Yes!
I believe the law started in 1978 and broken glass - which was everywhere - virtually disappeared overnight.
Prior to the bottle return law if you fell on public property - park, school, etc. - you didn't get hurt from the impact - you got cut - sometimes quite badly - by broken glass.
The reason there was so much broken glass everywhere is prior to the bottle law if you happened to find a glass bottle anywhere you picked it up and threw it against the hardest surface available until it shattered and simply walked away.
I have no idea why that was done but it was.
Once the bottle return law was passed, you never saw a glass bottle or broken glass anywhere ever again.
