  1. It would be the same amount of action. However, with more dead time, there is more time for gamblers to make bets, so speeding up the game might not be profitable.
  2. Yeah, I know who he's talking about. Judging people's opinions based strictly on what country they are from is a strange way to go through life.
  3. They aren't morons. They just like home runs.
  4. I am talking about individuals having opinions, not countries working against each other One example: I think our gun laws are too lax. If some random guy from Canada says that our gun laws are too lax, I'll agree with him. If some random guy from the United States says we need more guns on the streets, I'll disagree with him.
  5. I predict there will be a scandal in major professional sports involving prop bets at some point. It might have already happened, but nobody has been caught yet.
  6. I have never understood why so many fans care about that. How much money the owners make has zero effect on my enjoyment of the game.
  7. If what they say is right, then sure I'll agree with them. Why not?
  8. I am definitely concerned about gambling. I was going to add it to my list, but it hasn't become a problem yet.
  9. The old farts would come back. The new fans want DINGERS AND JACKS AND BAT FLIPS.
  10. As much as I hate an kind of advertisement, I agree they are not really the problem. The problem is not the length of games, but the pace of games. The delays between pitches slow down the pace considerably.
  11. I remember playing crab soccer in gym class as a kid. It was boring.
  12. I was hoping seven inning games and free baserunners were going solve the problem.
  13. That's usually the only reason I watch it.
  14. That is how I got started. Then I eventually got to the point where I was watching most of the games. In the past few years, I have trended back to the radio.
  15. Multiple reasons: (1) Games have gotten too slow. (2) There is not enough action - too many home runs and strikeouts. (3) Free runners in extra innings! I can't watch that at all. (4) Too much emphasis on playoffs and that's just going to get worse. (5) Elimination of my favorite minor league teams. (6) Other stuff in my life not related to baseball. The Tigers getting better will help, but I don't like the direction the game is heading.
  16. My interest in the game has waned considerably the past few years. I still like it and continue to follow the stats and story lines closely, but I am spending a lot less time watching games.
  17. I am intrigued by the USFL, but mostly because it brings back memories. I was in my early 20s when the league last existed and I thought it was cool that a new football league started and was able to attract some star players. I don't think I'll pay too much attention this time around, although there is an opportunity to troll Patriots fans by pretending to care about it more than the NFL.
  18. Change can be good, but changes which don't address real needs are bad. There have always been changes in baseball in my lifetime - designated hitter, interleague play, free agency, etc. I haven't always liked the changes, but it seemed that baseball unlike other sports was slow to change and took years considering possibilities before anything happened. There seemed to be a reluctance to tamper with a game that was working well and I liked that for the most part. Under Manfred, things seem to happening so quickly and for no reason. Putting a runner on base to start extra innings? wtf? It seems like they don't care about the game and are just treating it like a generic entertainment event wanting to squeeze as much money out of it as they can.
  19. The Detroit name means nothing to me. If they moved to Oregon and became the Portland Tigers, I would still be a fan. You guys can root for the Detroit Wheels expansion team.
  20. You are right. He didn't call it a hoax. He said something to the effect that Democrat's ctitique of his management of the pandemic was a hoax. He was rambling to his fans and wanted to use the word hoax because his people love it when he uses that word. So, he just threw it in there nonsensically, because he's an idiot.
  21. I can't go off memory. I remember pretty much everything...but can't remember the year it happened.
  22. I think a lot of positive things that happen in the country are due to the "deep state". The government is our largest employer. Just like any large organization, there are many good employees and some bad employees. The people at the top get all the credit, but it's usually some unknown people that do most of the work.
  23. Mlicki was their ace in 1999 which said more about the rest of their staff than it did about him.
  24. That chart is usually included to show that Republicans spend a ton of money too, just like Democrats. I don't remember it being used to show which party is better at the economy.
  25. I agree it was dishonest and stupid to say that Trump killed x number of people. There is plenty enough to blame on Trump without adding that hyperbole.
