  1. You said that the last and you lost a bet!
  2. What is the reason for the first criterion? What difference does it make if the appear on a list?
  3. What I really want is some tough guy to run for president, get into the debates and tell the truth about Trump no holds barred. Then when Trump starts insulting him, this guy goes over and punches him in the face. pay per view!
  4. My feeling was that he didn't have the body type and didn't seem to have the workout regimen to maintain health through his 30s. I thought the same about Prince Fielder. Maybe, I am just a biased sknny runner dude.
  5. I was in favor of all those things at the time. I didn't mind that they extended Cabrera because it was Cabrera and I didnt think they were going to transfer his salary to new players if they didnt sign him. However, it was easy to see that it would probably end badly. Even without him, when you have two aces in your rotation and a strong GM, it gives you a chance to cobble together a supporting cast good enough to contend in a given year instead of being crap year after year.
  6. There are limited situations where the higher BA is preferable. However, if two players have the same OPS and one has a higher batting average, the other player likely also has more extra base hits which makes it more like to get RBI with a runner on first base. So, overall I don't know that the player with the higher average will necessaily have an RBI advantage.
  7. I agree. It was a very good run overall, but they were never clearly the best team in baseball or in the AL. They never had a 1968 or 1984 type season.
  8. I expected him to get a two year deal.
  9. They can make an impact in the general election, but not in the Republican primaries. The cult isn't abanding their leader for anything.
  10. He might not have known that at the time of his decision to opt out. He may have underestimated his value.
  11. If a player is successful in a high percentage of opportunities to drive runners home, it would not be indicative of a clutch skill, but it migfht have some value in retrospect. Baez has an RBI% (RBI/runners on base) of 15.43 which is 126th in baseball.
  12. This is the likely answer. I really doubt that some of his age and salary level would forego significant money to play for the Diamiondbacks.
  13. A sweep gets them to 3 games back.
  14. Three of my favorite people ever.
  15. There were a lot of complaints about how he handled the bullpen that year, so they might have won a few more with another manager. On the other hand, they had a poor bullpen. Maybe Fetter could have helped back then.
  16. They won 90 games and made the playoffs in 2014 and lost in the first round. That happens all the time to good teams. Sure, they could have won a few more games during the regular season with another manager, but they still might have lost in the playoffs. After that, they lost Scherzer which was what truly marked the beginning of their fall. Cabrera and Martinez got hurt in 2015 and Sanchez sucked and they really didn't have a great team. Then they started shedding pieces.
  17. How did Ausmus break down the successful team? He wasn't a good manager, but he can only work with what he was given. It was Avila who provided the players.
  18. The most Trump thing ever:
  19. NICE FIRSTPOST I THINK HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GONE LAST YEAR AND ILLITCH NEEDS TO SPEND SOME MONEY OR SELL THE TEAM!!! ALSO FIRE HARVEY BAYEZ HE SUCKS!!!
  20. I have arm fatigue too and I'm still working! from too much typing.
  21. I haven't noticed loss in functionality for I what use it for, but I noticed the increased cost. They all get that way eventually. I don't like the increased cost, but I think I use it enough to justify it for myself.
  22. He is not the type of player I used to liked because would have been overrated in the past. However, I like what he is doing now (even before he had this remarkable season). There is not enough variety in the game now. Everybody ewants to be an all or nothing slugger now and a lot of players aren't good at it.
  23. His process stats make me believe his results will get better, but it's still not a guarantee. I also can't say with confidence how much better.
  24. It most likely was. As sophomoric as it is, I actually think it's a little too sophisticated for Trump. I don't think the name Pocahontas would be something he'd come up with on his own.
