Week Five: Detroit Lions (1-3) @ New England Patriots (1-3)
buddha replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
jones looks like the epitome of "high floor low ceiling" qbs. the buzz is that he "is what he is" and wont get any better than he was at points last year. still too early to tell. being on a team without much individual offensive skill position talent like the pats doesnt help him much. -
let the mad tank scramble begin! victor is 7'5 with a guard's handle and a smooth 3 point shot. he's the next big thing. like chet, only good.

pistons will go on a late season run and pick third.

just a preseason game. means nothing. that said, ivey looks exciting! finally, someone on this team who can beat a guy off the dribble to the basket!

2022-23 Pistons Preview and Predictions Thread

hollinger has them at 29 wins so you know they'll break 30. -
barely above ray schalk. i wonder about the comparison to pujols' value to the angels compared to cabrera's post extension value to detroit.

you cant take an "i told you so" victory lap because you were 100% wrong. and its funny that you come on now after a bad game to talk about it.

yeah, but in the big picture right now i dont think that matters. if your pj fleck there is little difference between minny and wiscy. they are both mid tier big ten programs who pay similarly with similar recruiting footprints. the next step is the next level of competition or a more prestigious job. either the sec, a blue blood program, or the pros. wiscy is none of those things.

Week Four: Seattle Seahawks (1-2) @ Detroit Lions (1-2)

sometimes i really dont know what pff is looking at. i like rodrigo, but how many times did he and all the lions linebackers get burned by tight ends? how many 3rd and 5s got turned into 40 yard touchdowns? some of that is on inadequate linebacker play. still a great find for a 6th round pick obviously. -
he gets almost all his pressures from stunts. i dont think ive seen him beat a tackle cleanly yet.
-
they lost tonight to pittsburgh, but they played really well. outshot them. got robbed a few times by pitt's goalie. they continue to look really good in the preseason. much better than last year. bert played tonight, so that's good. if copp can ever come back they might be a pretty interesting team this season.
-
where are they at right now? similar. wiscy has the same resources and recruiting as minny for the most part, wiscy has been better for 10-20 years, but that doesnt make wiscy a blue blood program. its not a national program.
-
all of those bears second round contributors suck except for jaylon johnson and james daniels and james daniels doesnt play for them anymore. javon brisker might turn out ok though...
-
if they draft jok they still have a huge hole at defensive tackle.

whomever hired and elevated our OC deserves the majority of the credit. hopefully that was holmes. 45 points with that personnel yesterday is a testament to the offensive play calling, jared goff, and the lions unwillingness to quit when they were down. -
wisconsin and nebraska, get on your marks and get ready, let the lance leopold bidding begin! (although i think wiscy hires jim leonard if he wants the job)

next year will tell us a lot more about tork and greene. they've both had a year in the majors now, its likely that if theyre going to be stars or merely role players, we'll see it by the end of next year. especially for tork as he's older (i think). -

he did it to anthony lynn, there's no reason to think he wont do it to glenn too. the difference may be that they had someone waiting in the wings to replace lynn (the current oc), whereas they may not have that person on defense. -
he made minnesota into the exact smae program wiscy has been historically, just a slight bit below. the resources are basically the same. the recruiting footprint is the same. that whole tier of the big ten is basically the same. fleck's next move is to the sec or the top tier in the big ten (michigan, ohio state, penn state, u$c).

their personnel isnt good, but they were outcoached. seattle ran perfect plays against the lions over and over again. the lions blitz, and seattle runs a perfect run play. over and over. glenn got abused. yes the lions arr still talent deficient, but seattle's offense is one of the worst in the league. they scored more points today than they have in their three previous games combined. it was embarassing. an organizational embarassment. -

not really. michigan's linebackers sucked. when hutch played at michigan he was going up against big ten left tackles, not nfl left tackles. the seahawks outsmarted the lions on defense. they made great play calls and made glenn look stupid all day.
