  1. If the MTS Board is discussing shortstop options on March 3rd, Harris and Hinch should be way out in front of this. I’d like to see El Mago find his Mago but I am zero on confidence at this point. The ‘we’re not going to block anyone’ mantra should apply here as well.
  2. If these guys can just stay healthy…
  3. Without question. I just hope they don’t drag their feet on this waiting for the impossible. This is one ugly contract.
  4. As of the completion of today’s game, I am tied with Baez for base hits this spring.
  5. If I’m not mistaken, Haley said that SS and Medicare need reforming. I believe she is correct on both counts. Trump accused her of planning to cut SS-not the same. Trump states that Haley’s plan cuts SS for 82% of recipients. Later retirement ages-means testing, etc., should be on the table. The system cannot sustain in it’s present model. I applaud a politician that has the willingness to even broach this topic.
  6. I do believe this is her long game plan. I can’t come up with any other rationale other than that.
  7. No, that’s what you’re saying.
  8. I traversed to Steinbrenner Field in 2007 for an ST game between the Tigers and Yankees. Sat a few rows up behind the Tigers dugout (thank you stubhub). It was pretty awesome to see the two names, Kaline and Leyland, on road gray jerseys leaning on the dugout rail side by side just below my seat.
  9. As I stated earlier, I wish she would run as an Independent.
  10. I wish Nikki Haley would run as an independent in November. I believe this would send the Trump and Biden camps into a full blown panic attack. I would cast my vote for her and I firmly believe she would command a very respectable percentage of the votes, enough so to influence the outcome. There still exists a Republican Party that isn’t MAGA. We’re currently the Hebrews that are in the desert, post Egypt exit. Where is our Moses?
  11. As a fully functioning human being, there is absolutely no way I will cast a vote for a political party that I am diametrically opposed to. My point of view currently is that I would be ashamed to walk out of a voting booth and have to admit to anyone that I just cast a vote for Biden or Trump. I’ll look at the down ticket and go from there and likely write in a name for the presidency if nothing changes from the current tide. I’ll not endorse, through my vote, anyone that I don’t believe in.
  12. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/02/us/politics/biden-trump-times-siena-poll.html The New York Times, no less.
  13. To a great number of voters, Trump represents their voice in politics. Trump’s base is ANTI-Washington, period. Understand, his standing ethically or morally doesn’t matter to his supporters because he is representing their disgust with the left while he is in office. If he’s out of bounds, so what. The whole of Washington is broken. I understand the MAGA perspective. Trump is just playing within the rules of Washington politics. There are no good guys in Washington. That’s the perspective. War is war. The fact of the matter is, a Trump/Biden contest in November is a disgusting thought. We’re looking at the two lowest common denominators facing off…again. Regardless of the outcome, as a nation we lose. This is my takeaway. That this is where we are as a nation is so disappointing. I have always found politics interesting, the personalities in politics especially so. Come November, I will in all likelihood be without a choice for most offices on the ballot. If Trump has endorsed a candidate on the ballot, I’m not voting for that candidate. If a candidate on the ballot has endorsed Trump, I’m not voting for that candidate. Mitt Romney recently disclosed that he has voted for his wife Ann in 2016 and 2020. He stated she’ll get his vote in 2024 as well. She may get another vote she’s not expecting.
  14. Flaherty is my pick to click in the rotation this season if he can stay healthy.

The above is the ninth comment recorded in this thread. There hasn’t been a better comment here since.
  16. The Baez situation is going to have to be dealt with at some point. You can’t have that big a hole in the batting order and expect to compete.
  17. Wilmer Flores with a much better outing today. Brant Hurter might be a dark horse this year.
  18. Interesting. I guess this ends his affiliation with the LP.

Interesting article posted in 2017 regarding the Joshua mention above. https://www.timesofisrael.com/eclipse-stopped-the-sun-for-biblical-joshua-israeli-scientists-say/
  20. Susan Collins came to mind and then I read that she’s already stated she’s not interested. Trump’s people wouldn’t support her anyway.
  21. Yigal Amir, Rabin’s assassin, had some of his family members met with Alan Dershowitz in an effort to persuade Dershowitz to represent him in his case. The grounds on which Amir wanted to claim a defense are interesting. Dershowitz opted not to take the case.
  22. It will be interesting to see how this plays out going forward.
  23. Yep, I blew that one. Mize went 35 pitches, 17 strikes. Better. Good to have him back on the mound.
  24. Mize lasts 23 pitches, only 10 of which were strikes. Recorded only two outs before leaving. Rough start. Colt Keith with 2 RBI.
  25. It’s a process.
