  1. In other news: Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco has been placed back on paid administrative leave through June 1, as part of a joint agreement between MLBand the MLBPA, a league source said Thursday. The agreement was first reported by the Tampa Bay Times.
  2. Joe Lieberman, a former longtime Connecticut senator and moderate Democrat who became the first Jewish American nominated to a major party’s presidential ticket as Al Gore’s running mate in 2000, has died. He was 82.
  3. I just read a piece on Ohtani that was interesting. If Ohtani made ZERO dollars playing for the Dodgers this year he would still make more than any other player in 2024 based on endorsements in the US and Japan. Raking it in!
  4. I’ll play along. https://clutchpoints.com/dodgers-news-shohei-ohtani-espn-inquiries-theft-allegations-interpreter
  5. Tyler Alexander is slotted as Rays #4 starter to start the season.
  6. Baez with a lead off double. How about that!!!
  7. pretty decent article on SS projections, worth the read. Forbes https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevevernon/2024/03/21/will-social-security-run-out-of-money-if-so-when/?sh=7c149d833ab7
  8. You’re asking the same question that millions of Americans are asking, and rightfully so. Projections aren’t encouraging for the life and/or stability of the program. There are plenty of articles out there about the future of SS that do provide some credible guidance on the program. Google them. The consensus is that if cuts are implemented, they will not be applied to people beyond a certain age. My impression through articles I’ve read is that you would likely not be affected. Nothing is in stone though. My son is 37 years of age. I do concern myself in his case. Easier said than done I know, but avoid getting stressed out over all the bull**** purposely put out their by competing media sources trying to influence your perspective on this.
  9. Reportedly the ship was experiencing mechanical issues prior to the collision.
  10. Ryan Pepiot is the primary return for Glasgow to the Dodgers. One wish for today…NO injuries.
  11. Interesting, but not surprising. Anyone want to take a stab at why the surrounding Arab communities aren’t interested in assisting their neighbors in their time of need? Anybody? WSJ- “About a week after the U.S. and other Western countries froze funding to a U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees called Unrwa in late January, its top official flew to the Arab Gulf, hoping wealthy Arab monarchies would save the organization at a time when it is the main provider of humanitarian aid in Gaza. The effort came up lacking. Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, raised $85 million from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates for 2024, far short of the funding lost when the U.S. and others cut off aid following allegations that at least a dozen agency employees took part in the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel. Last year, the U.S. alone gave the agency more than $422 million.”
  12. Palestinian terrorists groups operating out of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan were conducting attacks against the state of Israel and Israeli intel was suggesting an attack from surrounding Arab countries was imminent. Egypt had been actively trying to block Israeli access to international shipping. Put in perspective, just as in today, the radical Arabs wanted to eliminate Israel. Israel, being fully aware of this, chose wisely and acted. I believe any country with the military capabilities would have been wise to do the same. Wouldn’t you think? Israel took the Golan Heights, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip in this war. Based on their adversaries in 1967, holding these locations is paramount for security purposes. Israel remains under constant threats from Arab terrorists to the north today. I know you have a real hang up with “religion” as you have expressed on this board repeatedly. That said, religion had nothing to do with Israel striking first in 1967. It was a matter of survival against aggressive Arab neighbors that wanted Israel destroyed. I would think you’d support the US being proactive under the same circumstances. Would you not?
  13. Do you know why Israel struck first?
  14. Knowing what we do regarding the history of the Six Days War, why would you expect Israel to cede the land/territories they conquered in the war? Why do you believe they refuse to give the land back?
  15. Realistically, Chapman and Snell will most likely opt out after this year. I was only interested in Chapman as I thought he would fill an immediate need here. Everything is 20/20 hindsight at this point, but Chapman would have been the perfect placeholder for one year at third base in Detroit. Urshela was a solid move as an alternate choice.
  16. Flaherty leaves after throwing 88 pitches and 8 k’s in 4.2 innings.
  17. Both starters over 60 pitches after three innings.
