  1. I like him for his all around talent which I still think is under appreciated. I like that he is not a show off and I respect him for staying with his original organization even though they have been a bad team for a long time. Some fans may see that as a shortcoming, but I see it as loyalty to his organization, teammates and perhaps family stability. I would enjoy seeing him have one more big season.
  2. Thank you. Now, explan why so many investors irrationally believe in him. 😀
  3. I don't get how this works. How is Musk so far ahead of Bezos? Bezos seems to have the most sucessful and influential business ever. He has completely transformed the way Americans do retail and it's been going on a long time. It's amazing. This is not just because I dislike Musk. I know he has successful buinesses, but nothing like Amazon.
  4. Yeah, I doubt there was one moment in the middle of the winter where he knew he needed to figure things out. If that's the case, then what happens if the pitchers start pitchng to stop his new approach? Does he need another moment to get him going? I would hope not.
  5. I don't know if it should be a hit, but I think reaching base on an error should be counted as getting on base in the OBP calculation. They could treat it like an HBP which is also largely luck, although I know there are a small number of players who do consistently get hit by the pitch. The same may be true of reaching on an error. I'm not sure.
  6. The last I heard was they offered 6 years and a 2 year opt out, but he wanted a 1 year opt out. Bregman said recently that he thought he was going to be a Tiger 98% of the winter. Maybe that's just what he said to the Detroit media, but he really didn;t have to say something that specific. Everything I have read indicates that the Tigers were seiously interested in him. You may have read different things or interpreted things differently. We will never know.
  7. yes, Sweeney is impressing so far. I am seeing a lot of good signs so far.
  8. That was beautiful! Last year, Tork would have struck out or hit into a DP.
  9. I am OK that they didn't get him too. I am happy that they were seemingly very competive in ther pursuit because it gives me confidence that they won't be cheap in the future. I am not confident that McGonigle will be a major contributor in the next two years and if he is it wouldn't necessarily conflict with signing Bregman.
  10. Because he wanted him for two years. The report was that he offered him an opt out after two years, but Bregman wanted one after one year. Also, the Red Sox offer was very attractive. They wanted him too.
  11. This is the correct answer. I do think having him bat against LHP is a confidence builder, but the reason for batting him sixth is just what you said.
  12. As someone who frequently hikes in natonal forests, I am disgusted.
  13. Have him in the line-up at all against LHP may be a confidence building move which I am glad they are making.
  14. No doubt. If I say I don't understand something that Trump does, it's rhetorical!
  15. Right, I don't think waiters deserve a tax break more than other service workers. I am just not going to get upset if it happens because most of them don't make a lot. I don't think it's fair that overtime workers would get a tax break either since they are already getting time and a half. It's also true that many salaried workers work extra hours without getting paid anything for the extra hours. It's another case though where I am not going to complain about generally low paid people getting a break.
  16. I had not thought about that, but you are probably correct.
  17. I know. Hardly anyone here wanted Bregman, but I think Harris wanted him.
  18. Will the President also be subject to drug testing?
  19. McKinstry is OK but he plays too much. I was really hoping for Bregman and I believe they made a very serious bid to get him. They have a good shot at the division title this year and next. When I look at their rotation and see Torkelson perhaps finally breaking out, I think about how good they'd be with Bregman and a healthy Meadows.
  20. I don't really understand the no taxes on tips and no taxes on overtime. What's so special about those groups? On the other hand, people in those groups typically don't make a lot of money, so I don't begrudge them their break. In theory, I do agree with no taxes on social security since they have paid into it all their lives and you can't expect the elderly to work forever. The problem is I fear they'll use the tax cuts as an excuse to cut the base and they will end up gaining nothing from the tax cut.
  21. What is everybody protesting now? There is much **** going on, it's hard to choose. The anti-Musk thing seems to be working as GOP kind of wants him out of there.
  22. How about not have a pre-planned celebration? Just be sponaneous and real.
  23. One week of defensive WAR is pretty sketchy. Ibanez and McKinstry are good bench players, but I don't want them getting too many at bats.
  24. Somebody wrote a whole book about how he cheats at golf.
