  1. Welcome back Del! Yeah, S&P is tech heavy which was a good thing until this year. It has gone down to 24% which is still high. Finance has been the biggest gainer this year going from 10 to 14. Energy has not gone up a lot yet which is surprsing. I don't know how they time changes in weights. I am not smart enough to stay ahead of the curve. Otherwise, I would have invested in oil companies this year.
  2. Baddoo kind of reminds me of Granderson. He can do a little bit of everything, but can't hit lefties. He still has time to learn how to hit lefties.
  3. There will be a team or two that overachieves and makes the playoffs this year. That is one of the reasons I hate "tanking". Hopefully, this year the Tigers will be one of them. They are good enough where you can believe it's possible.
  4. Pineda is an injury risk, but it appears to be just a one-year deal, so the Tigers are not risking much.
  5. But he's out for the season.
  6. Torkelson is going to lead the team in home runs this year. Where is the Bold Predictions thread?
  7. He had a .881 OPS at Toledo.
  8. What if he puts up stats like he did all last year? What if Greene puts up terrible stats in the spring?
  9. Some are that way. Walton probably liked his truck. Many of them like to own lots of sports cars or big mansions without putting a dent in their wealth.
  10. And Torkelson at 1B!
  11. What about Greene?
  12. It can be easily looked up. I just don't know how reliable anything is since they don't show their books. One list (from Forbes) showed that all had revenues exceeding operating expenses except the Yankees and Mets. It also showed the two NY teams didn't make much much revenue which was odd.
  13. How do we know this?
  14. Not only was it her uranium, but she killed three people to get it.
  15. I think that is right. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/01/donald-trump-2016-authoritarian-213533/
  16. They would probably have to include someone like Manning.
  17. He sounds very different than he used to sound. He also used to be coherent. Shallow, but coherent.
  18. I suppose he has moments where he sounds like that, but I don't think it's genuine.
  19. The radio announcer needs to be descriptive and to have a some style. I'd rather have the TV announcer be bland. I can see what's happening. I don't need to have an announcer getting in the way.
  20. I find it really really hard thinking of him as "lower-middle-class-working-with-his-hands". He probably hates people like that.
  21. I am neutral on Joe Buck. When he is doing a game, I don't really notice him.
  22. I should say that I am apolitical with mostly liberal ideals. I don't pretend that either party cares about anyone's ideals. I have little interest in the financial side of the game and even less interest in whether the Illitch's make a profit or whether baseball becomes more popular. I think it is almost always a good thing for fans if their owner is willing to spend a lot of money.
  23. He definitely looks like a relief pitcher. He'll be pretty solid for a long stretch and say some funny stuff and everyone will like him. Then he'll blow a couple of leads and we'll all be arguing about whether he is good or not.
  24. You must be following a different saber crowd than me. All I see is them trashing owners on twitter and other places. While I generally agree with them politically, I think politics and sabermetrics should not be mixed.
  25. I think it's more accurate to say there has been a shift in the saber community from sabermetrics to left-wing politics.
