  1. Wouldn't the teams that lost the lottery be paying a little less according to the slots? It seems like it would be a wash financially.
  2. Those 20 run games happened the first week I discovered the internet. I was looking at news groups and there was a messageboard where people all over the country were talking about baseball. And someone mentioned the Tigers. It was amazing!
  3. The players seem to think it will make a difference. They are the ones who wanted it. I just like it based on principle.
  4. I think Law didn't like the Tigers a few years ago because they had poor prospects and he delivered the news correctly. Now, they have good prospects, so he likes them.
  5. I don't think the last place team is necessarily in more need of help than teams a few spots ahead of them. Maybe the last place has been "tanking" for five years and already got some high picks. Maybe the team five spots ahead of them just got old and this is their first bad year. I would say that the latter team was more in need of draft pick help.
  6. It depends on how many teams are in the lottery. It won't be 30 teams. If it's 8 teams, all 8 teams are going to need to get better. The team that finishes last is not more deserving of the first pick than several other bad teams.
  7. I don't really care about the draft lottery. It will be an interesting piece of news to look forward to and I won't have to see Tigers fans rooting for the team to lose in their bad years. On principle, I also don't like teams being rewarded for incompetence. I agree that it won't make a big difference though.
  8. The draft lottery is happening!
  9. I am sure you knew. Good fans knew, but I remember a lot of media people saying the Tigers were losing because they struck out too much. Red Sox fans too!
  10. How is that a push back? They lost because of bad pitching like you said. If they manufactured runs instead of hit homers, they still would have lost because of bad pitching. They scored a lot of runs and they would have won a lot of games if they had good pitching. Now, most teams in baseball try to hit the way the early 90s Tigers hit except it's even more extreme now. It used be exciting when the Tigers were the only ones doing it. Now, it's boring because everybody is doing it. There is no variation.
  11. I remember everybody used to say that team couldn't win because all they did was try to hit home runs and they struck out too much. it never occurred to them that they had one of the best offenses in baseball and didn't win because their pitching was terrible.
  12. To be fair, he does seem to have an eating problem.
  13. Manfred will give us some BS about about how they are working hard and made a fair offer and he wants to start the season on time, but the players are not negotiating in good faith.
  14. I have never paid much attention to it, especially now that I work at home most of the time. I don't know how much particular items of food cost either. I notice that the total price has gone up, but it would have anyway because I have switched to Instacart which means there is a service fee and a tip. I notice how much things that I don't need cost more than things that I need to survive.
  15. An hour wait is not easy. If it took that long for me I probably wouldn't bother most years. It takes me about 15 minutes to vote in person.
  16. I thought Stegmasn was going to be awesome becasuse he batted .345 in AA ball.
  17. I called a lot of Tettleton homers! I could tell by the look on his face! I am sure there were a lot of false positives, but that's not what I remember. Everyone used to talk about Fielder, but Tettleton was better and even more fun.
  18. Adduci was just hired as the "strength and conditioning" coordinator.
  19. That doesn't indicate that their drafting and international signings have gotten better.
  20. It must be somebody here.
  21. Imagine thinking Trump is a macho man.
  22. I don't like going to restaurants, so Covid has been a good excuse not to go! I prefer takeout.
  23. I think it's because both parties are terrible and people are embarrassed to belong to a party. I will never belong to a party because they are both more interested in serving Wall Street than the people. I have generally voted Democrat because the stuff they pretend to care about is better than the stuff the Republicans pretend to care about. Plus, the Republican party is now a pathetic joke ever since Trump took over.
  24. Yes. his defense seems to be good. Hopefully, the injury does not diminish his skills.
