  1. I like this idea. Years ago on this board I suggested trading for McMahon when he was still in the minors. He has matured into a reliable piece for the Rockies. I don’t know if Colorado would part with him without additional compensation, players or money. They’re going nowhere so they would likely listen to offers. I’ve made a comment or two here about how deep the Rays are at shortstop and/or third base, even after the loss of Franco. Harris should at least have a conversation there as well. But I’m a realist, he won’t.
  2. If Brant Hurter was a little more seasoned in Toledo I’d consider him as a Wentz replacement from the left.
  3. Agreed. I would have taken the Chapman contract as it is structured though.
  4. I’d wager he’s feasting on weak AAA pitching.
  5. Tork goes deep for Toledo!
  6. You are not alone. The Chity Connects are ghetto rags. The hat is 💩.
  7. What could the Tigers get in return for those City Connect uniforms?
  8. In other words…clueless.
  9. Econ 101. Give it a shot. You might learn something.
  10. Have a conversation with Flaherty’s agent to see if an extension is possible. Personally, I would doubt so. But that’s part of due diligence of an organization head. Know where you stand prior to the deadline.
  11. This may not be the news you think it is. The first reports following this release this morning was that we shouldn’t expect rates to come down so soon as was hoped for. Higher rates for longer aren’t what most workers are hoping for. Consumers, particularly blue collar workers, are under a lot of weight right now. The news is a catch 22 to be honest.
  12. 4a. Illitch doesn’t know east from west and Harris doesn’t feel any obligation to push any envelopes at this point. Illitch doesn’t involve himself in operations other than to look at the $$$. If that’s good, it’s all good.
  13. In fairness, no one on this board is truly qualified and/or informed enough to answer that question. The point is, any and all information lies within the FO and among the research guys. It’s not information that any of us would have to make a truly informed decision. However, that doesn’t change the premise of the argument that it can be done and should be something that is being pursued. In anyone’s opinion, what is the most impactful trade Harris has made in any FO to date?
  14. I believe, to one degree or another, this comment would apply to most all media outlets.
  15. Not entirely true. The EB is 95% conservative in its op-eds. The writers, not so much. In fact, maybe two years ago a number of writers for the Journal submitted a letter to the EB voicing their opposition to the EB’s political musings. As a conservative, and years long subscriber, the not so subtle change in the writers is obvious to the trained eye 😉
  16. not nit picking… Out of curiosity I looked up his contract. The Dodgers even deferred this contract! Teoscar Hernandez finalized a one-year, $23.5-million US contract with the Dodgers in January, the latest deal by big-spending Los Angeles that includes deferred money. The outfielder agreed to defer $8.5 million that will be paid in 10 equal installments each July 1 from 2030-39.
  17. For anyone here that pines to see Tyler Alexander pitch again, come on down. He’s starting for the Durham Bulls tonight.
  18. No hitter there for a while. I made it a point not to mention it until AFTER the first hit.
  19. To this I say, YES! Virginia Will Exit California Electric Vehicle Mandate at End of Year RICHMOND, Va. - Governor Youngkin today announced the end of the California electric vehicle mandate in Virginia, effective at the end of 2024 when California’s current regulations expire. An official opinion from Attorney General Jason Miyares in response to a request by the Governor and Senate Republican Leader Ryan McDougle confirms that Virginia is not required to comply with expansive new mandates adopted by the unelected California Air Resources Board (CARB) set to take effect January 1, 2025. In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed legislation authorizing Virginia’s Air Board to adopt California’s “Advanced Clean Cars I” regulation pursuant to Section 177 of the federal Clean Air Act. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) recently adopted “Advanced Clean Cars II,” set to take effect January 1, 2025, which would require 100% of new cars sold in Model Year 2035 to be electric vehicles. An opinion from Attorney General Jason Miyares confirms the law, as written, does not require Virginia to follow ACC II. Therefore, the Commonwealth will follow federal emissions standards on January 1, 2025. Under Advanced Clean Cars II, beginning in Model Year 2026, 35% of the new cars sold would have been required to be electric vehicles, moving up to 100% in 2035. If an auto manufacturer sells a standard automobile out of compliance with California’s mandate, they may be required to pay a fine upwards of $20,000 per vehicle sold. Given that EVs only amounted to 9% of vehicles sold in Virginia in 2023, application of the misguided mandates could have resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in penalties. Virginia auto consumers and dealers could be forced to bear these costs. Not only would this leave auto dealers with less money to pay staff, offer raises, and grow their businesses, it could force many small auto dealers to permanently close their doors. The Attorney General’s opinion can be found here.
  20. Tork with a decent night. 2-4 with 2 K’s. Meadows with a home run.
  21. How in the world is Feiger Law the official law firm of the Tigers instead of our friends at Sam Bernsteins? You can’t trust anybody these days.
  22. It reminded me of the fake wrestling acts. Ventura approached Ryan and put his head into the perfect headlock position. Ryan took it from there. Hawk Harrelson lives.
  23. I think it’s going to be really interesting if the Tigers are borderline wild card eligible at the trade deadline. Let’s say they win 5 of 7 games approaching the deadline, showing a little momentum. Let’s assume that Flaherty is the same guy he’s been to date, health intact. Does Harris trade him?
  24. Well, we got two wins before our ace, Maeda, pitches tomorrow night.
