  1. rumor that edmonton is asking about cossa/augustine. i dont see a trade fit. their only high end prospect is savoie. also, they dont have anything they would trade to detroit that would help detroit now: front line scoring or top 4 defense. i dont see how a trade works unless they really like savoie.
  2. i look at that view of wallinder as the same as the general consensus: big, good skater, but lacks a mean streak. he'll get a call up not because he's barged down the door and demanded one, but because he's out of options after this year anf they need to see what they have. but the wings move very slowly with prospects. he has this year to show he's ready for the next step. cant be any worse than holl.
  3. the discussion is always appreciated. but i dont see it for anaheim. they are loaded with cap space.
  4. why would they trade mactavish? asp for mavtavish doesnt really make sense for detroit's long term plan. detroit is loaded with young forward prospects, asp is the only high end defense prospect detroit has. why deal him? bear? danielson? sure. but not asp. and i dont know why anaheim makes that move.
  5. legacy sportswriters have been getting the **** kicked out of them by internet sports kids for years. its embarassing. its a dead media. monarrez is a poor man's rob parker or drew sharpe. just offering up contrarian takes for the sake of contrarian takes. and sharpe - for all his flaws - was a lot better at it than monarrez.
  6. i largely agree. however, the one issue i have is that with the cap rising, EVERYONE will be able to hand out free agent contracts. and as we've seen this year (and last), detroit is not a destination and wont be until they start winning. its all about the draft classes. but then again, it really was always about the draft classes. there is no quick rebuild in the nhl without generational talents. even then sometimes you end up as the blackhawks.
  7. he also had lucas raymond's deal as one of the best.
  8. im not disappointed in the pick. it was a good risk to take and he may still end up being an ok backup.
  9. he should start the next game and play with better players, see how he does then. while preseason game do mean nothing....i mean....he should look better than that if he's ever going to be good.
  10. all the talk about hooker being better looks to be a lie. he looks like the same deer in the same headlights he's always been. very disappointing tonight.
  11. three things can be true: 1) pre season means almost nothing; 2) the only real important thing is that the lions stay healthy; and 3) the lions look terrible.
  12. the one thing this game needs more of is sterling sharpe... /sarcasmfont
  13. i hope they look better than this in practice. the chargers are also playing a fair amount of starters and the lions arent playing anyone. although rakestraw looked like crap.
  14. if the wings had a top line winger he would be a great 3c. in your hypothetical, theyre giving mazur a shot at LW1, and if that panned out the way kasper panned out, copp would be great at 3c. like you said, ideally that's where he SHOULD be on a playoff team. in your hypo, i'd have danielson on the wing before i moved copp to 4C. 4C would be a mix and match with compher if he continues to suck and rasmussen. i was as down as anyone on copp at the beginning of the year, but he turned it around before he got hurt. his resurgence and kasper's emergence started their run, and his injury started their slide last year.
  15. the wings were 17-5-1 when kasper was playing mostly left wing on the top line and copp was centering line two. not sure why we all of a sudden want copp on the 4th line. i would prefer copp on line one as left wing before i'd put him on line 4.
  16. danielson may develop into a better overall player than copp. he wasnt a better player than copp last year.
  17. kcp turned out to be a much better pick than burke.
  18. you wont need to give up the equivalent of 5 first round picks for him. nor should you.
  19. kasper needs to be on the first line. period. it really annoys me that every podcast or article is automatically slotting him in as a second line center and then fretting about jvr or ELMER(!!!) on the first line. no. no no no. you HAVE your first line left winger. and copp was really good as 2C between debrincat and kane. it was only when copp got hurt and kasper left the first line that the first line tanked and the season went off the rails. danielson can be 3C if he plays his way on to the team.
  20. the bulls dont care about winning. all they want to do is make the play-in every year and sell out the arena because its chicago. still living off michael jordan, 30 years later. both nate silver and bill simmons labeled them as one of the franchises with the worst future. its not that their cap is terrible, its not that they dont have any talent, and its not that they dont have their draft picks (now that their disastrous vucevic and derozan trades are over), but they have zero ambition. they are happy to draft 8-12, lose a playin game, and hope they get lucky in the lottery like they did with D rose. they're not phoenix. no one is phoenix. but the bulls are just.....blah. and that's all they really want to be.
  21. rumors are the pens want "at least" a first for either of them. i dont do that if i'm detroit.
  22. i heard a rumor that they will all be effectively banned from the league.
  23. good day to be offline in canada.
