  1. West gonna West. Somehow Purdue is going to lose to Indiana and Illinois is going to lose to Northwestern and we'll still wind up with this 7-5 Iowa team in the B1G Championship.
  2. That was dreadful. Almost the catch of the season and we are watching the QB chill out on the sideline.
  3. I feel like I am watching a defensive PAC-12 After Dark matchup where neither team wants to win. Nebraska may really find a way to lose this game. 24-17 and Nebraska is punting.
  4. If the Huskers finish them off, it will be Purdue's division for the taking tomorrow against Indiana... Boiler up, I suppose.
  5. A B1G West All Star Team would have a quality defense and a pretty good offensive line, but wouldn't have a QB or many offensive weapons. I think they would lose to Ohio State... Not sure how they would fare against Michigan. Would depend if they could stop Corum.
  6. With a chance to clinch the Big Ten West, Iowa just needs to beat 3-8 Nebraska. They are down 17-0 at the half.
  7. I think the question is more along the lines of whether Robinson is "special" enough to ignore a general rule that you don't draft RBs in the first round. Similar to the question Kyle Pitts raised two years ago (who I think the Falcons are completely misusing, but that's besides the point). I don't think there is any question that if Will Anderson or Jalen Carter are there, you take them. The question is more so if you have Robinson graded as a top 5 pick and the best remaining defensive player graded top 15, do you take Robinson and wait to grab one of your top remaining defensive players for the second pick? If they they think he is going to be Alvin Kamara or Christian McCaffery, you have to strongly consider it. I'm okay with the answer being no though also. I agree that RBs shouldn't usually be taken in the first round, but if that were a blanket rule you wouldn't have drafted Barry. I know it's a different era, but still.
  8. I'm a fat and lazy American who needs constant gratification to be kept entertained. It's not the sport, it's me.
  9. I don't care for soccer. No offense to those who do. The skill and endurance required is extremely impressive, it's just not for me. I really just want to see England lose to the US in a sport they care about 10-fold more than us. It'd be like England beating us in American football, though maybe not quite as extreme. Scoreboard since 1776, bitches.
  10. Leave it to the inferior football to call a 0-0 halftime score "eventful".
  11. What are people's thoughts on Bijan Robinson, the RB out of Texas? Peeked at a couple mocks this morning and at least one had us taking him with the Rams pick, comparing him to Saquon Barkley. I haven't been blown away by any (either) of the high 1st Round QB prospects. They seem to have a flaw or flaws that could prove deadly, which is a dangerous proposition for a pick you hang your regime on. Plus they probably won't be there anyway, they'll likely go 1 and 2. I like the later 1sts/2nd round QB prospects more (Hooker, Richardson, Levis, maybe Jefferson or Penix), as possible franchise QBs with less risk than a Young or Stroud. I don't think we will be giving Swift any sort of meaningful extension and Jamaal is on his contract year. If we are sticking with Goff for at least one more year, I think his success is directly correlated to the talent that surrounds him. Even beyond that, if we do take Hooker or Richardson (or whoever), their success in late 2024 is also going to be predicated on the talent around him (see Trevor Lawrence, see Mac Jones). I'm not usually a fan of 1st round RBs, but I can see the appeal of putting in a true RB1 bell cow behind this line and between ASB and Jamo. And you'd still have three picks across the first two rounds, plus free agency, to plug-and-play with the secondary (LB and CB especially) and/or take a future QB.
  12. Malcolm Rodriguez and James Houston may have been our two best defenders yesterday - both 6th round rookies. Gotta tip your cap to Holmes and company. That just isn't done in the NFL.
  13. Given they still had timeouts it may have been worth their time to try and draw Buffalo offsides. I don’t think Campbell lost us this game. If anything he kept us in it. I think Campbell is a very good motivator, an excellent leader, and an okay game day coach. For where we are as a franchise right now I think he’s perfect. -edit Fine a perfect coach would be perfect in all facets. I have no complaints though.
  14. I’m confused too. If his assistants are upset, I’m okay with some amount of public outcry. If no one on their staff cares and this is just speculation based off of the results of a FOIA request, I don’t really care how Michigan State distributes the entirely excessive amount of money Tucker is receiving.
  15. I think Goff is who we thought he was. He’s putting together a body of work that the expectations are clear. He’s not going to carry the team on his back. He’s not going to win you the game. He won’t make a ton of mistakes. And with a good supporting cast, you’ll probably win a fair number of games. As others have said, if Chark catches that pass, we aren’t thinking about how it was a poor decision. And frankly, if the receiver on the other end was someone better than Chark, they probably catch it anyway. I set my expectations before the game that I wanted a competitive game. Doesn’t make the sting less, but we definitely got a competitive game. I think - if they continue on this trajectory - this could be one of the best teams in franchise history next year. Holmes is really impressive.
  16. Probably need to go 5-1 the rest of the way to be a playoff team. 4-2 might do it with some luck elsewhere. Jaguars, Vikings, Jets, Panthers, Bears, Packers I am pretty confident they are better than at least 4 of those teams. Still a tall task.
  17. FWIW Campbell looks better than either McCarthy or Daboll right now.
  18. Y’all have been holding on to these for far too long.
  19. It’s probably majority Lions pretty much year-round. With how bad the teams have all been for the last decade, the rest fluctuates with who is showing any inkling of promise, or when there is topical news (like Miggy’s chase for milestones or Avila getting canned). The topic of “who will be good again first?” Seems to come up weekly.
  20. Growing up, I liked Caputo a lot. It may have been just because he wrote for The Oakland Press so he would shoutout the local high school sports scene. In the last 5-10 years though, it’s just been clear he doesn’t even watch the games anymore.
  21. That’s fair. I did answer my own question. It feels like it’s more than the UM/MSU piece, because I hate listening to him talk on the Lions too. All the same though. I am not a fan of Stoney either. I think CBS was smart to put him on the morning show, where it’s less sports and more talk. I would also put Caputo in that category. I think there are drunk uncles out there who do are more knowledgeable about today’s game than Pat Caputo.
  22. I disagree that ratings correlate to quality in sports talk radio. I think Valenti knows how to drive up ratings, and he’s a master at that craft. Tip of the cap for that. I really like the 10-2 slot on 97.1 with Doug and Gator. They’re generally intelligent and can carry a four-hour conversation, which is no easy task… they also have great chemistry together. I find Valenti to be borderline unlistenable oftentimes.
  23. Listening to Mike Valenti whine, moan, victim blame, and whatabout is something else… there are rational takes and then there is yelling at callers to shut up when they ask you what Michigan did to deserve it. He went off the deep end long ago, but it’s sad that he’s still given this platform.
