This trade didn't look nearly as bad as it did before.

It seems like they are sticking to a plan and that plan is to build through the draft. I think Jamaal Williams is the only external free agent they signed to more than one year. What stood out to me in the article is that about 50% of the roster doesn't have guaranteed contracts. I think we are still in phase one of build through the draft and culture change.

Looking at Charles Harris contract on OTC, looks like only $7 million is guaranteed and it's basically a 1 year deal. They can cut him post June 1st in the 2nd year and save $6 million in cap space. The total value is $13 million but not sure if that includes incentives. These numbers are pretty good. They are only really committed to him for one year to see if last year wasn't a fluke. If it wasn't, they get a 2nd year. I was apprehensive about signing Harris but this looks like a solid deal.

Speaking of Banksy, he did a mural on a building only a couple blocks from me. The owner of the building covered it up. Not sure if the owner knew what he had. I still don't get Banksy. If no one knows who he is, who is selling his art and profiting?

People act like there isn't a draft coming up where the Lions have 3 picks in the top 34 and the best players available at #2 are defensive players. They will literally have their choice of starting pass rusher or safety at #2.

I'm pretty certain that cap figure includes the release of Flowers. They can create some cap room by releasing Vaitai. I figured they would have done that by now if they really wanted to.

Don't forget Melifonwu who missed a lot of time to injury. They drafted 4 defensive players last year within the 1st 4 rounds last year. There's reasonable expectation to expect improvement from them. They have three picks within the first 34 picks. Probably at least 2 will be defensive players.

Anzalone signed for $1.75 in guaranteed money. He signed for backup money. He is in no way a future piece or blocking someone better from playing. His contract in no way guarantees him a starting spot. Onzuwerike was a rookie. You seriously talking about upgrading already? Walker signed a contract that would be of one is fine but not great. You also didn't want them to sign Marcus Williams but then say they are just running back the same team.

Raymond's contract is a 2 year deal "up to" $9.5 million. I really hope that is packed with incentives.

When Goff had that kind of supporting cast, he was a Pro Bowler and went to the Super Bowl.

Raymond had 48 catches and 576 yards and 4 TDs. Not bad for a guy that projects to be no higher than the 4th WR. Could fall to 5th or 6th if the Lions draft a receiver. He was also a pretty solid punt returner.

So then why were you complaining about the Lions re-signing two defensive players from last year? Your whole point was why bring back the same players that led to a 31st ranked defense. If they let Walker and Harris walk, they would be even worse than last year.

It's the same argument as the Lions defense was bad so we shouldn't re-sign anyone.

Jacksonville had the 29th ranked defense so we probably shouldn't sign Jack. I mean, who wants a LB that even Jacksonville doesn't want?

I would rather they just continue to draft and develop than go the Jacksonville route and just throw big dollars at OK players. I would have given Marcus Williams the same contract as Baltimore did but it's probably hard to say no to a team like Baltimore and sign with the Lions.
