  1. I'm guessing it is mostly about money, I wouldn't trust that old agency to handle my most important contract if they do things like that press release.
  2. I guess it is time? Hopefully haha. I haven't watched it yet but stole summary from hfboards: I am guessing CAA will be tougher negotiators than whatever Dylan had before. His old agent apparently has the reputation of being a dick, and in looking at his roster it seems like Larkin was his biggest player and now he's mad they won't get the new contract payday. It honestly looks like KO Sports must have contact within Michigan because their bigger names all seem to have ties.
  3. I don't like Kadri but I'm not sure what he's supposed to do there. He's battling with a defenseman trying to get to a loose puck outside the crease and gets tangled up with the defenseman. It is unfortunate it happened but I didn't even see a penalty on the play myself. It's like Girard's broken sternum to me, it wasn't illegal just an unfortunate result. Binnington being the absolute baby he is throwing a water bottle at Kadri during an interview is so hilarious though. Dude is a major headcase/child and I'm so glad he isn't my team's goalie.
  4. Seems odd to me With the Wings' search being quiet maybe there are some legs to the idea that they're waiting for the Lightning to be done with the playoffs to interview and hire Benoît Groulx
  5. I really hope he can transition to North America well, I've long thought he's a great prospect because of his skating. He seemed to really mature and take a step in the back half of last season and he carried it over.
  6. It isn't like the Wings made a ton of stellar moves after that point, but missing out on Suter and Parise was a blessing in disguise. Instead of sinking into mediocrity we would have done so with those two weighing down the cap the whole time. All I hear about their time with the Wild is bad. Suter is a great player but seems like a guy that is tough to win with because he's a terrible teammate.
  7. I would say no but I also don't know these prospects that well. I would hope that the Wings could get two quality players with those picks + whatever else they would need to give up for the one pick. I would be interested in Kasper out of Rogle with this 8th pick overall.
  8. Would Trotz even want to come to Detroit? He seems like a classic safe veteran > younger players coach to me, and while he's a great one, I'm not sure the Wings are in the place to take him on. But maybe I'm off, seems to me like he would be better suited with say Vegas than where Detroit is at.
  9. After reading a bit about Lambert I think I am off his bandwagon, seems like buddha's fear would be his plan.
  10. OT for the Rags and Pens after a goal was called off for New York
  11. I think Buddha has it right with an Eichel package and more. Top prospect (Krebs), younger established player (Tuch), first round pick, and a second round pick for Eichel and a third. I'm not sure teams would pay that sort of price but who knows since it is hard to find centers. I wouldn't expect Larkin to be traded ever though.
  12. My hope is that he would be his own coach as the head boss and adapt what he's learned from his defensive-minded bosses and apply that to fit what the Wings need. But I do agree I wouldn't want to play like the Islanders.
  13. I am going to shamelessly steal from Bultman's article on candidates for the people who jumped out at me: Fedorov and Larionov would be nice sentimental picks but I'm not sure if they have the resumes for the job yet even compared to the other "inexperienced" coaches here
  14. Give me the Frolunda coach or Lane Lambert. I'm not personally interested in the same names that get cycled through bad teams year after year. Especially Tortorella, please dear god no. He would probably play Vrana 6 minutes a night and trash him in the media after every game. The young coaches in college also intrigue me, I would hope they would be more flexible than Blashill was with his shitty systems. Yzerman's last coach hire was Jon Cooper (now the longest tenured coach in the NHL) who had never coached in the NHL before getting the gig in Tampa. I hope he goes this route with the Wings.
  15. If you can get a strong trade package for him I would do it. I am not sure the Wings will be competing in his "prime" and as he loses his speed with age I'm not sure how effective he'll be making top money. I don't talk about this much because I don't think it is a popular take but I also have questions on whether or not he's that great of a leader/captain for the Wings. He seems to do a great job of getting guys together outside of the rink and welcoming people to the team, but on the ice he seems to lose his temper very easily and I am not sure how much blame he should get vs say Blashill for the team looking unprepared and disinterested for stretches across his time with the C. He does a great job of looking annoyed postgame and talking about how they didn't play hard enough but I'd love to see him actually motivate the guys to do so (if even possible). It isn't a huge concern for me by any stretch but also probably a big part of why I would be fine trading him away.
  16. It is hilarious to see him stickhandle through men and still look like a giant. Our old friend Vili Saarijärvi was trying to defend him there, man he sucks.
  17. Was it ever revealed what they would have traded to Edmonton for Wayne? https://detroithockeynow.com/2022/04/27/draper-red-wings-will-make-johansson-decision-seasons-end/ I've been pretty high on Johansson for a while here so I am getting excited to potentially see him in North America soon. Between him and Wallinder making significant strides this season we may be moving towards a competent defense in a few seasons.
  18. I think the Griffins got eliminated from playoff contention, it would be cool for Berggren to get a few games here with the Wings
