  1. I’m guessing it’s something to with the Rivalry Weekend charade.
  2. Bruce Bochy gives Sparky some props after passing him in the all time wins list of managers. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/bruce-bochy-passes-sparky-anderson-on-all-time-manager-wins-list.html
  3. Correct. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/_/id/17710/jack-flaherty
  4. Maeda signs a minor league deal with the Cubs.
  5. Agree. It’s time for him to step up and remind the fan base why ownership brought him back. He’s a top of the rotation guy and tonights a good night to remind the masses.
  6. I have truly tried. It’s a heavy lift.
  7. I wish Jason Benetti would win the lottery and would never have to work again, especially in the Tigers broadcast booth. It has become a labor of love to get through the games recently with his constant talking, talking, talking…trying to be funny, trying to be a trivia guy, trying to be a pun master…anything to keep talking. If he were paid by the word he’d be set for life. Dirks isn’t much better. Former jocks are rarely worth the gab they produce. I used to like him when he was on radio to begin with. Why is it that Dirks has to tell you all about the plays that you just witnessed with your own eyes! Every now and then he’ll offer up a decent piece of information or something of interest, but not very often. When Dirks and Benetti hit high gear with their jabber, I can honestly say, I miss Rod and Mario. I’ve enjoyed the few games Dan Dickerson have done together on TV. He and “Peaches” are a good combo. end of Boomer rant…
  8. BALTIMORE -- A scary moment occurred for the Twins in the series finale at Camden Yards on Thursday afternoon as shortstop Carlos Correa and center fielder Byron Buxton, two mainstays of Minnesota’s lineup, collided on a flyout in shallow center field in the bottom of the third inning. Correa exited after a lengthy injury delay as both players were attended to. He was replaced in the batting order by Jonah Bride, who took over at first base while Kody Clemens moved to second base and Brooks Lee moved to shortstop.
  9. I wonder how long it will be until there is breaking news out of Baltimore. The Orioles were supposed to be where the Tigers are this year. They now occupy the bottom of the AL East.
  10. Re: WWI I just finished reading the book, July 1914, by Sean McMeekin. Very good book!
  11. Even though the alleged Pelosi quote was likely taken out of context, my first thought after reading your comment was, ‘We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it.’ I mean, that is how the federal government operates. I have searched for what funds/companies/stocks would be in this investment. I’m not finding anything on this. The Joint Committee on Taxation pegs the cost of these new accounts to the Treasury at $17.3 billion over 10 years. Of course, the taxes on the realized gains would recoup some this money. I don’t know why the morons in Washington don’t just work to improve the existing Roth IRA options that currently exist now. The Roth IRA is one of the most under appreciated investment vehicles out there for the average investor. This would be a much better approach than what I’m seeing in this bill.
  12. So what can we get in return for Parker Meadows? 😁
  13. After reading the Morningstar piece, I’m not at all impressed with this idea. The money is taxed upon withdrawal. That’s a huge penalty on the idea as a whole.
  14. A little bit more information here on the maga fund. https://www.morningstar.com/news/marketwatch/20250513438/1000-maga-accounts-wont-actually-make-most-american-kids-richer-experts-say
  15. Well…it appears as though my hope of seeing Max Clark this week in Richmond will not come to fruition as he is still at High A. This week is the only trip Erie will make to Richmond. 😢
  16. Warren Schaeffer will be the “interim” manager. He’s been in the Rockies organization for years. He was managing the Asheville Tourists years back when we saw them play and they were affiliated with Colorado. He played for Asheville prior to getting into coaching. He may work out to be a good choice. I agree with what Dave Roberts said in defense of Black upon his firing, (paraphrasing) ‘Casey Stengal couldn’t make this team a winner.’
  17. That’s the buzz on the boards.
  18. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6347037/2025/05/10/astros-lance-mccullers-jr-death-threats/ I’d like to respond with, Unbelievable! Hardly, in today’s world.
  19. I’m officially on record as being concerned about Flaherty. With Cobb’s track record you really don’t know when he’ll be ready. And with Mize out for a couple of weeks the starters have to be good enough for quality starts. I’m not getting a positive vibe from Flaherty here.
  20. Velo has been a conversation recently regarding Flaherty. Whether it’s Nido or Flaherty but it does look like he’s throwing a lot of off speed stuff. No heat?
  21. Flaherty ain’t got it.
  22. Don’t forget the tip of the hat to ERod. What a disaster of a signing for Arizona. Between Bumgarner, Montgomery, and ERod the Dbacks have thrown away a lot of money. And their new city connects…🤮

    Good one!
  24. Concur. Outside the actual players/manager interviews it’s not very interesting.
