  1. I know the two picks are spread over two years. In looking at the Rams draft, they got comp picks in 2021 and 2022 for the Lions hiring Holmes so it looks like the Lions would get comp picks in 2024 and 2025.
  2. I believe the comp picks would come in 2025 and 2026.
  3. Ben Johnson is the sole reason Jared Goff isn't a backup QB or so I'm told.
  4. Ben Johnson reminds me of Brandon Staley even down to their physical appearance.
  5. Looking at the contract Hurts signed is pretty wild. The Eagles really felt confident in Hurts. They put 4 void years on his contract so if he doesn't sign an extension he will count for $97 million against the cap. The Eagles can't cut him really either. The upside is he only counts $13 million against the cap in 2024. They gave him this contract thinking they would extend him at the end and he has already regressed.
  6. The Lions can utilize void years. Holmes has done this in the past but on a much smaller scale. For instance, Bridgewater is going to cost $500k on the cap next year because he has a void year. The Eagles added void years to Hurts contract and the Vikings did it with Cousins. If Cousins signs with another team, he's still going to cost $28 million on the Vikings cap. It's a calculation if the cap is more valuable today than in the future. If you extend the player, those void years wouldn't count. The Eagles are banking on signing Hurts to another extension. Those void years are going to come to roost if they don't.
  7. A thing to keep in mind is that Goff is not on a rookie contract. His cap number will go up but it's not like he's not taking a sizeable chunk of the cap already. One of the things in the Lions favor of trying to sign Goff is that he is older than all the other QBs who signed big deals this past offseason.
  8. Only three openings left. Vrabel is still out there. Belichick is still out there. I think Washington hires Johnson. Glenn may not get hired.
  9. I feel like they have been saying this for over a month. If he doesn't play in this game, there was no point adding him to the 53 man roster.
  10. LOL no way the Lions would be bigger under dogs than the Packers against a rested and healthy 49ers team.
  11. I think 3 is basically a toss up like the Lions over the Rams. Usually the home team gets a +3 bump. +7 is clear favorites.
  12. And the thing is the Lions haven't given up more than 24 points in the past 6 games and are 5-1 and really should be 6-0. I remember how Dallas was averaging 40 PPG at home and only managed 20 and a Derrick Barnes tackle from probably scoring less.
  13. The 49ers may be without Deebo and have a losing record when he doesn't play.
  14. The only Lions gear I owned was a Matthew Stafford jersey and I shoved it in a clothing donation box before the game. I'm over my ex.
  15. Russell Wilson would be interesting project for Ben Johnson but Cousins would be the most like Goff.
  16. The 49ers did trade for Trey Lance. I would think they would just take the best QB available. Ben Johnson built his system around Goff, I'm sure he would build it around whatever QB they draft.
  17. Washington has 5 picks in the first 3 rounds and a ton of cap space. That team is no longer saddled with Daniel Snyder. It's an underrated job.
  18. I think Ben Johnson is going to Washington. I think Glenn has a good shot at the Atlanta job.
