  1. …the off season thread is flailing…
  2. I was educated on that term about 10 years ago. As I recall, the guy explaining it was a half back himself.
  3. We need immigration. You know here in the triangle the housing and business construction is through the roof (pun of the day). This area could not begin to back fill the overwhelming number of workers here that are immigrants, no way. Their work ethic is second to none. I just want to see a sane and rational structure for the immigration of people entering this country.
  4. No, this is the fault of the spineless GOP blowhards that fear Trump and his retribution skills.
  5. Chas, If Biden ever needs a new speech writer, I’m referring you.
  6. What did our VP see when she was there several years ago…😉 or did I miss that report?
  7. I could not agree more.
  8. Perhaps. The results are what concern me.
  9. James Lankford, coauthor of the current Senate bill regarding immigration reform, states that the current staffing at the border cannot handle the ongoing surge in asylum seekers. He states that there currently exists a protocol, my word, that allows current seekers of humanitarian parole to enter the country, literally, uncontested. Apparently the seekers of entry are giving advance notice of their arrival at the border (through what channels I don’t know) and being directed to predetermined entry points. All they are having to state is that they fear for their lives from whence they came. The border patrol is required to accommodate them. If the backlog is such that they can’t screen them within a reasonable time, they are given work permits and given entry into the country. Lankford points out that under the existing surge of human beings at the border, existing procedures as defined by law, are being short circuited because the numbers are overwhelming the border patrol. the authorities are being asked to do what they’re not equipped to do. These immigrants cross the border and the majority of these people are not screened. The majority of these people are not tracked. They are literally disappearing into the population. No background checks, nothing. Over the past several months, over 50 individuals were identified, with the manpower they do have to do background checks, that were on a terrorists watch list. How many did they miss? We have a border crisis, politics aside. These aren’t word games.
  10. The GOP are political swine, as are the Democrats. As much as I would like to know why Biden, until recently, didn’t care about the border, I would also like to know why grown men and women can fear the reprisals of an unelected blowhard to the point of absurdity.
  11. In other words, you’re not going to answer the question.
  12. Specific to the last three years, has Biden pushed congress at all on legislation to address the border. Yes, he has in the past several months as the issue is showing up in his polling numbers. Early on he sent Kamala to the border…or not? Nothing came of it either way. So why, until recently, has he not acted on the surge of illegal crossings at the border? Does he not recognize this as a national security issue?
  13. Do we have a border crisis or not?
  14. And I commented on that. It’s a total fail. Both parties are leveraging, for political purposes, an urgent national security issue. That three Senators of different political persuasions could come together on a bill is evidence the issue is urgent. And then, the Oklahoma GOP censures Lankford for participating in the creation of this bill.
  15. So the reported 300,000 illegal crossings in December, as reported by numerous media outlets, is a fabricated number?
  16. In the literal sense there has.
  17. You are correct. I would be correct also if I said the same scenario exists on the flip side of your example.
  18. Obviously. Hence, my reference on the political football. The only reason Biden is being vocal on the issue now is because we’re closing in on November and polls indicate this issue is a top concern.
  19. Specific to the border, I disagree. The last three years have been a disaster for unchecked immigration. As a nation we’re going to suffer for this. Actually, we already are. Frankly, I don’t understand Biden’s perspective on immigration. The open border is a national emergency and as president he has been MIA. Why? Land owners along the Texas border have been subjected to the hell for three years, or longer. I just don’t understand the logic in this administrations approach, if there is one. I am grateful that there is a bipartisan bill addressing the issue. I also realize Mike Johnson says it will be DOA in the House. So again, it is a political football that each party is leveraging for power while the country is being overrun by unchecked immigrants. It’s pathetic. Why anybody votes for any of the people I don’t know.
  20. It’s a shame that our national security is now a political football.
  21. Agree. The suspense was between Freehan and George Lee Anderson.
  22. Echoes of MIguy…🤔
  23. The ‘Win Now’ mode.
  24. Just makes one wonder who’s paying them for their time and travel.
