  1. Dude for the Panthers just DRILLED a 64yd kick to take the lead with 2 seconds left. Why and the hell isn't he in the NFL or better yet on the Lions?

edit: K now I know why, they just showed the graphic and this was his first FG attempt since HS, didn't kick at all in college or anywhere else in organized football so he must have just came out of nowhere. If this is a sign of things to come he will be in the NFL next year for sure.

  2. While I dont like the gimmick I'm sure it's not for me or any of us old timers on here, I'm sure it's to cater to the younger audience who may find things like that entertaining. In that regard I'm cool with it cause baseball needs to do whatever it can to attract younger folks.

reduce the size of the lane so big man can camp out more on offense, or get rid of the three seconds rule.

make an offensive three seconds call for any player standing in the corner.

move the three point line back even more, or get rid of it altogether.

    I like this idea alot.

I would have signed Reynolds to this contract.

It makes you wonder if Reynolds truly was a priority for the Lions or if they really didn't even want him back. Maybe they feel that DPJ or a potential WR draft pick could provide just as much or more for the offense if given the reps that Reynolds got.

Introduce a 2.5 pt line in the mid range area?

Another idea I was thinking of that isn't as drastic is setting a quarterly limit on how many 3s you can miss, not a hard limit but say after 10 or so misses every miss after counts as a loose ball team foul or something? So if you're making them you're rewarded by being able to keep firing but if you're not it prevents teams from just chucking them every possession.

Yep.  I don't want to do anything radical like ban the 3PT shot.  But they need to do something that brings all shot types back to being valid.  No clue how you do that though.

I'm still not sold on Jamo. I'm not sure what the issue is, but he's been largely ineffective. Maybe part of it is defense scheming against him? Maybe part of it is just having St. Brown being so effective that other receivers don't get look. I dunno. But Jamo had only 24 receptions last year for 354 yards. That puts him behind not only St Brown (1515), but also Josh Reynolds (608) and Raymond (489), not to mention Sam LaPorta (889). Heck, Gibbs (316) wasn't too far behind Jamo.

I just don't know if Jamo is going to live up to a high first round pick status. I know it's early... he was mostly a rookie this year and missed time at the beginning of the year because of the NFL's stupid rules. But I just don't have a lot of faith that Jamo will ever be a great receiver.

While the numbers may not have shown it I did feel like he looked alot better as a true WR the last month or so of the season including the playoffs.

By that I mean he didn't just run go routes to the pylon, he was actually running a variety of different routes and making some impressive catches where he came back for the ball. Im hoping it's a sign of him growing as a receiver and showing that he can be more than just a deep threat or gadget guy.

  8. Even when he was drafted people were saying that there was a strong possibility that he'd end up in the bullpen so I can't say I'd be surprised if that is indeed where he ends up. The question is can he become a shutdown guy at the back end of it? If so there is definitely value in that so it wouldn't be the worst outcome for him.

I think I recall hearing that as well.  For some reason I think I remember sarcastically saying they should just move the stands since they couldn’t move the scoreboard towers.

Yeah I vaguely remember hearing about the construction mistake and I thought along the similar lines of just doing something with the stands instead. Admittedly I know nothing about things like this so I don't know how expensive or feasible it would be to just get rid of that last section of seats that overhang it that really blocks the bottom left hand corner of the scoreboard. It doesn't appear to be more than like a 100 seats so to me atleast it doesn't seem like it would be that big of deal to do.

  10. Valenti brought it up yesterday but I wonder with these new kickoff rules if the Lions would entertain the thought of having Jamo back there as another way to possibly get him more involved and make an impact? Maybe not all the time but sneak him in there here and there and see if he can break one.

On somewhat similar note I see the Steelers signed famed returner Cordarelle Patterson almost immediately after the new rules were passed so it seems that teams may already be trying to find ways to take advantage of it.

  11. I'd be fine with Chark, while it would be nice to have another stud receiver they really don't need one with St. Brown, Laporta and hopefully an improved Jamo but I do feel they need atleast one more semi reliable guy to fill that role. DJP is a possibility but I still want atleast one more guy for reassurance.

good luck to reynolds.  i'll never get over his drops against the niners.  cost them a super bowl.

I kinda blocked the 2nd half of that game out of my mind so I forgot about those drops, those were indeed killers.

The new scoreboard not having 4 sides is really triggering my undiagnosed OCD.

Yeah looks weird not being 4 sided but my ocd has been bothered by the whole scoreboard since the place opened. Having the left field bleachers over hang part of it has always bugged me, feels like the scoreboard should be atleast 20ft more towards centerfield so that would've been avoided.

sometime this week I'm going see CoPA's park factors show any correlation to the Tigers offensive output. Haven't decided exactly what to pick, but just looking at the park factors over the years vs the team, my impression is I'm going to see a correlation. I know park factor is supposedly production neutral, but I don't think baseball as game is itself production neutral. It makes sense to me that a poor scoring team should depress the output of its opposition as well because they won't substitute or  pinch hit for optimum production if they are always already ahead.

I'm too lazy to look but I know Copa naturally plays a lot smaller in the hot summer months, so I wonder if in the years where the park factor was lower if the Tigers happened to play more home games in the early spring or September/October? I don't know if it would be enough to make that big of a difference but say in the down years they had 10-15 more home games in those cooler months vs. the summer could that explain the disparity between years?
