  1. Just a random observation I made and that is that as of now Alex Faedo is on pace to throw 130 innings this year for the Tigers. I just bring that up cause we all get fixated on guys starting vs. relieving but with starters going fewer and fewer innings a start if you're a multi inning reliever like a Faedo you can end up contributing damn close to what your average starter does nowadays.

  2. I always been a fan of the matching pants and shirt look regardless of the colors. To me it always looked sleeker and cleaner vs. the mismatched top and bottom look. The only exception is the UM home look of blue jersey and maize pants.

Contrary opinion but I'm okay with a black jersey alternate. I think something like the model below, without the WCF, looks great as a once-a-season MNF look. I agree that the old black uniforms looked bad.

I wouldn't mind that look for one off a year either. If we're just talking looks wise and not bringing up our history with black jerseys I prefer this over the boring all gray look that they've been sporting the past several years.

  4. Can't believe it's finally over! Feels like a lifetime ago we beat the Bulls to go 2-1 and looked like at the very least it was gonna be an entertaining season with Cade, Duren, Ivey and Ausar. Now I have never felt more hopeless about the future of the team in my entire life.

Just figure I'd share this since it showed up on my YT feed. I've heard this show is set up at times and some of the items "up for sale" on the show never really were but were just used for content on the show so take it for what it's worth but here's the Tigers being featured on Pawn Stars. They are trying to sell some Miggy memorabilia including the jersey he was wearing for his 502nd HR.(Thank God they weren't trying to sell the 500HR one)

I'm not a collector or anything so maybe the prices aren't that out of line but for me I felt the jerseys and bat seemed pretty pricey for not having any significant moment attached to it. Also Miggy is a big deal here but he's not somebody like Griffey or Jeter who are collectible to all baseball fans.

One more side note, in the video the guy talks about how Kaline's statue has a spike in the glove so it could possibly "catch" a HR. I never knew that, that would be so cool if it ever actually happens.

    First shutout.

First official one but we were shutout for 9 innings in NY but fortunately our pitching staff saved us so we were able to get runs in the 10th, if not for that we'd be looking at 2 shutouts in 8 games along with multiple 1 run efforts. Needless to say the offense has got to be better.

  7. I'm not giving up on him but after hearing what Mark had to say it does feel like the Tigers have lost a little faith in him in terms of being a long term starter and they obviously know alot more about him than we do.

Also he's certainly not old having just turned 24 but considering he was a 3 year college player at a high level program and is now in his 3rd year of pro ball and it seems like he still hasn't developed that third pitch makes me skeptical that he ever will.

With that said even if he doesn't develop that and is relegated to the bullpen in this day and age where starters are pitching less innings and more relievers are pitching multiple innings he could still provide quite a bit of value if he ends up being a really good multi inning guy.

  8. I remember after that draft there were a couple national guys that pegged Madden as one of the guys they thought could reach the majors first from the class.

Atleast one of them brought up the Chris Sale comparison in regards to how he could be fast tracked and used.

Considering we are now 3 years later and he is still in AA tells me that he hasnt quite developed the way the Tigers were hoping.

One thing I found interesting was if this was edit in the right timeline of events, they didn't mention the 6th pick until Seattle picked which leads me to believe they would have stayed and taken Witherspoon.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Also makes you wonder if AZ would've agreed to the 24 first instead of pick 34 how different things could've been for us.

We probably wouldn't have LaPorta(I say prob cause they still could've traded up to get him) who was a key part in our season this year and presumably will be for the foreseeable future.

OTOH having pick 4 in this draft would be amazing whether we decided to keep it and take somebody like Marvin Harrison or trade it for a haul.

If we played it right and the picks ended up working out we'd probably be set up better in the future with the 24 1st scenario but considering how important LaPorta was for us last year it's hard to say if we would've still accomplished all we did last year without him.  All hypothetical of course seeing as Arizona had no interest giving up that future 1st but things like this are always fun for me to think about.

Definitely the first time seeing something like this, them asking for anybody to coach first base brings me back to my High School days where we didn't have a full time 1st base coach so whomever made the last out the previous inning had to do it. Needless to say I was "coaching" first base alot cause of that.

  11. Dude for the Panthers just DRILLED a 64yd kick to take the lead with 2 seconds left. Why and the hell isn't he in the NFL or better yet on the Lions?

edit: K now I know why, they just showed the graphic and this was his first FG attempt since HS, didn't kick at all in college or anywhere else in organized football so he must have just came out of nowhere. If this is a sign of things to come he will be in the NFL next year for sure.

  12. While I dont like the gimmick I'm sure it's not for me or any of us old timers on here, I'm sure it's to cater to the younger audience who may find things like that entertaining. In that regard I'm cool with it cause baseball needs to do whatever it can to attract younger folks.

reduce the size of the lane so big man can camp out more on offense, or get rid of the three seconds rule.

make an offensive three seconds call for any player standing in the corner.

move the three point line back even more, or get rid of it altogether.

    I like this idea alot.
