I'm in the same boat. I don't think there is this dire need to trade a bunch of assets for a QB. Goff is good enough to get you to the playoffs. Build the roster around Goff and wait for your future QB. The issue will be is that Goff is only under contract for two seasons. The Lions will have a very tough decision. They could franchise him to buy another year but I don't think that will go over well.
Roe was just the first obstacle. The next will be a nationwide ban. It took the Republicans decades to get the court in their favor to overturn Roe so it will take time to pass a nationwide ban.
What about airlifting? In Texas they had to airlift a woman to Colorado who was having a miscarriage due to Texas law and the doctors fearing legal penalty.
If you believe Michael Cohen, the plan wasn't to get elected and he didn't expect to get elected. It was more a political stunt because Trump was yet again in trouble financially and needed to build his brand.
Both houses would have been controlled by Republicans. Basically all Hillary would have been allowed to do is nominate justices and handle COVID. She would have done it much better than Trump. Perhaps Russia decides to invade Ukraine earlier since they wouldn't have an ally in Trump.
I wish the old forums still existed because I'm pretty sure you would have been one of the ones telling us we were overreacting and that Roe would not be overturned.
What's there to be optimistic about? A large percentage of young people didn't vote because Hillary wasn't pure enough and now they are stuck with a conservative Supreme Court for most of their adult life.
If a fetus is a baby, why doesn't have the same rights as a baby? Why can't it be claimed as a dependent? Why can't life insurance be purchased on it? Why isn't a birth certificate issued while it's in the womb?
This got me thinking. Wouldn't be murder to pull the plug on someone on life support? Life is life. The comatose patient is relying on someone else to eat and breathe like an embryo.
