if they do get tatum, they might lose marshall. regardless, that would be an amazing get for michigan. although we do have a horrible history when it comes to 5* running backs.
-
kind of surprised i havent seen anyone link hopkins to detroit.
-
he's still getting paid by phoenix, so he'll probably just chill.
-
all the gun stuff will only make him more popular.

because you can get really good production from average running backs. their production is more oline dependent. look at saquon barkley, supremely talented but is not the offensive game changer people thought he would be and probably has not justified the #2 draft position. again, gibbs is (hopefully) a different animal. hopefully he gives us what swift only gave us in fits and starts because he was never healthy. that is a pass catching back AND someone who can run between the tackles. that player is valuable no matter the shelf life. as for this year's draft, the only offensive player i would have taken at that point in the draft over gibbs (12th) was JSN. you can make an argument for either one.

wasnt this one of tom gores' businesses? the one he had to apologize for and said he was going to educate himself on post george floyd riots?

i think positional value is real and the lions invested a lot of money and high picks in lower value positions. but i think barnwell is wrong. he doesnt really know the lions and only has a cursory knowledge of their players. they have more talent at edge than he gives them credit for, and gibbs is a multifacted offensive player who can play as much receiver as running back. as for the linebacker and db issue, he does have a point on the lions spending a ton of money and capital on anzalone and campbell, but he seems to fall into the trap of assuming draft picks are made to play next year. campbell will eventually replace anzalone and should be an upgrade on rodriguez. his point on the deals cjgj and mosely signed seems to be grasping at straws (that they werent as values around the league seeing as how their contracts were so low).
-
barnwell taps the lions with the 5th worst offseason in the nfl. he says they used their resources poorly and prioritized low value positions like rb, safety, and off ball linebackers. this was the offseason to improve at more valuable positions like edge and they didnt do it.

stetson bennett never graduated after 6 years in "school"? lol.
-
now the reports are that we offered williams a contract and he turned it down. and that troy wants kevin ollie.... the guy no one else wants (including our owner) is our gms #1 choice.
-
72 points was enough to win an nba game.
-
that's the type of guy they need to hit on. they need a lombardi or a mazur to develop into a top 6 guy. since it looks like theyre getting shut out of stars, they're going to have tonwin with depth like seattle did this year or carolina seems to do.
-
he almost broke dylan larkin's neck once.
-
lions sign germain ifedi and pray they never have to use him. better than matt nelson, so there's an upgrade.
-
apparently they screwed up the big ten tv deal so badly they now owe fox $20 million and there are so many scheduling **** ups they have to redo much of it? good for kevin warren getting that cushy bears gig before all his **** ups hit the media.
-
JEIII was hinting at Gores' involvement today on his pod. saying weaver has his guy, but he isnt hired yet and now theyre having another round of interviews....so someone up the chain isnt buying kevin ollie yet.
-
heck, with all the PEDs lebron has ingested over the years his body is so well preserved he could play for another decade!

alex tanguay getting some news as a potential head coaching candidate in calgary...
-
the optimistic scenario is that they are waiting until the playoffs are over to speak with him. maybe that's why they havent made the decision already. the pessimistic scenario is that he's white and therefore not a candidate.
-
i thought he retired like 5 years ago.

im not sure how to read that post. you have a hard time reconciling harbaugh being pro-kapernick and anti-abortion yet you wish we had more weird people in politics? bo was a great football coach, what he was outside of that was as a man of his time. imperfect in all sorts of ways. shemy's personal politics shouldnt keep him from a job, but we live in 2023 where everything is political and there is no boundary between the public and the private.

florida is not a bottom feeder. they were the best team in the regular season just one year ago and added one of the best young players in the game this offseason (albeit with giving up two good players to get him). it took florida a while to get going this season, but they were playing very well down the stretch. florida's goalie played extremely well in the playoffs and boston's did not (through overwork or just bad luck). all boston fans are entitled massholes. bruins fans included. they were a **** organization for years but once they tasted a bitbof success, they lorded it over everyone. not only that, but they have one of the most hated, dirty players in the sport on their team (brad marchand) who just happened to say nasty things about detroit following the bertuzzi trade.

its not pistons-fit to want players who can shoot, its the modern nba.

i saw a tweet with all the great 2015 draftees and it made me go down the rabbit hole of the 2015-2019 drafts and now i am sick.
