If the Lions are interested in former Lions as coaches, Kevin Smith is currently running backs coach at University of Miami. The Lions need a running backs coach now. Campbell and Smith played one game together in the NFL.
I do think Brady is done this time but I would still take him over Rodgers if those are my choices. Rodgers will cost draft picks. He's scheduled to earn $60 million. I do believe Brady would sign for less. Rodgers is a diva and would probably get eaten alive in New York. There's no guarantee he would be there more than one year. Both QBs are old and decline can hit fast in the NFL and the Jets could be holding the bag. Carr is the best fit. He wouldn't need to carry that team the way he needed to carry the Raiders. The Jets are likely a playoff team with Carr. Garappolo is a good safety net but he struggles to stay healthy.
I would take Carr. I think he's very underrated and played on some Raiders teams with terrible defenses. He's Matthew Stafford lite *ducks*. I think it's likely the Raiders will cut him and the Jets won't need to give up picks. The Jets have the defense and they have some talent on offense with Wilson and Hall.
Feels like a meh hire to me. I seem to recall Bly being more of a gambler and taking risks and getting picks but also getting burned. CB is probably the worst position on the roster and will almost certainly have a rookie or two so I was hoping for more accomplished coach. I really don't want Bly to teach his style to young CBs. I also seem to only remember Bly for throwing Harrington under the bus when Mariucci got fired.
His coaching record doesn't seem impressive. Seems like he got fire from North Carolina. I honestly thought Campbell could do better. If we were going to former Lion route, I would have hired Glover Quinn.
The Bears all time passer is Jay Cutler and all time receiver is Johnny Morris a guy with only one season of 1,000 yards receiving. Walter Payton is legit but it's not fair this team has more Super Bowls than the Lions.
Guess it's understandable Bears fans would be excited about Fields given their lack of QB play. Fortunately for them they can fall ass backwards into a Super Bowl with the likes of Rex Grossman.
He still would have been significantly better throwing the ball than Fields but the point was the Bears dubious history at QB and not about Goff. Jon Kitna would be 1 and 2 in Bears history in passing yards.
Yeah he can't perform without McVay, oops I meant Dan Campbell or is it Ben Johnson?
The point is how awful the Bears are. I shit you not their single season record holder in yards and TDs is Erik Kramer.
My Twitter feed has been overtaken by Bears people and it's insufferable how they view Fields.
Here's a fun fact. If Goff played this year on the Bears he would hold the Bears single season record in passing yards, TDs and QB rating.
The Lions had their shot at Fields and passed and enthusiatically took Sewell instead of Fields. I don't know what Fields has done between then and now that would change their minds.
