  1. I can't believe there are some people who didn't want to lose the 66th pick. Kellen Mond was drafted 66th last year. Some of the same people who wanted the Lions to trade for Deebo didn't want to move up for Williams.
  2. Should the Lions go after Lamar Jackson? He's going to be a free agent and appears unhappy with the Ravens. Surely the Ravens will franchise him at the end of the season so maybe the Lions can work out a trade similar to the Stafford deal where they send Goff and some picks to Baltimore on the condition Jackson agrees to an extension. The Lions offense will be intriguing for Jackson. A very good offensive line, two good receivers plus a potential third if Chark has a good season and they re-sign him, a good TE, and a solid running game.
  3. If it weren't for the refs, the Cowboys would have accounted for the Lions only two playoff wins.
  4. They may just put Williams on the PUP list.
  5. It may even help Chark as teams will roll safety coverage to Williams to prevent the deep ball.
  6. I think it's been reported that Williams was upset three receivers were drafted ahead of him.
  7. The thing for me with Jacksonville is that they threw around a lot of money on good but not great players. It's really the same thing Quinn did but the Lions under Quinn were a lot closer to contention.
  8. Here's another way to frame the trade.
  9. When was the last time the Lions traded up like this in the 1st round? I feel like they traded from the early 2nd to late 1st to draft Best and I believe that trade was with Minnesota or to get ahead of Minnesota.
  10. They're good receivers but they aren't game breakers. Williams when healthy has the potential to dictate coverage. Teams will have to drop a safety back to avoid getting beaten over the top leaving the underneath open for St Brown, Swift and Hockenson. He's a threat even when he isn't getting the ball. The Lions haven't had a receiver who other teams had to game plan around since Calvin Johnson.
  11. Had Williams not left on a cart, he wouldn't have been available. Even a 90% Williams can probably blow the top off of most defenses. The Lions need playmakers. They still have a 2nd round pick to boot with the guy who has made a living drafting good players in the middle rounds.
  12. I wouldn't say pissed but I wouldn't care for either move. I'm kind of intrigued to draft Willis at 46 if he's available but not as a future QB but more of a Taysom Hill type with the potential of being the future QB. The Lions could also be trend setters by going to a more college type system of playing different QBs. It probably wouldn't work but it would be an interesting experiment.
  13. Let's draft the guys who were beaten up and diem the field instead of the guy who dominated them.
  14. It took Matthew Stafford 12 years to win.
  15. And yet Jared Goff has won.
  16. I wouldn't have liked it as much as the Williams pick. Not sure what this has to do about anything. Let's just say, I would draft the guy that torched Georgia's defense than draft the guys that got torched.
  17. Conversely, I don't think the drop off from 34 to 46 is as big as you are making it out to be. Especially when the opportunity was there to get a Tyreek Hill type talent. I'll take that over getting the next Delmas and Tulloch.
  18. They traded one 3rd round pick for Williams. I wouldn't say WR is deep either. Cephus? Really? Except for St brown, they're all on one or two year deals. This is a passing league and you get a HR hitter and game breaker. They'll still likely get a defensive player at 46.
  19. I'm kind of interested in taking Willis not as the future QB but as a Taysom Hill type player. I wonder what his receiving skills are like?
  20. Jameson Williams is the first major piece of the Stafford trade. Have to say, not off to a bad start.
  21. They could still get Dean. I'll take a game breaker like Williams over a safety and LB. I thought they would have had to trade a future 1st to move 20 spots. Given they only gave up a 3rd and still have a 3rd left is worth it to me.
