i dont like their chances against the eagles. theyre at home so they have an advantage, but the eagles can run the ball and have a good oline. i expect the lions to give up a ton of points unless the eagles turn the ball over a lot.

sports media podcast: there is an automatic escalator clause in the big ten tv contract if they get notre dame. the contract automatically increases by a predetermined percentage if they get the irish. there is no escalator clause for any other team. if the big ten adds any other teams, they will have a "good faith conversation" about increasing the contract amount. its all about the irish.

halftime? dude, it will be the first time he throws an incompletion. mcs will be ranting about how he doesnt care about the fans and this is all the fords' fault. tp will blame the coaching staff. UNACCEPTABLE!

cant be any worse than blough/boyle.

might be temporary. they have a lot of injuries to guys they apparently dont want to put on ir/pup. also, the lions have the #2 waiver spot. they could be picking up guys really soon.

i am very surprised that jackson was waived.
-
no interest in strong.
-
could very well be. jerry jacobs to the pup.
-
parker is a good practice squad candidate. he started off well but fell off a bit, imo. good news for jerry jacobs' prognosis? i'm still hoping for a new backup qb...

pronman's list of under 23 players: seider #2 behind jack hughes. raymond #9 edvinsson #32 kasper #67 zadina in the 80s, elmer the great in the 90s.

iow, not blough or boyle.

i didnt lament the paredes trade. i thought he'd never amount to much. i was a bit worried that the rays would turn him into something, but oh well. ya gotta give up something to get something. that said, paredes has been "ok". not a world beater. its the meadows part that has killed us. meadows should have been a solid addition to the lineup but instead has been a microcosm of the whole team: underachieving and injured. if parades had stayed here, i suspect he would also be doing poorly and/or be hurt. but even for those of us - like me - who didnt think paredes would ever come good, the trade is sort of symbolic for the whole organization. the rays identify cheap players and trade overvauled players for them. and then make the cheap players into a coherent, largely successful organization. the tigers lately have not done that. and since they no longer have a gm who has a proven ability to identify big league talent and an owner willing to pay that talent, they fail. we'll have to see if chris eventually develops into mike. as many here point out, mike was pretty bad at this for a while too.

ot is an underrated need for detroit. im not sure decker is actually that good anymore.

i think levi goes on the pup. i'm also not sure will harris will make the team.
-
stop it. he hasnt played football in 5 years. and he makes more money bitching about the police. he's not coming back.
-
i wouldnt take mason rudolf. what for? he sucks too. all those guys suck. mike glennon is unplayable. blake bortles? nope. i mean, i get your point: out backups are terrible and not nfl quality qbs. problem is, neither are those guys you mentioned. sigh. all that said, if i were the lions i would definitely be watching the waiver wire. but i think they'll go with blough because they like his moxie.

up: barnes, st brown (despite the drop), okudah, dline. down: everyone else. if goff gets hurt they may not win a game. blough has played better, but he just doesnt have an nfl arm. boyle has an nfl arm but sucks at qb. on the bright side, derrick barnes has played well two games in a row against the other team's starters. craig reynolds looked good against the reserves. i suspect cephus and kennedy get cut. will harris looks like a cut. boyle gets cut. igwebuike is a cut. do you keep julian okwara if he's never healthy? does levi go on the pup? i wonder if they'll pick anyone up who gets cut? any dts out there? we'll see.

bump. still want to sign keuchel?

i dont think jj will transfer this year or next year. i think jj wins the starting job by the end of the year and cade transfers. either way, the problem (if there is one) is that they missed on carr and moore. so now they have nothing behind jj and cade.

boo.

calling braylon edwards an "analyst" is a real stretch. here's your accurate headline: "bomb throwers looking for clicks waking up to the fact that michigan's qb situation generates tons of interest."

its always awesome to watch nebraska lose.

that's probably why avila drafted torkelson...

i think ras will be fine for what he is: a 3rd or 4th line guy. he should get stronger and hopefully that will result in a guy who can get to the net and not be moved and shows some physical forechecking ability. cause they need that badly. its just not what you want from the #9 pick. as for zadina, he's still young and could be on a line with vrana. he could produce. but i'll believe it when i see him stop shooting every puck either directly at the goalie or missing the net completely. let's see what a new system can do with them.
