  1. northwestern did a similar thing. players like their coaches.
  2. kopech was pretty good as a reliever but has been middling to bad as a starter. so the sox keep him as a starter in a desperate attempt to get chris sale 2.0 out of the chris sale trade. kopech also sat out the covid season and has been an overall disappointment for the sox. moncada and kopech was a great haul for sale at the time, but they both have turned into mentally and physically fragile players.
  3. a tiny american team lost to a huge lithuanian team. its troy weaver's dream scenario. somewhere joe dumars is pounding the table about how a monroe-drummond-smith frontcourt could work if he just had the right coach.
  4. he's on track more for andrew vaughn than paul konerko. but he's still young. i'm good with his progress this season too but he has to get better.
  5. ymmv.
  6. neither faedo nor wentz are any good as starters. maybe they'll have a future in the pen.
  7. he's a self centered ass? he went there and kicked half the team out? he succeeded at jackson state because they were paying more than anyone else? ive never cared for him. that said, he'll be successful at colorado because he'll get top talent to play for him.
  8. the white sox are such a joke. its hilarious. they look completely lost in the field.
  9. how awesome is that for lipcius? his parents were in the stands.
  10. a lot of the streaming services are now working with nielsen to get numbers for viewership. however, it appears that peacock is not one of them yet. if theyre just releasing their own numbers, i'm skeptical. but nbc turned down an easy 3.5-4 million viewership game. i also wonder what the numbers on peacock will be. nebraska/minnesota was 3.5 million on thursday. in contrast, yankees-tigers was about 400k. liverpool game was 650k.
  11. agreed. unfortunately, its all about the football money.
  12. the picture is better. the inability to record it sucks. still the same inane announcer talk. were all just a bunch of old men shaking our fists at technology clouds. i remember my dad complaining about cable and having to "pay" for tv!
  13. get ready for the deion hype train to keep right on moving.
  14. they had to replace most of that team because all their good players transferred through the portal. but again, theyre a well coached team by reputation. i would expect they'll be a 7 or 8 win team on that fact alone. they looked better than hawaii did last year.
  15. it was one game so hard to judge. oline didnt look all that great considering the opposition (although ecu is - by reputation - a very well coached team). like tcu, osu, and almost every non-sec defense michigan plays, ecu sold out against the run. but jj is an upper classman now and he tore them apart in the passing game. as long as jj is healthy they should overwhelm any team on their schedule not named penn state or ohio state. if i have a worry about the offense its that they dont have a game breaking receiver. and kicker. kicker is definitely a worry.
  16. the big games will all be on network tv for the forseeable future. that's where the eyeballs are and that's where the ad money is. for now.
  17. adding usc, ucla, and washington make sense. $$$$$. oregon? a bit of a stretch but they bring nike money with them. we just need to face reality that this is becoming minor league professional football. remember when tampa bay was in the nfc central? the cowboys in the nfc east? eventually its going to be two giant conferences like the nfc and afc. get on board while you can. and if youre indiana or northwestern or purdue, well....hang on to your butts and be very nice to michigan and ohio state.
  18. nobody is saying adding rutgers "is turning out well," were just telling you the reason they were added. im not sure why you think rutgers is a bad addition (which it is) yet you want to double down on that and add washington state and oregon state. lol. come on man.
  19. white sox post game shows have been great. the sox are selfish, lazy, and dumb. a rudderless team wasting talent. promoting chris getz is the most promoting mediocrity because of laziness since al avila.
  20. rutgers and maryland were brought in on the theory that they would put the big ten network on basic cable platforms in new york city (rutgers) and washington dc (maryland). oregon state and washington state bring no such tv markets. the big ten has an 8 billion contract. each school gets X amount of dollars out of that contract. bringing in wsu and osu makes two more schools that get a share of that $8 billion without adding any money to it. therefore, each big ten school currently in the conference gets less money because part of their share would go to osu and wsu. see how that works? cal and stanford were similar. they bring nothing to the big ten now athletically (and unlike wsu and osu, they would bring academic cache). the fact that rutgers and maryland allegedly brought tv markets to the conference in the days before streaming doesnt give a rationale to bring in more schools now. usc and ucla bring the second largest tv market in the country and huge (in usc's case) fanbases. washington gives you seattle. oregon gives you nike money. the tv networks were willing to give the big ten a LOT more money to get usc and some more money for washington/oregon. but they would not give them any more money for wsu/osu. wsu and osu brings you nothing. they are a negative in every way: monetarily, academically, and athletically. anyone thinking they should come to the big ten doesnt understand how modern sports works.
  21. chiefs win 38-13 mcs the next day: "if the lions had ANY RESPECT for their fans dan campbell would be fired TOMORROW!"
  22. it makes zero sense for wsu and osu to come to the big ten and you know it.
  23. why would the big ten split money with two schools that bring nothing to the table? come on. washington and oregon were a stretch. the other two are useless and would only suck money from the remaining schools.
