  1. max bultman proposed that. tarasenko has zero value. negative value actually. the only way the stars part with marchment is to get rid of salary, they wouldnt take back 4.5 million of uselessness.
  2. https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/article/with-college-sports-in-limbo-and-key-issues-coming-to-a-head-the-spotlight-is-on-the-sec-its-going-to-get-heated-130018106.html basically college sports is going to be dead soon. the sec and big ten are already in discussions to break away. stuff we've been predicting for a while here. the big ten and sec make the most money. they dont want to keep subsidizing the other leagues and eventually they wont. theyre already in talks with private equity firms to break away. people ask why the other leagues would allow the big ten and sec to run everything now so it benefits them? because they could leave and form their own league and leave the other leagues with very little. i wonder when notre dame will wise up and join up with the big ten?
  3. its for all sports. mens and womens. so when is the lawsuit that half of that money has to go to women's sports? how does it square with title ix? edit: i dont know if that's accurate. is it just for football?
  4. big ten and sec moving to a 16 team playoff system with half the participants guaranteed to come from the big ten and sec. just break away and form your own league already.
  5. people questioned the seider pick and the kasper pick. same with danielson for the same reasons, but we'll see about him this year.
  6. anaheim has $30m in cap space with 20 players signed. the hawks have $25m in cap space with 20 players signed. the wings have $19m in cap space with 14 players signed. do you spend 13-14 of that on marner? the ducks or hawks could give him that and not bat an eye. this is when compher, copp, holl, rasmussen, tarasenko, and (to a lesser extent) chairot contracts come back to bite you.
  7. "Pierre LeBrun: Anaheim, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles among teams interested in Marner; Florida, Vegas are of interest to Marner, among others - TSN 1050" it will be really hard to outbid anaheim and chicago. we might be better off being a cap repository for vegas and/or florida if they need to create space by selling low on some of their players.
  8. gaudreau went from 40 goals with calgary to 21 to 12.
  9. remember how bad you wanted elias lindholm? you want that now? sometimes dudes are done.
  10. most unsurprising thing ever. brendan drafted nylander, marner, and matthews. then signed tavares. not bad. however...with all that talent they only madr it out of the first round TWICE. and he sooooooooooo messed up the marner situation that its going to leave the leafs with (probably) nothing for one of their best players. leafs podcasts have been so funny lately.
  11. hopefully he wont be too mean to the players...
  12. any time canada loses its good for hockey. sorry stanley. no offense.
  13. haliburton v brunson and townes. shoot me. good to see the knicks lose in yhe garden. send all their rich fans home unhappy.
  14. yeah. at 11.5 million a year for the next five years or so? no team is trading for that deal. no sane team.
  15. he's not wrong...
  16. the canucks would do backflips is ANY TEAM would take pettersson off their hands.
  17. chicago is going to throw a bank truck full of money at him. 7×15 would not surprise me. they have more cap space than anyone and a need for a star to play alongside their underperforming superstar. marner-bedard-whomever is a killer line. at least in the regular season. and the hawks dont really care how productive it is in the playoffs but only care that it would be IN the playoffs. i dont see much of a chance for the wings to outbid teams for marner. other teams have as much or more cap space. better off paying way too much for gavrikov or marchand or tavares. although i think marchand goes back to boston and tavares stays in toronto.
  18. happy leafs elimination day to all who celebrate.
  19. i'll remember that when i read your reaction to the pistons signing duren to a $30m per year extension.
  20. if your ultimate goal is to remain below the cap and DEFINITELY below the tax, 30 is spending.
  21. spending on that core would leave the bulls exactly where they want to be: firmly in the play-in game every year and under the luxury tax.
  22. given how poorly cossa played down the stretch and in the playoffs, its not a big surprise that they dont feel he's ready. they have a pretty good backup plan in augustine, but he went back to msu.
  23. lions down to a .5 underdog on draftkings. youre going to get a lot of different lines from different books for something so far off in the future.
