No they don't. In a four year span, a Republican president who lost the election by 3 million votes got to nominate one third of the Supreme Court and it was confirmed by a majority senate that represented over 40 million fewer people. They don't have to walk a tight rope. A Democrat has to win a national election by at least 5 million votes now to have a chance at winning. Who gives a flying fuck about 12% of the population in California when Republicans just took over about 20 small rural states that have 10 times the senate representation. This system favors rural white states. People in California and New York and Illinois going out to vote means nothing. Their less American than the rancher in Wyoming and we haven't discussed the fact that DC has no senate representation and is larger than Wyoming, Vermont, and Alaska. Democrats have gone out and voted but even when they win they lose.
