  1. I switched to AT&T after WOW had too many drop outs and price hikes. I don't bundle and I am a Gigillionaire (as the commercials say). It's running me about $60. Not complaining. It's how I watch everything, but I am considering dropping You Tube TV. I have been avoiding watching TV the last couple of weeks and watching a lot of You Tube, Netflix and other things. TV is basically just for sports now. The recent switch to digital from AT&T did not cost me any extra money and I can upload a 30 minute music segment via .wav file to my radio station's server in about 40 seconds.
  2. Sorry , I missed that they waved Husso. About time. I don't think the two goalies they have now are all that good. Give Cossa a chance.
  3. A new coach wouldn't make a difference? I strongly disagree with that. But, it would probably be a situation where the next one that comes in is going to need to be a bit of a ****. I have seen teams in hockey, as well as baseball, nearly instantly turn around when that kind of manager/coach comes in, but it usually is a short term coach as the initial push will grind on everyone in a few months. Still really early in the season, but where nearing the quarter mark here and if there isn't some spark by then (Mid December) this season will be lost. You can look to the St. Louis Blues from a few years ago as an extreme example. Craig Berube came in and cracked down on everyone and got them all the way to a Cup victory. Mike Keenan and Joel Quenville did that too, but Keenan didn't make any friends (and didn't care). This team just looks lost and while they let a lot of goals walk out the door in the offseason, there is no excuse for being this flat. None at all. There is talent there, it's just not being used or guided right. Again, I bring up Gerard Gallant's name. He never lasts long, but he does light a fire under guys. I just don't know if there is some rift between he and Stevie or maybe Stevie does not want to hire a personal friend that he knows he'll probably end up having to fire. The pressure builds too. The Lions have this city on fire, we saw what that incredible run did for the Tigers and I've got news for you, the idea of the Pistons having a winning record is not all that crazy. The East is weak this year. They are 6-8 and only a handful of plays away from being 9-5. They're 2-0 in NBA Cup play. They have lost several close games and the losses that were not as close, they weren't hitting shots, but they were GETTING them, and they are very young and they are losing close games like a young team does. The Wings are lagging behind all the other teams. Yep, Stevie hired LaLonde and while he would have to admit he made a mistake, I also think he needs to put his ego aside a bit, like he did as a player. It ain't workin'. All you need to be in the NHL to make the playoffs is in the top half of your conference and that's not all that impressive, but they can't even do that and that's embarrassing this far in to Stevie's tenure. I know turning around MLB and NHL teams takes longer than the NFL or NBA, but asking for this kind of patience is not what fans want to hear now, not with everyone else in the city getting good. And for crying out loud, how much more seasoning Sebastian Cossa need? He's got a .937 save pct and 1.89 GAA this year. I think he might be ready for a look. He wouldn't have to carry the load either. Is he injured right now?
  4. The dream of mine is the Tampa Bay Rays move to Charlotte and Mrs. Garrett becomes their logo
  5. Nashville is going to get their team. How crazy would it be if the Rays ended up playing in Oakland for a few years? Because if this deal is dead, MLB needs to decide in 2025 where this team is going and then start building a stadium somewhere, which means there is the potential for TWO major league franchises to be playing in minor league stadiums for at least the next 3 years. Nashville would certainly be at the top of the list for a permanent home. You can bring up Salt Lake City, Charlotte as the two other leading contenders. After that you start coming up with some problematic places like Montreal, with a weaker Canadian dollar (although I have the sense that won't be the case in a couple of years). Portland is a political nightmare. They protest everything there, and as long as all drugs are decriminalized there is going to be a gigantic homeless problem and MLB will not go there because of that. I think Indianapolis is a great spot, but the Cardinals, Cubs and Reds will never allow it. Northern New Jersey has the population and money but the Yankees, Phillies and Mets would block that. So if baseball really wants to expand they have to solve the A's and Rays problems and probably need to start thinking about the Marlins and White Sox too. To me, any expansion in the near future takes a hit if the Rays leave Florida. But hey, but nobody, I mean NOBODY saw issues with the A's and Rays coming, right?
  6. He should have blisters on his arse. Gerry Gallant is out there. Go get him. Won't be anymore complacency on this team, trust me.
  7. Considering the last couple of offseasons, to me anyone better than Canha is bold.
  8. Even though it's a minor league stadium, it's a WAY better atmosphere than the mausoleum they normally play in. The biggest problem is, and I only lived in West Florida (Naples) for one Summer, but it stormed nearly every day. The humidity off the Gulf builds so much it just bursts. Amazing lightning storms (Hence: Tampa Bay Lightning). They usually hit around 3 or 4 pm and then are done within 30-45 minutes, but then it gets even more humid. So there is a high potential of rainouts or swampy field conditions from heavy rains, but I am sure all those minor league parks in FLA have top notch drainage systems. Have they said where the Tarpons are going to play? Can't make them play a bunch of day games in that heat? I mean, they're young guys in top condition and a lot of the Latin American players are used to that, but that's a bit unfair to them. It was the best of all possible outcomes. The only other viable situation, to me, was having them share Miami's stadium, but then you're moving the team away from it's (limited) fanbase. What would the Tigers do in a similar situation? Toledo? Can't retrofit Ford Field (at least I don't think so). Wayne State's baseball field seats about 400. Was the Trop the last of that type of dome, that type of roof? Seems like all the other indoor stadiums are retractable roof now.
  9. It will be Steinbrenner field in 2025. The interesting thing about this, is that the stadium night after night will be mostly full and there will be something called ATMOSPHERE, something they're not used to. This could be quite a benefit for the team in some weird ways. Largest salary on the Rays is 10 million, but the Rays are paying 15 million to play there.
  10. I don't think they're going to sign any left-side infielder. Maybe someone who can play first base, but it'll be someone that none of us care about. Someone ranked low on the list. Then reclamation project pitchers coming off injuries. They're not doing anything bold. They got to the playoffs last year, why spend now?
  11. When are they going to give Steven Moya another chance. He's only 33 !!! What about Travis Chapman and Shannon Penn ? Nobody even mentions Kyle Sleeth for the rotation anymore.
  12. I think all those things are factors, but I think maybe the biggest is that when he was with the Cubs and Mets, he was one of many good players (and he was good), but he never had to carry a team. He comes here and he is THE MAN when he does - he is no longer one of many, he is the leader and I think his mentality changed. I don't think he was suited for that role. With the other teams - he wasn't necessarily the focus of the opponents, but with the Tigers he was and they did a better job of exploiting it. All we needed out of him was to play to career averages and wow, significant drop in 2022 and then off a cliff the last two years. It didn't work. Tigers need to accept that, regardless of money. You can go with a platoon of Sweeney/Navigato/Leonard and get more. Navigato is Italian for Navigated.....let him point the way !!!!
  13. Any power rankings that put the Tigers ahead of Cleveland is deeply flawed. Cleveland beat the Tigers because Cleveland was better than the Tigers.
  14. Yes, the 23rd.
  15. Aging = Slowing Bat Speed. He has started his decline now.
  16. Not sure we should totally rule out Andrew Navigato. Quietly had 21 HR, 22 SB and an OBP of .363 for Toledo last year. That's a pretty decent season. Defense is a bit shaky, however.
  17. If only they could finish........they'd have a winning record, they've been in just about every game since the 0-4 start. Young team, it's gonna happen, but the East is puke this year.
  18. You can watch NBA or NHL games for just 7 bucks per game !!!!!! There won't be any free sports on TV by 2030. Well, maybe the occasional MAC football game.
  19. Sure, they need someone to pair up with him. Goldschmidt could be a mentor. They need something. Maybe Mark Canha is available again !!!!!
  20. I thought Josh Paschal played pretty well against Houston and even got a sack. He should be able to make some noise with Z in the lineup. But next year Z and Hutch? Wow.
  21. Why even speculate on Sasaki, everyone knows he's going to be a Dodger.
  22. That's what I was thinking, Tremblay is a common Canadian name, but Litghow didn't do a Canadian accent and he would have. Of course being related to Mario Tremblay, this would have infuriated Patrick Roy
