  1. didnt he score that goal?
  2. the only one of those that makes sense for detroit is the third one. simmons for #18 makes the most sense. honestly, all this talk of them taking a qb high in the draft is a bit premature. didnt they take willis last year? he was always going to be a project, have they given up on him already? seems like this is media driven.
  3. older and likely on the downside soon.
  4. i'm fine with trading 18 for a difference maker if it fits in their future plans. ed oliver's name was mentioned on a podcast today. he's a good kalijah clancy comp if you wanted a finished product now, although simmons seems like a better player.
  5. he's also older and about to become extremely expensive. there's your trade off. depends how they see the cap evolving. i know people dont believe in the cap, but there does come a time when teams have to pay the piper. how many huge contracts can the lions have? didnt we have this issue when we had stafford, suh, and calvin on massive deals? if we trade for simmons and he signs a huge extension, we'll have goff, simmons, sewell, decker, ragnow, st brown, hutch...how many more big deals can they take? otoh, if you think youre one player away and he fits the scheme to a "t", maybe you take that chance that you lose one of the above guys?
  6. trade him for #18. they cant take clancy.
  7. deforest buckner was almost an identical situation, traded by the niners to the colts for the #13 pick in the draft. simmons would have similar value, one would think.
  8. or they could stay put and potentially get Carter, who profiles as the next jeffrey simmons only a lot cheaper right now and with a lot more potentially productive future left. i wouldnt trade two first round picks for jeffrey simmons. maybe 18. that said, if there is a qb left at #6, all offers are on the table.
  9. i dont know. they might. perhaps they like hurts better? perhaps they think mobile qbs are more valuable in today's nfl?
  10. they reminisce about their run to the super bowl with him? i dont know what they'll do, but i suspect they extend hurts. if they still have questions, they can franchise him.
  11. its not that, its that you wont have enough money (or AS MUCH) money to pay the other good players on your team. but good qbs cost money and if goff continues to get better, maybe they do pay him? or they see that an effective game manager can run their offense and they let goff leave and find another effective game manager? dont know. but they have options.
  12. its nice to have confidence in a regime's drafting ability after years of quinn.
  13. jared goff is going to get very expensive in two years. like potentially $45-50 million if he keeps up his game from the second half of the season. and sewell will likely be the highest paid olineman and st brown will make a good amount as a slot guy. im sure holmes is thinking about the cap ramifications down the road. for once, its a nice problem to have rather than our usual "we'll have so much cap space after we let these bums walk!"
  14. the pistons are still capable of matching the 79-80 team for worst pistons team of all time with 16 wins. im sure we all remember who the pistons drafted #1 the next year, right? oh wait! they didnt have a draft pick that year because they traded it for bob mcadoo! dick vitale was simultaneously the worst and best thing to ever happen to the pistons, because the team he created was so bad he got them the #2 pick the next year and that became isiah thomas.
  15. mantle was one of the ten best players of all time, and he wasnt higher probably due more to his knee injury than hia drinking. but the drinking didnt help, im sure.
  16. i thought edvinsson looked good. getting stuck with bottom pairing forwards probably cost him a couple points.
  17. i think just as many of those guys spend a lot of time at clubs and bars and partying as those who refrain.
  18. need jadyn davis to commit. and stick.
  19. how dare they give you an F for jake moody.
  20. hell no. that's a massive overpay.
  21. i'll take that bet (not really...theoretically).
  22. two players!
  23. best player in the draft.
  24. terrible play by raymond and its 1-0.
