  1. They still have other options if they really want to add even more. Restructuring Goff would give them a good chunk of cap. Restructuring Ragnow would open up a lot of cap. I don't think they want to go the restructure route unless necessary but they could easily fit say Chark and Wagner or possibily go after Hopkins.
  2. All these players taking pay cuts and Calvin Johnson still wants the $1 million he didn't earn.
  3. I get real Eagles vibes from this team. The Eagles started 2-5 last year. They finished 7-2 to go 9-8. They add some veterans in the offseason like AJ Brown, Bradberry, and our very own CGJ. They were the trendy pick and it hinged on whether Hurts could get them there or not. The Lions started 1-6 this year. They finished 8-2 to go 9-8. They had strong free agency adding veterans like Sutton, Montgomery and CGJ. The Lions are the trendy pick. Do they come out of the gate strong like the Eagles?
  4. They saved more cap space than if they cut them.
  5. I have to imagine the Lions must feel Vaitai is healthy now because he is essentially guaranteed a roster spot now.
  6. I really don't want them to get into a habit of signing players and then a year or two later asking them to take a pay cut. Okwara, Harris, and Vaitai really had no leverage because they stood to lose more by being cut but I don't want to make it a habit of putting your players over a barrel.
  7. That tweet was over 12 hours ago and does not appear to be factoring in the Vaitai renegotiation. The Lions cap space is over $26 million now and they are still way under for next year. They definitely have room to sign Chark or even make a play for Hopkins.
  8. Honestly, this number didn't seem bad to me considering his first draft was 7 years ago. I thought it would be worse.
  9. I think it's Goff signed a 5 year $240 million fully guaranteed contract.
  10. Not sure I approve of Buggs being coy with us. I want to know what he knows. Chark perhaps?
  11. Goff's current contract is not guaranteed so you commit to Goff for at least three years at about $10 million more per season. That seems reasonable for Goff to do.
  12. What if Hurts is Wentz? Should the Eagles really commit 20% of their cap to Hurts?
  13. I figured they would reminisce about the Super Bowl they actually won where Wentz would have been the MVP if he didn't get injured. Why don't they draft a QB now instead of spending 20% of their cap on Hurts?
  14. Jalen Hurts is exactly what people are suggesting the Lions do. The Eagles drafted Hurts when they had Carson Wentz signed to a big extension. He sat on the bench as a rookie backup. They replaced Wentz in year two with Hurts. He turned out to be good. He's now going into the final year of his contract. He will cost 20% of your cap. What do you do? The Eagles got at most three years of cap relief with Hurts (not even that since they had to carry Wentz's dead cap). For the people who want to draft a QB for cap reasons. What do the Eagles than do with Hurts?
  15. No I think it's strange that people think Hurts is worth 20% of your cap and not Goff. A QB who has only had one great year (which from a passing numbers perspective wasn't any better than Goff) and is a mobile QB who comes at a higher injury risk and typically who don't age well.
  16. I thought it was about the supporting cast even though part of the reason why we want to replace Goff is because he needs a good supporting cast.
  17. He runs really fast and can throw the ball really far in a controlled environment. Never mind his 53% completion percentage.
