2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason

No, no, let's not. Let's have a party instead. Then we go get Santana. -
Great Rickey story. When Rickey and John Olerud were teammates with the Mariners. Rickey commented about Olerud wearing the helmet while out in the field by saying RH "I had a teammate with the Mets that used to do that" JO "That was me" RH "I'll be damned" (it was the season before).

Ryan Tannehill waits for that call

I don't think the Red Wings and Steve Yzerman will fire Derek LaLonde 3 days before Christmas, but if they lose again to Montreal, that decision must be made and then carried out after Christmas. Derek will be fine. He's a millionaire, he will be an assistant coach in a heartbeat in the NHL. But this can't continue. Something needs to change. They need some kind of spark and the easiest way to get it, at this point, would be a new coach. if they lose tonight, they're at the bottom of the conference, right? But they are not out of the playoff chase completely. But if they are going to make a run at it, that would have to start pretty soon. I don't want to hear about this being a throwaway year. Screw that. It's been a throwaway decade and we're all tired of it and there is no excuse for it anymore.

If Tennessee beats Ohio State - that might mean Ryan Day gets fired. I don't want Ryan Day to get fired So I should be cheering for Ohio State today But I can't. I just cant. GO VOLS !

What if SMU beats Penn State at Happy Valley. Would James Franklin's job be at stake? What if SMU blows out Penn State? Is he going full James Franklin today?

A team with that kind of talent on offense should be a lot better. Is cousins done? Seems like someone could use a veteran QB somewhere. I don't know that there is a player that took more financial advantage of their average talent than he did.

Kirk Cousins out in Atlanta Seemed odd that they spent so much to get him and then drafted a QB in the first round.

Navigato is certainly someone to keep an eye on. He had a very solid season in the minors last year. Might not translate to the majors but it seems more and more that minor league stats aren't always a harbinger of things to come. Aaron Judge's minor league stats would not indicate the kind of career he's having. Not saying that for Navigato, but the fact that they don't seem to be pursing options outside of Baez/Sweeney might mean that the Navigato option is there. It would be absolutely shocking if he's healthy this season that he doesn't get a call up at some point. I mean, I just don't believe in Ryan Kreidler anymore. I'd rather see them take a look at someone new. Andy had 21 HR and an OBP of .363 with an ops of .863 at Toledo. That's a very solid season. -

My guess is that Bregman is over estimating his value by a lot and nobody is going near him. -
The reference is that the Emmys are out of touch if that series went something like 0 for 53 in Emmy wins and the Grammys are out of touch for nominating Khruangbin for Best NEW Artist when they've been around for 9 years and just released their FIFTH album in 2024. It's more of an insult to the band, like saying their first 8 years didn't count.
-
The attention to detail that Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan put in to this show just floors me. The editing for this and Breaking Bad was better than anything I've ever seen - tv or film. No Emmy wins. Zero. Emmys have almost less credibility than the Grammys now. Don't even get me started on that. And by the way, good luck to Khruangbin on their Best New Artist nomination -- 9 years after their first album came out.

I think it's delusional to think Sasaki is signing anywhere BUT L.A. -- and that means the Dodgers 90% and the Angels 8% and about 2% left over for the Giants or Mariners. -
I used to love going to games and I live in Dearborn, the stadium is 15 minutes away from me. But I understand. It's so darn expensive now. My workplace has tickets and they will offer them up sometimes in an email. I can't go to weekday games (day or night) because of my work schedule. If there's a chance weekend tickets are offered, I'll jump, but that's rare. The games look great on my TV and if it's a stinker I can go get stuff done around the house, but realizing that going to a game is a hassle makes me feel like an old man. I turn 60 a week from today, so I guess I am.

They also need to weigh whether they will have to pay anything for Mize after this year. It's trending towards no, but I wouldn't give up on him just yet. But this is the make or break year for Mize's career. He had his TJ buffer year, now he has to show. If they cough up 25 mil a year for Jack, who else will they be paying in 2029/2030? That's a big part of this decision. -

Baddoo has such an odd story. Hits .260 with dramatic moments in the year where he was assured that he wouldn't be sent down, but as soon as the threat of the minors came around, he kind of fell off a cliff. There's still potential there, but we can't afford to wait for it now. -
Oh, you mean the anniversary of the last "Moon Landing" shot on a Hollywood sound stage?

I'd be okay with Verlander as long as he was willing to take a deal that was fairly low with tons of incentives
