  1. Dombrowski didn't seem to care about service time much either. Personally, I'd rather they bring up players when they are ready. Holding somebody back who is ready in order to manipulate service time is smart in theory but could do more harm in terms of good will and might even lose games in some cases.
  2. I am always looking at the current year, but I don't expect them to contend for the playoffs all season. There is some hope they could sneak in there because the division is weak, but that would be a bonus.
  3. I agree with this. Getting them all to be healthy at the same is going to be the big challenge. We won't know if that can happen until next time next year. What I'm watching for this year is to see what hitters can be part of their future.
  4. DeSantis laughs at his own joke. Nobody else gets it.
  5. Yes, it's headed in the right direction. I just hope it gets there in time for the 2024 election. Biden is not responsible for causing or fixing inflation, but he'll surely get didn't blamed for it if it's too high in 2024.
  6. yeah, I think only a small percentage of fans, especially older ones, know what OPS is. Awareness of advanced stats has increased remarkably in online communities in the past dozen years or so, but when I talk to fans in real life, most of them are still in the 20th century with respect to baseball stats.
  7. Gibson is a smarter broadcaster than I expected him to be and he used to be very good. Unfortunately, his health is slowing him down a lot.
  8. Maybin's delivery is strained, but his content is good. I think I can get used to him. Some guys like Monroe and Morris just get even worse over time because their content is bad.
  9. 4.9% inflation is still very high. There's a long way to go.
  10. Trump probably made him do that. He didn't want to be associated with a bald person.
  11. Pig Snuggler is a troll, but I don't think Archie came here to be a troll.
  12. It's also no coincidence that Johnny Barbato was the last Tiger to pull this off:
  13. What about the previous 7 months?
  14. But writing is for geeks and nerds. Not a real job.
  15. He may be good at bullpen management. That is one area where I think a manager can have an impact and the Tigers bullpen has been consistently good during his tenure. The offense, on the other hand...
  16. I have no problem with Hinch as the manager. I just don't get why every time the Tigers go on a winning streak, he is built up to be a genius. The team does well when the the players do well.
  17. Yes, IngeFanClub was hilarious. I remember one post where he said his truck brakes were failing badly and he wanted to know if it was OK to drive it to the station and how fast he should go.
  18. Many studies have shown that members of households with guns are much more likely to be killed by a gun than those from households without guns. Here's one: https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2022/04/handguns-homicide-risk.html
  19. Dan BingBong with the classic MAGA argument:
  20. Hinch was the manager the first four weeks too. So, if you are going give him credit for the last two weeks, then you need to blame him for the first four. It's 2021 all over again.
  21. If Greene and Torkelson don't hit, their offense will be terrible overall. If they live up to their potential, it will be interesting. I don't think the rest of the team has the talent to sustain anything long term.
  22. But Hinch was the manager in April too.
