  1. Kent County is like early 2000's Oakland. It's increase in college educated and diversity is going to keep it moving to the left like Oakland. It wasn't that long ago that Oakland was a Republican stronghold. There's not a single Republican left in power in Oakland outside of Bouchard. I'm not sure where the Republican base is in Michigan? Macomb is the only positive for them and even that is a bit swingy. Southern Macomb is also trending bluer so there is a ceiling in Macomb. The only other opportunity is to hope the bottom completely falls out for Democrats in the rurals.
  2. Between Wayne and Oakland County, that's close to 3 million people. Whitmer won both counties at over 60%. Republicans have totally collapsed in Oakland County. While they have made gains in Macomb, Whitmer still won it and it is still a bit swingy and not nearly as favorable as Oakland is to Democrats.
  3. I keep noticing the rurals in Michigan aren't as bad as other states. Tudor was only running upper 50's and some lower 60's in northern Michigan. Only county I could find where she cracked 70 was Missaukee which was the only county Trump cracked 70.
  4. The largest city in Ohio is like the 2nd largest in the Midwest and has a giant university in it.
  5. If I'm going to entertain this ridiculousness of replacing Biden who has been the most successful Democrat in decades, it's not going to be with someone from a swing state that we could potentially lose that seat. I'll throw out a couple names who aren't on the radar from safe states; Chris Murphy senator from Connecticut and Brian Schatz senator from Hawaii. Both are fairly young and somewhat progressive with appeal for moderates.
  6. Ohio does have more EVs than Colorado but Ohio is losing them every census and Colorado is gaining.
  7. I love how they thought Colorado was in play. That state is basically the Ohio for Democrats.
  8. And people want someone else to run.
  9. I missed her name on the ballot because I looked for Democrat.
  10. Her and that filter gives me cult like vibes. Like Marshall Applewhite type stuff.
  11. Apparently there is enough vote still remaining near Atlanta to get Warnock to 50% and avoid the runoff.
  12. Should send a copy of the law to Michigan now that there is a Democratic majority.
  13. Yes, I do believe Democrats will unilaterally disarm themselves. At least we have Illinois.
  14. There was one Marlinga ad. Marlinga is a well known commodity in Macomb County. Democrats gave up the district as soon as the map came out. Haley Stevens lived in the district and moved over to 11 to primary Levin. Marlinga had a great ground game and got some muscle at the end from Whitmer, Stabenow and Stevens, but it wasn't enough. James also ran a better campaign than the rest of the Republicans. He didn't get too down in the weeds with abortion, drag queens, kid's genitals, and attacking teachers as groomers. He sticked to economic issues while the national party tried to make Marlinga into a pedophile. Marlinga was a strong candidate, he just didn't have the funding James did. I think in 2024 you may see Mark Hackle take a shot at the district.
  15. Michigan becoming a progressive state. Democrats seemed poised to repeal right to work as well.
  16. The flip side is states like Michigan sent their crazy boomers to Florida and helped flip Florida.
  17. Well shit, I just realized I mixed up Tammy Baldwin and Tammy Duckworth. In regards to Baldwin, see my objection to Shapiro and Fetterman.
  18. She was born in Thailand and her mother was not an American citizen at time of birth. No way I'm poking that hornets nest with this supreme court.
  19. 1. Tammy Baldwin is a no go. With this supreme court, she will get knocked off the ballot due to her birth status. 2. No way in hell I'm giving up the governor's seat in a major swing state that appoints the secretary of state. 3. See number 2 minus the SOS thing 4. Probably the best candidate of the list. 5. He tried and flop. Good public speaker. Joe Biden has been the most productive president since Lyndon Johnson and has had to navigate the country through circumstances we have never seen before. He presided over one of the best midterms for an incumbent party in decades. Knock this off. He is and should run in 2024 unless he's dead. Even then I would still vote for him over a Republican.
