  1. you already have multiple examples of good young coaches. hiring moore because it will be cheaper to fire him is an absolutely horrible way to do business. it was cheap to fire brady hoke.
  2. the wings are no lock to make the playoffs. too many games left. too much time for fringe teams to make big deals.
  3. there are lots of better candidates out there than sherrone moore. the timeline prevented them from making a serious run at them, but there were lots of better candidates. jedd fisch, dan lanning, kaleb deboer. all had been taken by the time harbaugh made it official.
  4. and they still have massive holes at edge, cb, and really could have used jalen carter. as for free agents, lots of teams have tons of cap room. if the bears and lions want the same guy, he aint coming here. if wilkins or jones hits the market, i expect the bears to sign one of them. bears are about to clear even mpre cap space by dealing fields to some dumb team who thinks he's lamar jackson 2.0.
  5. normally i would agree with the "no point in firing him now" course of action. however, howard was supposedly on a "double secret probation" with the only caveat being it wasnt very secret. and he acted violently again. and still nothing. warde manuel never acts proactively about anything. he sits around and waits for others to act. the easiest course of action is to do nothing, and that's what he does. they all knew harbaugh was leaving, did they act proactively to contact other potential coaches like other schools do? i dont know, but i would be stunned if they did. now they have a rookie head coach in charge of the school's jewel program and top money maker. good luck. they should be making contacts with represenatatives from top coaches right now. the nate oates' of the world. feeling them out. a succession plan should already be in place. with manuel, he's probably doing what he does best: sitting behind a desk doing nothing. waiting for juwan's contract to run out, which is the worst thing for the program.
  6. on the contrary, i am shocked when warde manuel takes action, not when he sits around and waits for someone else to do something.
  7. pens lost. everything else was bad.
  8. this is what the playoffs are going to look like.
  9. the only thing they care about with basketball is that it doesnt embarass them like the fab five scandal did at the time. beilein was such the perfect michigan basketball coach.
  10. ridiculously bad management. again. i wonder what adam silver thinks as he sits in a 1/3 filled arena. a once proud franchise turned into a national joke by its drunk coked out hedge fund owner who only cares about the asset value. can the league force him to sell? but first he has to pay off monty williams.
  11. and now they bought out shake milton. what was the point of all those trade deadline deals? we bought out three of the players we traded for. what's the point?
  12. adam silver in the crowd tonight. please save us from tom gores. i know you won't. what if we can make it a social justice thing? he owns a company that takes advantage of prisoners who are mostly black. can we use that to make him sell the team like you did with sterling? please?
  13. the cavs are sitting their two best players and YOURE DOWN 21 POINTS IN THE THIRD QUARTER! AT HOME! TO A TEAM THAT JUST PLAYED AN OVERTIME GAME ON THE ROAD!!!!
  14. that would be cheap for a goff extension. he could demand $60 million per and get it. especially with the increase in the cap.
  15. its a business. for god's sake were "lucky" they dont have ads up and down the jerseys like they do in europe.
  16. they can offer them bridge contracts after this year, but it will be better to sign them both long term now. 8×8.5 for seider and 7x7.5 for raymond is what max has them at. he also has kane down for $5m next year which i think is ambitious. kane has shown he's still a point per game player. i think its going to be more like $7m. i know he's old and coming off a bad injury, but guys like him age well (if the hip truly is no longer an issue).
  17. the wings have the cap space to offer him $5-7 mil per year for 2 or 3 years. i dont know who else has the space to offer him more where he would want to play. does he really want to go back to chicago? anaheim? san jose?
  18. depends on the cost. theyre about to run into some cap concerns next year if they traded for tkachuk. with that said, he could be their brendan shanahan. also, i very much doubt ottawa would trade him to detroit.
  19. or uninterested in a rental defender he doesnt want to re-sign.
  20. i think its more likely that petersson becomes the highest (or one kf the highest) paid players in hockey than he gets traded.
  21. i do suspect at some point they will have to deal for a "star" if they want to compete for cups. they got lucky this year and found patrick kane on the scrap heap and signed him for nothing. i doubt that happens in the future (or ever). yzerman has said before that he'd rather trade for known players than draft picks. he has had a few years to build up the barren farm system and had done a great job of it. i dont think they should be dealing prospects for rentals, theyre not at that point this year, but over the summer? maybe someone shakes loose like a tkachuck or kyle connor in winnipeg with their financial problems? as you say, now they have the prospect ammo to go get them.
  22. once again buffalo is the atop the prospect lists and at the bottom of the standings, looking to trade previously top rated prospects because they cant pay them all. you have to wonder if a better strategy would be to do what yzerman did: sign a bunch of veterans to blend in with the youth. make the younger players wait. (and sign patrick kane)
