid with his money the salary he already made this year and previously should be enough to live on. Could you imagine getting even a year of that kind of money? I know I'd be set for life. But I am not one of these foolish people that has to have the best of everything with the need to flaunt anything. I guess I've never had anything to flaunt, but if I had that kind of money I would live pretty quietly and find something to do for a living that I liked doing. If I won the lottery today I would still do my current job. I would just pay 2 or 3 assistants to help with the tedious parts.

Dude played 'em and got his money (probably a big signing bonus). This league takes advantage of these guys and their health all the time, but when a player does it back there is so much outrage. Can't believe he's still on the team as of 9:30am EST today. I wouldn't like it if I was a Niners fan. And if I was a player I wouldn't want to play along side that guy while I am risking my neck, but as far as he goes - he got paid and now it's time to go live the rest of his life, because I am pretty sure nobody is going to ever sign him again after this. I would say The Raiders might because they are The Raiders, but Tom Brady wouldn't allow that now. I remember when Todd Marinovich was a rookie and the QB for the Raiders went down and the coach looked over at him and he shook his head No and they put in the other backup. I think the closest we probably had to this was when Titus Young purposely started running the WR1 routes because he didn't want to be QB3 anymore. He was released after that. I know other Lions players wanted to wreck him. But he had pretty severe mental illness.

but just not Albert Belle. -
So now folks want to cancel Band Aid for "generalizing" Africa? Really? Lets not talk about the money raised from the single and Live Aid and Live Aid 25 and We Are The World. Yeah, **** Bob Geldof, he's horrible for doing that. What a horrible human being. Please people, focus on real problems.

2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason

Yankees-Dodgers-Mets every year with a couple others popping up from time to time. That's all it's gonna be. Maybe we get lucky and get in for a year or two. The Pirates will be ordinary with Skenes and then trade him to the Dodgers, Mets or Yankees. -
Things that bring a smile to your face

When the No Name (That's How I'm Feeling) single came out, our station and WDET were the only one that played it around here. WRIF and Alt 98.7 didn't touch it that first week. That first week it was not on Spotify, it was not on You Tube and not available to buy -- the only place you could hear it was on the radio and they totally blew it. We banged it and made a big deal about it. And the thing that is so ironic is that they both ended up putting it in rotation. Because neither station is programmed in Detroit by someone who knows Detroit. Both of those stations suck and don't pay attention. Couldn't make an exception. Couldn't break that playlist sent by corporate. It's garbage. -

We're quite local. we play a lot of independent Michigan artists and their songs sound great in the mix. I don't know why stations don't support local or regional music anymore (well, I do know, because it takes effort and there is a very tiny risk, and you can't do anything risky ever anymore, right?) Playing Jack White (which we do) doesn't count because he gets played everywhere now. WXRT in Chicago has started playing a lot more Chicago-area artists and it's working great for them. It's not hard to figure out. -

Our radio station broadcasted outside in the cold last Tuesday - Saturday in front of Kroger in Ann Arbor to raise money for Food Gatherers in Washtenaw. The effort raised the equivalent of 1.076 million meals (and counting). Passed our goal of 1 million. And it was really really cold this year, and it was worth the effort. -
Hey, he shouldn't be pardoned, but dozens of lunatics who wanted to kill people and charged are Capital shouldn't be pardoned either. And those idiots will probably get a Presidential Medal of Freedom. When Trump uses his powers to get himself out of jail or any sentence, I hear nothing from you. He's a Convicted Felon, he shouldn't even be allowed to serve.

My Person Of the Year is Karen McDonald, Oakland County Prosecutor for her team prosecuting Jennifer and James Crumbley. She may have started something. She may have set an important precedent.

Have to hope for the Soto thing to flop hard because if this is the cost of top ballplayers, then what, 26 or 27 out of 30 teams will never ever have a chance to land these type of guys.
-
Wonder if any of them tried to storm the Capital and kill the Vice President or Speaker of The House.

perhaps he's letting the whole industry know it. Who knows the motive, but it appeared to be quite planned and targeted.

Just saw some thing about what Diddy's life is probably like in jail - because he's housed in one of the worst jails in America. I was speculating to myself about how foolishly arrogant Diddy was. Not that I would ever behave in the way he did, but if I had heard the Feds were about to crack down on me, I'd have been on a plane to a country without extradition and I would have been bribing the head of that country to keep me there. Oh, I know he tried to escape, but he waited way too long. He thought he was untouchable, and my guess is that he'll Bribe Trump and Trump will pardon him, but the second I heard there was anything was up, I would have been gone. What about all the other big names that were part of the "Freak Offs"? Why aren't they being arrested? People knew about this **** for years.

When you work in an industry that routinely screws people over at their most vulnerable, don't be surprised with a desperate victim or family member of one lashes out. Just read a story about the denial of a life-altering surgery denied over and over because of precise wording -- even after pleas from doctors trying to save this teenage girl. It wasn't United Health Care, but they're all the same. Insurance is a racket and always has been. When guys with Italian names in striped suits do it it's considered illegal. Universal Health Care would eliminate much of that, but we all know that will never happen here. Oh yes, and the Canadian and English systems are far from perfect, but is anything actually perfect? Our system sure isn't.

Scoreboard watching (aka, who to root for this week)
Motor City Sonics replied to RedRamage's topic in Detroit Lions
Carolina almost beat the Chiefs last week. They are playing respectable football this season. I don't like their chances to slow down the Eagles this week, however Rooting big for Sunday 1pm Kirk Cousins of old to go back to Minnesota and steal one from his old team. This morning I am watching a low quality video of the first Lions game I remember going to (I guess I went to a game when I was 6 or 7 at Tiger Stadium, but I don't remember it). The game? Eric Hipple's first start vs. The Bears on Monday Night Football where the Lions absolutely destroyed the Bears 48-17 and Hipple had a monster game with 4 TD passes and 2 rushing TDs. We thought he was the QB we needed. -
Well, another 3 years in the minors and maybe Cossa will be ready.
-
Yzerman got lucky with Tampa Bay.

Ah. Been working at a fundraiser all week out in the cold, I hadn't seen that it was done. I thought he'd get more, actually.
