  1. I vaguely remember he was being pumped up as a smart future manager even back then.
  2. Is this for real or a parody?
  3. Leyland's players did well. The problem was the bullpen. I suppose you could argue that he was part of the bullpen problem.
  4. Their players have very little track record and could very well be as bad as they are playing. It's fair to not judge them too much until their schedule eases up though.
  5. Better magerial record or better players? The Astros have been doing quite well under Dusty Baker.
  6. Dickerson and Maybin have also been talking about an improved team with a new approach and have been preaching patience. They are more intelligent and cautious about it, but I still think a lot of it is them trying to be positive and faithful.
  7. Their relative success in 2021 was largely luck. They were projected to be under 70 wins in 2022 and that's where they ended up. They, of course, had a lot of bad luck in 2022 and their true talent was probably somewhere between their 2021 and 2022 records. I do understand though that agents and players probably don't consider BP/FanGraphs type projections in their selection of teams and the team probably looked more attractive before 2022 than before 2023 even though the talent level was similar.
  8. That is no joke. I really believe he is more about money than anything else. He always has been.
  9. I was flipping channels and saw Buck Farmer. I can confim that he still sucks. He came into a tie game and allowed a home run to the first batter he faced.
  10. Because Hinch is a genius.
  11. Oh no! The Tigers have only 12 pitchers. How will they suirvive?
  12. One thing to remember is that Candelario looked like a pretty good player at the time the trade was made. His two years prior to the trade were better than what Paredes has done since the trade.
  13. As long as you bought it. That's what it's all about!
  14. "I admire the way you constantly lie without any trace of shame."
  15. If they go 24-5, they'll match the '84 Tigers.
  16. Or it might not. Bullpens are unpredictable.
  17. MLB on my phone is like a full minute behind what I see on TV!
  18. Switched to the Blue Jays feed.
  19. I just turned the game on less than a minute ago and already can't stand the broadcasting.
  20. That fact created a lot of anger on the board several years ago. He was viewed by some as a player who was purely a scouting acquisition, somebody that the sabers could not have projected. However, he was actually projected to do well in the majors based on his minor league numbers. Perhaps, the sabers were not right. Maybe, he didn't have the right approach at that time and only put up good numbers in the minors because the parks good for hitters and the pitchers were bad. Maybe, he did need to make an adjustment to become good in the majors. But he DID do well in the minors.
  21. So much of 2021 was based on a flukey good bullpen. Maybe, it wasn't luck. Maybe it was Fetter's influence, but the improved record in 2021 was largely because of the bullpen. So far, their bullpen looks like garbage.
  22. Fick wasn't much. Inge (no matter how much people hated his personality) and Avila both had pretty solid careers. You'd have to consider both of them pluses in terms of player development.
  23. The passwords fit.
