  1. berggren is a ufa. andrew copp is not getting you a first round pick in the offseason. maybe at the deadline if you squint really hard. besides, they like copp and he's your C2. when they were rolling last year it was when copp was playing C with debrincat and kane and kasper was on line one winning corner battles for raymond and larkin. when copp went down, kasper had to move off line one and that's when the larkin line nosedived. lack of depth killed them. you could potentially get a 4th or 5th for ras just because someone might take a gamble on his size. better off keeping him and seeing if him and elmer can cause damage on a 4th line with compher. they have the prospects to deal if they want to deal. but it will be danielson or asp who will have to be moved to bring back anything with realtime value. like a peterka or a byram. danielson and a 2nd (or even a first) might get that done, but then you have to commit to $7-$8m. since they refuse to do offer sheets - and honestly, that's probably wise in the age of salary cap increases because you'd have to massively overpay and give up multiple 1s to get guys - they will likely need to trade to get decent players. almost everyone has oodles of cap space. if you want to give $8+ to gavrikov you might be able to pry him away IF the kings truly are in for marner. but if not, there's no way gavrikov is leaving. ekblad? do you want to take a chance on him? sam bennett at $10m?
  2. wings sign kiiskinen to an elc.
  3. i cant stand buccigross. hey, remind me again where that guy went to college. its so annoying.
  4. Bucci plugging don cherry and barry melrose for the hockey hall of fame. i remember watching coaches corner every saturday night on hockey night in canada on channel 9. appointment tv back in the 80s and 90s when we only had 5 or 6 channels. once the wings started to get good with russians he turned against them, which was annoying. and by the time i stopped watching as much, he'd become even more of a cariacture of himself. towards the end, once cable was everywhere and espn and other us tv had hockey on a lot, i would see him from time to time in even more outlandish suits and starched collars, ranting against foreigners and supporting canadian farmboys. i understand that his brand of politics is toxic, but i would think about him in the hall of fame just for the effect he had on hockey broadcasting back in the day. i wonder what canadians (not habs fans, who probably hate him) think about cherry now?
  5. the white sox have some good young starters. jimmy cannon is not one of them.
  6. its really funny to think how favored the lakers were over the pistons. iirc, once the pistons traded for sheed, they had one of the best records in the league. the lakers were so old.
  7. losing ragnow is a massive loss. they have been stockpiling center/guard types for a while, but there's no replacing the best center in football. this one stings.
  8. glasgow is not the answer. he's done.
  9. kat actually had a nice playoff. but he's such a black hole on defense and being a center providing no interior defense or rim protection really makes it hard for the knicks.
  10. well, the question was whether they could win MORE than one game so.... anyway, okc in 5.
  11. would you trade jaden ivey and two firsts for derrick white?
  12. didnt go to the police, but went straight to civil court looking for money. hmmm... regardless, zion looks like a real peach of a guy i wonder what Moriah Mills thinks of all this?
  13. i'd rather see danielson than toews.
  14. can either of these teams win more than one game against okc?
  15. jonathan toews wants to come back. any interest?
  16. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/45376891/ncaa-president-sees-value-march-madness-bracket-expansion lets just let everyone in! make the regular season meaningless.
  17. copp actually played pretty well last year. compher was garbage. and rasmussen has been such a disappointment.
  18. i know that style of play is what they are said to be looking for. it was why they were so hot after trouba and reportedly wanted stamkos (for that leadership...) and were so happy with perron. they'll give up skill and speed for some grit....debrincat notwithstanding. i am also worried about his age. i was dead set against them re-signing perron but in hindsight i think substituting tarasenko for him sunk them last year.
  19. begs the question again: should they have traded larkin in 2019 when his value was still so high? speaking of what ifs: what if the wings take logan stankovan or wyatt johnston instead of cossa? i know goalies take a long time to develop, but i would deal cossa for a k'andre miller or a bowen byram or a jj peterka if that was on offer...
  20. kreider is becoming a popular trade candidate to detroit. feisty vet winger to play with larkin/raymond. 2x6.5. would probably only cost you the 3rd rounder you have from the rangers. im not sure i do that but i hate kreider.
  21. they couldnt keep marchand, bennett, and marner. they'd lose bennett and marchand if they signed marner. marner is so NOT a panther type player that i cant imagine them breaking up everything to get him. however, they are likely to lose marchand and probably bennett too. maybe they go after him? no state income tax could net them marner on the same or similar deal rantanen got 7×12. however, i think marner gets 13 or 14 from utah or chicago. maybe even more.
  22. it has to have some affiliation to the university, no matter how tenuous, or people really wont care.
  23. max bultman proposed that. tarasenko has zero value. negative value actually. the only way the stars part with marchment is to get rid of salary, they wouldnt take back 4.5 million of uselessness.
  24. https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/article/with-college-sports-in-limbo-and-key-issues-coming-to-a-head-the-spotlight-is-on-the-sec-its-going-to-get-heated-130018106.html basically college sports is going to be dead soon. the sec and big ten are already in discussions to break away. stuff we've been predicting for a while here. the big ten and sec make the most money. they dont want to keep subsidizing the other leagues and eventually they wont. theyre already in talks with private equity firms to break away. people ask why the other leagues would allow the big ten and sec to run everything now so it benefits them? because they could leave and form their own league and leave the other leagues with very little. i wonder when notre dame will wise up and join up with the big ten?
  25. its for all sports. mens and womens. so when is the lawsuit that half of that money has to go to women's sports? how does it square with title ix? edit: i dont know if that's accurate. is it just for football?
