I think the anti-vax stuff and all the deliberate misinformaton is stupid, but I am not really behind mandates. Vaccines are safe and they work to an extent, but we are still getting changing reports on how well the vaccines work as the virus evolves. It's hard to force to scared people to do stuff when the information keeps changing.

It's always a big question when we do presentations or publish journal articles as to how many decimal places we should include in the tables. I didn't get the concern about credibility though. It's more a matter of presentation. What is the ideal number of decimal places to include for your audience? If we are presenting to other scientists, it's not a concern as they can round off anyway they please. If we are presenting to a more casual audience, then we usually use fewer decimal places, so they can read it more easily. I never really thought about how too many decimal places would make you less credible.

I think the checks and balances of our constitution saved us in 2020. I am very concerned with how many people seem totally OK with what happened though. Many even think it was a good thing.

I don't have a problem with the United States. I have a problem with greed, selfishness, racism, inequity, lack of empathy, etc I know these things exist everywhere, but that doesn't mean they can't be addressed. Incremental improvements are always possible.

They should still be addressed. Many countries don't have the resources to fix it. We do.

America is a very wealthy country in aggregate. Those who hold the money allow the poor to have just enough, so they won't harm the wealthy. It is very difficult for Blacks to get into the ruling class. The world is a bad place if you are not White. We focus on the United States because that is what we can control. There are big inequities that need to be addressed regardless of whether there are other countries that are worse.

Also, he gets to watch his grand children grow up. Two of them have gotten married in the last few years and they were both thrilled that he was around to see it. Too many people see the elderly slow down and think they aren't contributing anything or enjoying life, but they really do. Their lives are as valuable as anyone else.
