  1. You know what city has a significantly higher violent crime rate than San Francisco and Portland? Republican led Tulsa. Their murder, rape and assault rates are nearly 3 times higher than San Francisco and yet you'll never hear about it.
  2. The violent crime rate in San Francisco is below the national average but media and conservatives act like it is some sort of hellscape.
  3. With this new redistricting, Detroit will not have black representation in nearly 70 years, it will be the first time in over 40 years a Levin hasn't represented Michigan in congress, and Macomb County is likely to have no Democratic representation in 70 years.
  4. I mean, Scholten was going to face Gibbs or Meijer. Why is it such a crime to run ads against either one before the primary?
  5. It's a 50/50 district. She won her two elections with 50.6 and 50.9 of the vote. Granted the district is a little different but she still got more votes than the GOP candidate despite there being nothing for the Democrats to vote for. She got about 20,000 more votes in this primary than she did in 2020 when there was a contested Democratic presidential primary.
  6. It sounds like Peter Meijer needs a hug. If it weren't for those mean Democrats who ran attack ads against his opponent, he would have won.
  7. I forgot, Republican does a good thing so Democrats are suppose to applaud them and pat them on the back.
  8. If Peter Meijer needs work now, the Meijer in Warren always needs more cashiers.
  9. It shows enthusiasm on the Democratic side. Whitmer was uncontested. Slotkin was uncontested. There really wasn't much to vote for on the Democratic side. The Republicans had a contested primary and yet Barrett still got fewer votes. I suppose it is possible a lot of Republicans voted for governor and left the rest of the ballot blank.
  10. I think he is a fraud. He was a Republican in 2008 and in 2018 he asked a strategist what he should run as. Since the tide favored Democrats, he ran as a Democrat. He pumped the city of Detroit with ads and a bunch of low information voters voted for him. In true Democrat fashion, the Democrats couldn't consolidate around one candidate. You had about 8 other candidates splitting votes. Now Detroit is going to have no black representation in congress for the first time in about 70 years.
  11. Shri Thanedar won. That's a disappointment.
  12. California has that system and in the Los Angeles mayoral race you have a Republican masquerading as a Democrat. It allows him to make it to the general so that system can easily be gamed. If I have a favorite candidate, I don't see why I would also vote for another candidate who has an equal chance of defeating that candidate. I suppose I could just vote for one candidate.
  13. I guess in this system I would just vote for my favorite candidate and the candidate I feel would be the easiest to defeat.
  14. Liz Cheney is asking Democrats in Wyoming to switch party registration and vote for her. Are the same people upset at Democrats voting in the Republican primary in Michigan going to be upset?
  15. Democrats getting blamed for Republicans nominating a Republican.
  16. I think it works in states like Michigan, but if I lived in Wyoming, I would register as a Republican and vote for Cheney but then vote for the Democrat in the general.
  17. Been reading on Twitter Democrats in the district who voted for Meijer but intend on voting for Scholten in the general. Scholten was unapposed, as was Whitmer, so nothing for Democrats to vote for. I bet a lot of Democrats voted for Gibbs.
  18. Not looking good for Andy Levin. Goes to show the yard sign polling doesn't work. I was in Huntington Woods to sign the abortion petition and Levin signs far outnumbered Stevens signs. It would make sense giving Huntington Woods is a Jewish city I suppose.
  19. Whitmer is unopposed and has 4 times as many votes as all the Republicans combined. In going to assume it's because of early/mail voting.
  20. I voted in the Democratic primary. I was literally the only one at the polling place. Only thing of note to vote for was my congressional district. I voted for Carl Marlinga since he stands the best chance of beating John James. Pretty much state senate and house were unopposed.
