chicago is going to throw a bank truck full of money at him. 7×15 would not surprise me. they have more cap space than anyone and a need for a star to play alongside their underperforming superstar. marner-bedard-whomever is a killer line. at least in the regular season. and the hawks dont really care how productive it is in the playoffs but only care that it would be IN the playoffs. i dont see much of a chance for the wings to outbid teams for marner. other teams have as much or more cap space. better off paying way too much for gavrikov or marchand or tavares. although i think marchand goes back to boston and tavares stays in toronto.

happy leafs elimination day to all who celebrate.
-
i'll remember that when i read your reaction to the pistons signing duren to a $30m per year extension.
-
if your ultimate goal is to remain below the cap and DEFINITELY below the tax, 30 is spending.
-
spending on that core would leave the bulls exactly where they want to be: firmly in the play-in game every year and under the luxury tax.
-
given how poorly cossa played down the stretch and in the playoffs, its not a big surprise that they dont feel he's ready. they have a pretty good backup plan in augustine, but he went back to msu.
-
lions down to a .5 underdog on draftkings. youre going to get a lot of different lines from different books for something so far off in the future.
-
he's really become a guy who quits the moment things get tough and he doesnt think they have a legit chance to win. he looked like he couldnt have cared less. draymond may be a psycopath but you cant say he doesnt care.

so much for playoff jimmy.

1) they havent lost yet. 2) they say that after each time they lose and they havent done it. you dont just get rid of a guy like matthews. he's a generational offensive talent. the leafs continually remind me of the 90s wings. great offensive regular season team who was too soft and was constantly bounced early in the playoffs. its not a perfect analogy because yzerman was much tougher than matthews and had had some playoff "success" in the 80s (albeit against the ol' weak norris division), but there are some striking similarities. it took the wings getting konstantinov/larianov/fetisov to make fedorov play tougher and shanahan adding actual toughness before they could get over the hump. a generational all-world defenseman didnt hurt either. the leafs need their scotty bowman and brendan shanahan (the player, not the exec). the rumors that they were going to deal marner for rantanan would have been a good playoff trade for them. but part of me thinks that's just another way for the fan base to demonize marner.

get ready for a parade of knicks or celtics players to the foul line. and i doubt theyre looking forward to okc being in the finals either.
-
lions open a 1.5 point underdog at green bay.
-
ever since you posted this the leafs have fallen apart. good work, my friend. good work.
-
love the celtics going small and putting holliday or white on kat. spread em out and drive. they put the knicks in the bonus with 10 minutes left in the game. not by standing around and watching tatum and brown shooting fade away 3s, but with cutting and movement to the basket.
-
celtics look like a team again.
-
that's a really tough schedule.
-
dumars would have fired him like he fired everyone else when he ran out of ideas.
-
the bulls are dumb enough to spend all their money on giddey, white, and patrick williams.

asp probably needs at least a year. he'll get shoved around a lot in the nhl.

tarasenko is the only candidate... i will be sad if they bring him back. i fully expect to be sad because i dont think he's going anywhere. i'm debbie downer so i'm prepared for an offseason like last year: refusing to overpay so getting no free agents, refusing to do rfa's for...reasons, and refusing to bring up prospects "before theyre ready." so they'll run it back. that's my fear. happy buddha thinks they sign at least one big free agent for way too much money and too many years. 6 or 7 years at 8 or 9 for gavrikov, something like that. buyout tarasenko. bring up danielson. bring up wallinder. raymond-larkin-kasper kane-copp-debrincat danielson-compher-mazur flotsam-rasmussen-jetsome seider-gavrikov edvinsson-johannson chairot-wallinder gustafsson or holl, whichever one isnt in GR. mrazek-talbot hope for the 8th seed. i could see mbn making it fairly quickly. he could be a 3rd line winger playing some with ras. if they bring up danielson, maybe they try him at 2c? p4obably not right away. if they sign a winger, kasper could get the 2c spot. wherever he is will do well. he's a player.

now boston and cleveland are going to make some changes with the strict apron penalties coming.
-
boston and cleveland just looked so soft. mitchell has been a real front runner for them. has some big games and then gets hurt when the going gets tough. jarrett allen got punked again. boston was just chucking up 3's with reckless abandon and refused to go to the basket. i know 3's are their MO, but when youre up 20, take some damn easy points and get to the line! the pistons played the knicks tougher than boston. jaylon brown looked inconsequential. the whole team wouldnt take a hard foul if you paid them. so many soft teams and soft players got exposed.
-
somebody tough who can shoot.
-
ok whatever. what i write or mean to say and what YOU take from it are quite often not the same thing.
