in other words, what he did off the field didnt matter to the lions then and didnt matter now. these are young men, theyre gonna do dumb shit. can they play football well? that's the concern.
-
so a guy who played amazing for two seasons and dominated the best league in college football is off the board because he was overweight at his pro day after going through a pretty trying period in his life. i really think that's not as big of a deal as youre making it out to be. but we'll see.

given cephus' past, you would think this regime would have cut him by now? i mean, all i hear is they are so concerned about character...
-
i feel better about our talent because i feel better about the people in charge now. at the end of the day, they have to find a brayden point and hope cossa is vasilevsky. they struck out on vrana - who seems to look just fine in st louis, btw. i really want to know what happened here to ruin that relationship.
-
that's the smartest thing he's said in a long time.
-
he's an nfl guard. and not at #6.
-
they have one corner on the roster signed past next year. they need corners badly. take gonzalez or witherspoon before skowronski. again, skowronski at 18 is ok. trading down to the middle of round one? ok. but 6? 6 is a difference maker at a difference maker postion: quarterback, wide receiver, pass rushing dlineman, offensive tackle, play maker on offense, corner. not a guard, not a linebacker, not a safety, not a tight end.
-
there are three players in the nfl who played tackle with arms that short. two of whom arent any good and one is ok. he's an emergency tackle who will most likely end up at guard. at #6? no way.

buddha replied to casimir's topic in Detroit Pistons
4 of the 10 worst seasons in franchise history. and this franchise has some BAD history. if you lose 50+ games for the 3 years youve been here, you might be bad at your job. the real culprit is tom gores. del always brings up early bill davidson, but his early teams made the playoffs, then he made the big mistake in hiring vitale, but quickly corrected and brought in mccoskey and daly. no comparison to gores. this is the worst four year stretch in franchise history. its only worth it if this year's draft choice is "isiah-esque." -
i hope they dont take him at 6. that's way too high for him. there are better talented players on the board. fuck, id rather take bijan at 6 than skowronski. 18? maybe. 6? no fucking way.
-
im not worried about losing a guy who has barely played in 2 years. he canr stay healthy. he got a tiny contract for a reason. it shows you what the league and the lions think about him. same with evan brown. these guys just arent worth as much as we think they are.
-
jamo is not an x. reynolds is the only x on the team. they'll move people around. x and te are the two offensive positions they could use an upgrade on early.
-
taking a guard at 6 would be really dumb.
-
i dont know why the jets dont go get lamar jackson. why futz around with aaron rodgers' old ass when you can go get jackson for two #1s? i think the holdup is jackson's contract demand. no one else in the league is going to give him a fully guaranteed deal. just because the browns were stupid doesnt mean everyone else should be too.
-
he makes sense at 6.
-
how about #81 for hopkins?
-
the draft is about the next 5 years, not just next year. i dont know if they should take a qb at 6. i wouldnt. but the idea that they shouldnt take one because they have goff is short sighted, imo.
-
rip jerry green.
-
i dream of them drafting anthony richardson and jalen carter, just to watch the reactions here. lol.
-
how? simmons = 18. so youre giving up 6 for 11 and a third? that really shortchanges detroit. you would need 11 and their second round pick or a future 1 with detroit throwing in a late 3rd.
-
i just listened to a podcast the other day that said levis and richardson arent even first rounders, lol. nobody knows nothin.

raymond has been a real disappointment this season. seider's first half of the season was bad, but he really picked it up when he got paired with walman. but raymond has not been good. too small and gets pushed around. this whole season was sort of a feel good affair until that ottawa series. that was such an utter ass whooping that laid bare the disparity between the two teams that it signaled a big sell off and a reset of expectations. theyre now on the raymond/seider timeline. larkin will be around as captain but everyone else is peripheral. they need all their top yzerman-era picks to hit and to sign someone like a nylander. some top offensive player. that's assuming the defensive talent they have pans out. i have a lot of trust in yzerman and still feel that he inherited one of the worst teams in nhl history and has had zero lottery luck to help. the only misstep might have been spending last offseason instead of going full tank. i mean, go back and look at the last three or four holland drafts. theyre abysmal. but we'll see. i have a lot of hope for kasper and edvinsson has surprised me a bit with how well he's looked in his debut. wallinder, mazur, johansson, buium, sebrango, buchelnikov, there's a lot of promise out there and multiple #1s in multiple drafts coming up. im still hopeful, but still wary of them being able to do it without getting the league to take pity on them and give them a top two pick this year.
-
this is a really good loss if it holds up. gives them the chance for a couple more lottery balls.
-
good riddance.
-
jett howard goes pro. good riddance. im sure he'd be better next year, but i have convinced myself he was the problem last year. besides being an awful, awful useless player on defense, he was a selfish offensive player AND the coach's son. i have a feeling that dynamic ruined the vibes on the rest of the team and probably explains why dickinson and others seemed checked out for most of the season. if - big if - kobe and hunter come back, they should be ok. if not, hit the portal and hope the admissions office gets the stick out of their ass. they seemed to have done so for football.
