Week One: Detroit Lions (0-0) @ Kansas City Chiefs (0-0)
buddha replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
fields is such a good runner and the bears oline is so bad that its hard to say. they signed nate davis from buffalo and he was AWFUL yesterday. darnell wright is a good prospect but he's a right tackle and will take a while to get good (remember how sewell struggled early...you know, back when tp was saying how stupid the lions were for passing on fields). fields is so physically talented that its weird that he's so ineffective throwing the ball. if you give him - or any nfl qb - all day to throw he will find someone open. the bears should realize what they have and just go to an option/rpo college style offense. using fields' legs and tricking the defense is the only way they'll be able to move the ball consistently. its how they scored last year. big plays from fields. if you dont live here you dont realize just how annoying bears fans can be. all summer long its been talk about how this is the year fields becomes a superstar. you have numb nuts like greg gabriel mascarading as nfl analysts saying how the bears are going to win the division, blah blah blah. chicago sports fans are usually ass holes, but this summer was especially bad. which makes the fall of the white sox and the bears losing to green bay in week one that much sweeter. watch, if they beat tampa there will be super bowl talk again. -

the bears oline is still terrible. that's fields' biggest issue. its the question bears fans should really be asking: is the offense bad because fields is a bad passer who cant read a defense, or is it because the oline is so bad he has zero time to throw. i think its both. he has no time to throw but he also just tucks and runs with no eyes downfield. and when he does throw over the middle he gets picked. it further justifies holmes passing on him for sewell. fix the oline and the rest of the offense will follow. -
the fact that she was perfectly happy to take money and personal gifts from tucker and say nothing, and then immediately report him for a rules violation says something about her motivations. that doesnt excuse tucker's behavior, just because she flirts with you and takes your money doesnt give you the right to assume she wants to have phone sex with you, but i'd be interested to see the texts and conversations she was having with him. after reading that usa today article i felt that tucker was making assumptions and then lying to investigators about it, but i dont really know. its 2023 mel, if you have a professional relationship with someone, she's off limits just dont even bother. ESPECIALLY after all the stuff that's happened at msu. but part of me is a little skeptical of her. why are you letting him send you cash and buy you personal gifts? isnt that unethical on her part? if i'm taking personal gifts from a client i get fired.

beware week one overreactions... -
the vikings losing a one score game and the giants getting absolutely smoked is total karma revenge for their complete lucky ass seasons last year.

jalen hurts does not look good. he doesnt run anymore, and when he does he slides quickly and runs at half speed. if he's not going to run that offense isnt that special. otoh, the pats almost ALWAYS have a good defense under belichick and they looked damn good today. the playcalling down the stretch for the pats was really really questionable, but they outplayed the eagles after a disastrous first quarter. niners and cowboys look real good. lol at the viqueens and seahawks.

omg. its amazing. INJECT ALL THE BEARS POSTGAME SHOWS INTO MY VEINS!!!!! all those slappies had the bears winning this game and 10 games this season. getting waxed by the pack is just amazing. jeff joniak : "i'm having a hard time seeing the bears not win at least 11 games." they really really really believe in justin fields. btw, their #1 pick darnell wright? awful in this game. jalen carter, otoh, looked damn good for philly. i was watching the pats at my friend's house. came home and watched the bears game. may just watch it again. -

would you like to being Al back? -
you usually dont get money damages for a title ix complaint. however, i dont know if they negotiate settlements to make people drop them. the point was raised earlier - correctly - that she was a vendor for msu and that makes his argument that it was a personal matter pretty weak. by the same token, if he is giving her gifts and ahe has a contract with michigan state, she has an ethical obligation not to take them or to return them. he sent her money and gave her gifts, she should have given them back or not taken them. but she didnt. for some unknown reason...

then dont. -
he cant deny everything because he already admitted it. this was a title ix complaint (i think). not sure if she gets money for that. however, if she does file a lawsuit that will say something about her motivation$$$$.

first of all, counselor, its a usa today article meant to expose tucker. and youre condensing 1200 pages of a one sided investigation into 3 pages for a general audience who only wants the salacious details. as you know, if tucker files a lawsuit she will be deposed by someone asking questions designed to bring tucker's side to the forefront. investigators will be hired to talk to any person she's dated for a long time. once youre talking about $80 million it will become a dirty business indeed (and tucker's past history will also be fair game). for people who are involved in the litigation game, we should know better than to jump to conclusions about what actually happened or to take what is published in the papers (usually leaked by plaintiff's attorneys but not likely here) as "truth" or "the whole truth." in other words, i dont know what happened with mel. sounds to me like he fell in lust with some lady and took it to places she didnt want it to go. that's the most favorable reading for mel. it could also be he is just another dude who interprets friendliness as "lets have sex" and then he stalked her and harassed her. regardless, she says it was unwelcome and made a complaint. he admitted to the behavior. given msu's recent history, the next likely step is that he's fired for cause and he files a lawsuit against the university and they settle.

if/when tucker files a lawsuit against her and michigan state, that's when you'll find out what really happened. the fact that she gets paid $10k a pop to speak about sexual abuse doesnt mean she cant get involved in a consensual relationship with someone on a football team. she's a human being like everyone else. which is not to say she DID here, but we dont know. certainly looks bad for mel and was certainly unprofessional of him. its likely to cost him his job and maybe his marriage. i dont know if this is even subject to title ix, which is a point raised by mel's lawyers. i want mel to win this because i dont want state to fire him. i want them to be stuck with this bad football coach for the next decade or for matt ishbia to have to pay $80 million to buy him out. make it hurt.
-
hahahaha. they lost AGAIN! any country that gave a damn would fire steve kerr and grant hill immediately. but this is the US, the only country that cares more about the olympics than the world championships so nothing will happen. they didnt even medal!
-
its "he said she said." he says it eas consensual and she says it wasnt. he's going to lose. he's likely going to get fired. we'll all be able to make fun of michigan state again and bonghit will be there to somehow make it about michigan. dont worry.
-
i enjoy taking shots at sparty as much as the next michigan fan but this seems more like a personal thing than something mel should lose his job over. unless there is some sort of pattern here that is not in that very detailed report. that said, if he was on company time or using the company phone that could be the hook sparty needs. this is mana from heaven for sparty! they can get out from under that horrible contract and fire him for cause!
