  1. wasn't inge a high draft pick of the randy smith regime?
  2. the team sucks cock-o for rocco?
  3. no no, tork is an mvp candidate
  4. Edwin Diaz to the Dodgers. Not that he was coming here or anything but one name off the board
  5. i don't suggest this because i'm sour on tork. i think he has value, and it is value that the tigers might be able to translate into a different kind of value (i.e., different position, something like that), with a possible play for upside with keith. also, to somebody else's point, keith isn't as good as tork defensively, today, but given a chance he can probably be much better than he is keith needs a position where he can learn and grow. he hasn't had that. and it's not like tork is keith hernandez
  6. I guess I kind of think Keith presents the prospect [there's that word] of being better than Tork. So far he hasn't been is correct. I don't think Tork has any real upside left. At best, he'll get a little BA/OBP boost from more accurate strike calls in the future, but I think he's a finished product, for better or worse.
  7. I wonder if Pittsburgh would have any interest, and any assets that would interest the Tigers, in a trade for Torkelson. Pitt is trying to get better for Skenes, and they got little out of 1B last year. So he might fit for them. If the Tigers want a veteran and an actual 3B and therefore are interested in Bregman (today's reports say 'yes'), this would open 1B for Colt Keith. Whatever assets Pitt might be able to send back may ameliorate the overall increase in cost that is effectively swapping Tork for Bregman.
  8. one of them is named Richard Fitts bwahahahahahaha
  9. yes. wtf with trading the cat
  10. Twas 2009. Had the Tigers won one more game against the white sox, game 163 would have been avoided. Sigh.
  11. hmph, it worked for me. it recounts the way the granderson trade worked out, with max coming over, and the non-trade of max heading into his final year of team control after the exchange of pissy press releases from the team and boras
  12. in my mind 19 is always the number given to disposable players. i was surprised that anibal sanchez wore it for as long as he did EDIT: I see that Anibal Sanchez wore it with the Marlins before the trade
  13. the big media markets also offer more opportunities for endorsement deals. something in LA or NYC probably would provide multiples of whatever cure car insurance is paying skubal.
  14. yes, it was damp and cold. the night's weather started off decent but deteriorated. i watched much of the game from the concourse holding my then-11 month old son
  15. yes! i was at that game. i had won the tickets from the detroit news, which held a contest something like 'detroit's biggest tigers fan.' my entry was that i had (have) a tattoo for this **** team. i won tickets and like some baseball cards or something -- probably all dozen or so people that entered won something. i remember the 8th inning comeback but had forgotten the two stolen bases in the 9th
  16. I remember both. as i recall, the tigers traded for sanchez from milwaukee shortly after dombrowski arrived/became gm. i saw nook logan when he played for the whitecaps. he was as described.
  17. I like your thinking but I think that is light for Cease and I think that the Sux would want more for Luis Robert. Even with Cease's down year in 2025, if teams pay like $9M per WAR this offseason (it was around $8M last year), I bet teams would gamble on him being a 3+ war pitcher. He was 4+ in 2024 and 6+ a few years ago.
  18. It was. Lima Time was one of my undergraduate-self's favorites
  19. yes, mike moore was *awful* on that team. that was (one of) the team(s) that had "Lima Time," too
  20. I thought it was Cashman's predecessor. And I thought Higginson was the piece heading back to NY, because Steinbrenner was like obsessed with him or something
  21. It's not the same team anymore
  22. I could see Nick C. on the Marlins next year. They bring him "home," they don't have much of a DH right now
