  1. Brutal conditions on the field.
  2. Well, that ain’t good.
  3. I remember that year well, particularly when the 1993 collapse began. They played a three game series in Baltimore starting June 22nd. We attended games two and three in that series. I remember listening to the game on the 22nd while I was washing and cleaning the car for the trip, not kidding. I was looking forward to seeing Camden Yards the following day for the first time. I was listening to Orioles radio that evening because I could get a clear signal and Jon Miller was calling Orioles games then. I clearly recall the blown lead while listening to the game that evening. That began a 10 game losing streak. I believe they lost 13 out of the next 14 games. It was the beginning of the end in 1993.
  4. The Seawolves will have no input into the branding. If I’m a local to the Erie area, I don’t know that I’d be overly happy about this. Overwhelmingly, MiLB teams are resorting to gimmicky names and uniforms. I hope this goes well.
  5. It is nothing but a brazen exercise to cash in at the veteran’s expense. Capitalize on their sacrifices-the American way. Two years ago the Durham Bulls, like every other opportunistic entity, were sending me emails (ticket holders) about their Armed Forces Hat grift offer. They were pushing these hats front and center on their website. I emailed the team’s GM and inquired as to what percent of the hat sale proceeds would go toward veteran’s causes. *crickets* It’s all 🐂 💩!
  6. Monday morning WSJ: Now baseball is trying to settle the debate once and for all. On Tuesday, MLB will launch a pilot program in the minor leagues of a replay system for check swings, the term used to describe when a hitter begins to swing but then stops partway through. The test, which will take place in the Single-A Florida State League, is an effort to inject a degree of objectivity into the murkiest calls umpires have to make. The new rule will work similarly to the automated strike zone that was auditioned during spring training this year and uses the same technology. Teams will have the ability to ask a computer to determine whether a hitter swung or not. If the head of the bat is ahead of the knob on the end by more than 45 degrees, the pitch will be deemed a strike. Check Check MLB will start testing a challenge system for checking a swing. If the head of the bat is ahead of the knob by more than 45 degrees it will be considered a swing. Source: MLB Brian McGill/WSJ League officials caution that the system—which was briefly introduced last year in the Arizona Fall League—remains a work in progress. It is still far too soon to begin to contemplate when or if a version of it will ever come to the majors.
  7. A week from tomorrow the Giants are in Motown for a three game series. That should be a good one.
  8. Bert, wasn’t there, at one time, a Rockies affiliate near your neck of the woods at some point? Tri City Devils? We were fans of the Low A Rockies affiliate in Asheville (Tourists) until Manfred & Co. shuffled teams around in 2020. The Low A Rockies affiliate went from Asheville, NC to Fresno, Ca. in that shuffle. The current Rockies manager, Warren Schaffer, was the Tourists manager for several games we saw in Asheville. I hated when Asheville lost their affiliation with Colorado. We had a really good friend that was the Assistant GM with the Tourists for several years. In 2014 my wife and I drove to Hagerstown, MD to see the Tourists win the South Atlantic Championship versus the Hagerstown Suns (Washington Nationals) team. In 2020 Asheville got stuck with Houston when they lost their Colorado affiliation. That’s rock bottom. As bad as Colorado is these days I still like to see them do well.
  9. The Twins have moved into 2nd place.
  10. Orioles fire Brandon Hyde.
  11. Cleveland lost. Twins getting it done again.
  12. Brieske = nail biter.
  13. It’s all about selling some goofy ass hats. They look like 💩
  14. Somewhat of a break with Peaches in the booth with Benetti tonight.
  15. I’m guessing it’s something to with the Rivalry Weekend charade.
  16. Bruce Bochy gives Sparky some props after passing him in the all time wins list of managers. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/bruce-bochy-passes-sparky-anderson-on-all-time-manager-wins-list.html
  17. Correct. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/_/id/17710/jack-flaherty
  18. Maeda signs a minor league deal with the Cubs.
  19. Agree. It’s time for him to step up and remind the fan base why ownership brought him back. He’s a top of the rotation guy and tonights a good night to remind the masses.
  20. I have truly tried. It’s a heavy lift.
  21. I wish Jason Benetti would win the lottery and would never have to work again, especially in the Tigers broadcast booth. It has become a labor of love to get through the games recently with his constant talking, talking, talking…trying to be funny, trying to be a trivia guy, trying to be a pun master…anything to keep talking. If he were paid by the word he’d be set for life. Dirks isn’t much better. Former jocks are rarely worth the gab they produce. I used to like him when he was on radio to begin with. Why is it that Dirks has to tell you all about the plays that you just witnessed with your own eyes! Every now and then he’ll offer up a decent piece of information or something of interest, but not very often. When Dirks and Benetti hit high gear with their jabber, I can honestly say, I miss Rod and Mario. I’ve enjoyed the few games Dan Dickerson have done together on TV. He and “Peaches” are a good combo. end of Boomer rant…
  22. BALTIMORE -- A scary moment occurred for the Twins in the series finale at Camden Yards on Thursday afternoon as shortstop Carlos Correa and center fielder Byron Buxton, two mainstays of Minnesota’s lineup, collided on a flyout in shallow center field in the bottom of the third inning. Correa exited after a lengthy injury delay as both players were attended to. He was replaced in the batting order by Jonah Bride, who took over at first base while Kody Clemens moved to second base and Brooks Lee moved to shortstop.
