  1. For those who put stock into what the site thinks, WalterFootball released his postseason predictions today. Has the Lions going 12-5 (losses to the Chiefs, Packers, Bears, and Vikings x2). Winning the North and being the #3 seed. Beating the Vikings 34-24 in the Wildcard Round, beating the 49ers 38-34 in the Divisional Round, beating the Eagles 41-38 in the NFC Championship, and losing to the Bengals 31-24 in the Super Bowl. I guess I'd be okay with that.
  2. I think it being Northwestern probably made him more likely to be fired than had it been an SEC school not named Vanderbilt. The highest echelon of universities care about their public image, making money, and not much else. Some are better at protecting their image than others, but I don’t think Northwestern’s ultimate decision makers would hesitate for a second to burn entire athletic programs to the ground, so long as it the cost in money doesn’t outweigh the benefit to image… fresh off a 1-11 season, this was easy.
  3. Me and a buddy from school are in talks about going down to KC for the opener….. it’s only an 11.5 hour drive after all….. Football withdrawal is getting to me.
  4. Last time this board (well, the last one) universally loved a show that I ignored was Breaking Bad and I regretted it immensely when I had to catch up on the entire series plus four seasons of Better Call Saul. Think I'll learn my lesson and try The Bear tomorrow. I don't have the time nor the attention span to binge anything though so it'll probably take me a couple weeks.
  5. Or even just about social media. This is not a story if he doesn’t post about it.
  6. If you're referring to the fireworks, I think fireworks themselves are really really stupid, and are something a lot of 20-somethings do. I don't think it's any cause for specific concern regarding Jamo. I think if we had already seen what he's capable of on an NFL field, no one would bat an eye about any of this stuff, and would just want to see him back on the field. But because he was out most of last year, there is a sense of impatience that leads to us looking for signs that he is more (a star) or less (a bust) than an unknown.
  7. I’m tired of being patient (in more sports than one), but I haven’t lost any confidence in Yzerman. This isn’t Avila, where gross mismanagement was happening year-in and year-out, on an every move basis. Nothing SY has done screams “WTF”. It’s frustrating that the Wings can’t luck out in the lottery, because one win and we are probably in a much better spot than we are now. You can’t deny that we are improving, it’s just at a snail’s pace. I take his comments at face value. I think there is something to be said for not wanting to turn into the Wild, Predators, Canucks, or Oilers, just good enough to make the playoffs while not good enough to make it past round two. I want to compete for the Cup and I’m okay with it taking another year or two to get to that point.
  8. Demetrius Taylor was the identity of the (hopefully last) Lions player. He was released back in May.
  9. I heard Becky tell Sydney that Melissa overheard Aubrey in the bathroom saying that Buddha thought Lisa’s dancing was tacky and this team doesn’t need that kind of gossip or negativity.
  10. I had a drowning scare when I was like five or six years old. At a hotel for my dad’s work conference, my mom took us all to the pool. She was in the hot tub and my older brother was supposed to be watching me and my sister in the bigger pool. I tried taking my floatie off while hanging onto the side (my brother was on the other side) and sank like a rock in a split second. My mom scraped her leg bad scrambling to get to me. I was okay, but probably one of my earliest vivid memories. Ever since I’ve been avoidant of water. I won’t get in the ocean beyond ankle deep and I much prefer the hot tub to the pool. I can swim now fairly well, but I choose not to more often than not. Water is scary powerful, especially in the ocean or Gulf of Mexico where this happened. It doesn’t matter who you are or how strong you are, you can’t breathe underwater. I feel so bad for his family. Probably was with loved ones on the vacation, only for something like this to happen.
  11. Yet again it looks like they've unjustly excluded @buddha from entering into the competition. Surprised the footage of security dragging him out didn't make the cut for this video. 😉
  12. I think the question would be whether NFL defenses, with an offseason of preparation and a handful of games of tape on him, can scheme against him. He caught the league by storm last year, and I don't think he will catch the Chiefs or Seahawks napping in weeks one and two. I think there will be schemed answers for him, but only to an extent. I think opponents will struggle to scheme against preventing both sides of the line (Hutch and Houston/Okwara/Harris) from getting home. We will probably see Hutch have some weeks where he is held off of the stat line while Houston gets multiple QB hits, and vice versa. And a few wonderful weeks where they are both wreaking havoc.
  13. I'm really intrigued to see what Houston can do in a full season of work. He played like a top ten pick in the stretch of last season. Is that sustainable? I think part of his success was because the opposing game plan against our d-line was to just eliminate Hutch. With Harris and both Okwaras out, we really had nothing on the other side of Hutch until Houston came onto the scene. That said, you don't record 8 sacks and 12 tackles in 7 games without some real talent.
  14. I think this graphic is combining 2021 and 2022 somehow, with us taking Jameson Williams a year early. High quality journalism there.
  15. I don't think they would change a thing. It was Sewell back then, it would be Sewell today. People forget he's only 22 years old. He'll likely be our franchise LT for at least two contracts after Decker's deal expires, and it's not an exaggeration to say he has Hall of Fame potential if he can keep his upward trajectory going.
  16. I can see it now. Five episodes of Aaron Rodgers doing things for attention and then immediately claiming he doesn't want the attention.
  17. I don’t dislike it, I just would really like them reinvent those black alternates from the early 2000s. I think black chrome with a honolulu blue logo outlined would have looked sick
  18. Meh. They could have done better.
  19. I wouldn’t put it past the league to do so something like this. Not that they’d ever publicly announce some agreement, but the only thing the NFL cares more about than image is money. If Hard Knocks covering the Lions would make them substantially more than their next best option, and the Lions quietly said we would only do it if they’d re-evaluate the suspension, I could totally see them announcing that upon a review of the totality of the circumstances, he’s only suspended two games. I don’t think they care that much about the Lions doing Hard Knocks though.
  20. The NFL needs to re-write the months of June and July for the next season of their soap opera. The lull between schedule release and training camp isn't cutting it for me. OTAs ain't enough, give me something juicy.
  21. I would enjoy it immensely from a fan perspective but if Campbell/Holmes/Wood/Hamp don't think it's in the team's best interest (which I could definitely see an argument for), then I totally agree with declining. For instance, I'm sure a storyline would be Jamo's suspension/first 23 games of his career and the gambling suspensions generally. It's probably fair to say we have more than enough Carlos Monarrez's as it is.
  22. The Jets seem like the obvious answer of teams that can be forced, and I don't give a flying you-know-what that the prima donna Rodgers doesn't want to. I'm sure it's a much easier process for everyone involved though when you find a willing team. I'm not sure what a team is allowed to say is "off limits" from the cameras (like the Cardinals coach getting arrested last year) and what NFL Films is allowed to say too bad we want to film that anyway. But I'm sure that negotiation/exchange is much easier and creates a much better progress when everyone is okay with everyone else being there in the first place.
