  1. Thanks for the link. One of the best conversations I’ve listened to involving Hinch. Sounding like 3rd base is still in flux. It’ll be interesting to see where Matt Chapman lands.
  2. Ahh, to be young again.
  3. WSJ 01/29/24 The U.S. failed to stop a deadly attack on an American military outpost in Jordan because the enemy drone approached its target at the same time a U.S. drone was also returning to base, U.S. officials said Monday. The return of the U.S. drone led to some confusion over whether the incoming drone was friend or foe, officials have concluded so far. The enemy drone was launched from Iraq by a militia backed by Tehran, U.S. officials said. The outpost, Tower 22, sits in Jordan, hard on the borders of Iraq and Syria. The U.S. has yet to find evidence thus far that Iran directed the attack, a U.S. defense official said Monday.
  4. She’s flashing an 82 million dollar smile.
  5. That’s what I figured. It would be nice if he could bring that position to the major league level.
  6. So where does this leave Jace Jung position wise in Detroit?
  7. Someone decided it was Jackie Robinson’s day to be removed. https://apple.news/A3wnyvg2VT1GhZRBiI6_Tbg
  8. We have friends that have a grandson that has played baseball on a travel team the past couple of years. They live in the Raleigh, NC area. They’ve done weekend tournaments in Atlanta, Charleston, SC to name just two. Their life is literally about baseball travel during the season. I don’t see how they do it. The costs for parents/grandparents is a lot! Travel, lodging, meals are just the beginning. These teams pay fees to enter these tournaments and the parents have to write that check as well.
  9. Very good read if you have a few minutes… https://www.mlb.com/news/dr-james-andrews-world-renowned-orthopaedic-surgeon-retires
  10. As one would expect. It’s easier to do as they actually did, blame the US. I would be willing to bet they received the warning and purposely did not act, all while formulating an anti west (US/Israel) propaganda message for after the fact.
  11. I really wasn’t about getting into comparisons or “better than them” conversations. This is a here and now issue. If Biden fears reprisals from his own party for addressing the inadequacies of border security, that’s a bad look for a lot of people, starting with Biden.
  12. I know the border and financial support for Ukraine was/is a thing. However, he does’t have to make a deal with the GOP to act on the border. Biden’s willingness to be an observer here is discussing. I get your third rail examples (SS & immigration) but I cannot begin to see those as anything like reasonable comps. There are cities run by Democrat mayors/politicians that are struggling under the weight of this unchecked immigration. It’s not like we didn’t already have a homeless issue to begin with. They are pleading for resources to help deal with this issue. Where are the adults in the room? Is the plan to just continue to pretend it’s somebody else’s problem? There is no logic here, none. I keep trying to tell myself I’m missing the obvious. It ain’t working.
  13. From the WSJ-January 25, 2024 The U.S. secretly warned Iran that Islamic State was preparing to carry out the terrorist attack early this month that killed more than 80 Iranians in a pair of coordinated suicide bombings, U.S. officials said. The confidential alert came after the U.S. acquired intelligence that Islamic State’s affiliate in Afghanistan, ISIS-Khorasan, known as ISIS-K, was plotting to attack Iran, they said. American officials said the information passed to Iran was specific enough about the location and sufficiently timely that it might have proved useful to Tehran in thwarting the attack on Jan. 3 or at least mitigating the casualty toll.
  14. So I read the entire document above as submitted by Abbott. First, is there anything, or things, in the document that are not true? Additionally, why is the Biden administration so hands-off on an issue that is a national concern? Particularly as it relates to his re-election concerns. Will someone make Biden’s objectives clear here and why he is refusing to act without injecting a former presidents name, please. Thank you.
  15. Two of Trump’s lapdogs are serving as props for him in the piece. Tim Scott, chosen by Haley to serve from SC in the U.S. Senate, smiles approvingly of Trumps criticism of her. What a pathetic case. He is apparently under the illusion that Trump gives a sh*t about him. These morons will be the next Cohen, Meadows, Rudy, and on and on.
  16. I believe that would apply to Biden or Trump. Biden’s low profile prior to 2020 wasn’t an accident.
  17. Haley said the VP is “off the table.”
  18. Who did Mark Gorosh vote for? 😁
  19. This is what I’m hoping for. She actually fared better than I expected in this race.
  20. I hope Haley stays in this and doesn’t bail out. DeSantis and Scott went down on bended knees for Trump.
  21. Has there been any news on how the “fix it” for Baez is progressing this off season? Harris made it clear that there would be a plan to address his plate issues. Curious as to know how/if that is progressing if anyone has heard anything being this close to camp?
  22. Nevin going back to Baltimore. A true AAA farmhand. Maybe this is the big transaction that has been holding the market up. Look for things to roll from here.
  23. Looking forward to spring training more than usual this year. We bought tickets for three of the ST games, two games in Lakeland and one in Ft. Myers. Lots of newer faces this year should be fun to watch. It would be really nice if the injuries stay to a minimum and nothing serious through the spring. It “feels like 18 degrees here this morning. Yes, I look forward to spring training.
  24. Devin Sweet was claimed off waivers one month ago today by the Giants.
