  1. Lomas Brown was on NFL Radio the other day. His preference given the circumstances is to run Glasgow at center this season. Certainly seems like the most viable option. Here’s Hank Fraley’s chance to show how good he is.
  2. Sad to see. Hard to believe it’s been seven seasons already, and unfortunate it was only seven. But thanks Frank for a stellar run. Those are big shoes to fill.
  3. Not a single Red Wing in the top 37 vote getters for Selke Trophy.
  4. Morton was with Detroit in 2022. I have a hard time thinking that he would come back, or that Dan would let him back, if he didn’t expect to pound the hell out of the ball.
  5. The defense will be better because they won't have an IR list full of enough guys to make up a starting lineup that would be a top-fifteen unit in the NFL. My hunch is that the offense will be less explosive but will do more to protect Goff. In retrospect, Ben Johnson did some auditioning for a head coaching job when he should have been focused on game context.
  6. They were good enough to win the Super Bowl in Week One last season. They ended the season with a full starting defense on IR that would have been one of the top 15 defenses in the NFL. Just a historically bad injury run that coincided with what was shaping up to be a historically good season for Hutch.
  7. It's not that it's surprising they don't feel he's ready, it's that he had the opportunity laid out there for him to take and he wasn't capable of doing it. Not good.
  8. I heard flotsam and jetsome are each asking for four years AAV $4.5 million. It's a crazy market! The turnstile in goal is a problem, so it is even more alarming that Cossa does not appear to be in their immediate planning for next season. I hope they let Danielson play in the NHL next year, and I hope they let Kasper get some time at C.
  9. 4-3 at the bye, 12-5 overall. Offense probably won't average 33 points a game again, but the defense will be improved this year at every level.
  10. This article has a good run-down of the value of the Teslaa trade based on multiple different value charts: https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2025/4/25/24417284/detroit-lions-massive-trade-isaac-teslaa-near-even-value-nfl-draft According to the Jimmy Johnson chart, the Lions came out ahead. The consensus of five other value charts used was that the Lions came out behind by the equivalent of a late sixth or early seventh round pick. Maybe Holmes got out in front of his skis, but the article MB posted shows how and why Teslaa was a late riser. It seems likely that at least one and maybe multiple teams had designs on him in the 70-90 range, well before Detroit's pick 102. I don't remember hearing stories about anyone planning to take Brodric Martin.
  11. It’s time for Darren McCarty to confront Gary Bettman.
  12. “Based on data and math.” Trust the science.
  13. I don’t post on this side a lot but I’m glad to see Javy and Tork turn it around. And I’m glad to see the haters eat crow.
  14. https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2025/4/21/24413017/3-ways-nil-changing-detroit-lions-nfl-draft-process Interesting article about the impact of NIL on Detroit’s draft strategy. Basically, NIL is keeping talented underclassmen in school a bit longer, meaning the past two drafts have not been as deep.
  15. This is a good point. Still, I assume that if the staff liked what they saw of Hooker in practice and in his limited game action, they would not have felt the need to bring in Bridgewater, though the SF debacle from a few years ago where they lost two QBs probably also contributed to their decision making.
  16. I watched the first fifteen minutes. Maybe I didn’t see enough but what I watched I saw pretty much what I’ve seen from Steve before. He doesn’t like the press, he doesn’t like missing the playoffs, and he doesn’t like lack of accountability. That was all on display. I also didn’t see any tension or disagreement between Steve and Todd. I got the sense they coordinated their messages. Boys, it is time to grow up. You are making a lot of money. You could have made the playoffs and you should have made the playoffs. Dylan, you wear the C and bitching to the press is unacceptable. I thought it was fair and reasonable and expected.
  17. One other thing that occurs to me about this draft is that Dan Campbell came up through Saints/Sean Payton tree. Their offense was based on an immobile but accurate passer in Drew Brees, who has a lot of similarities to Goff. Those Saints teams were always very strong in the interior OL. In their Super Bowl season they had Jonathan Goodwin at center with Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks at guard. All of them had at least one Pro Bowl season. Later, when Campbell was there, they had Max Unger at center with Andrus Peat and Larry Warford as guards. They also all had one or more Pro Bowl seasons. Goff is just completely helpless when his IOL misses blocks or assignments. Guard was an urgent need.
  18. Also on Williams.
  19. I assume they signed Teddy Bridgewater going into the playoffs last year because they didn't trust Hooker. This was another Holmes special, buying low on an injured or otherwise undervalued prospect. Maybe he will develop into something, but just like Martin, it is not a good sign that they had to bring someone in to his position.
  20. Sorsdal was a miss but I don't hold it against Holmes for missing on a 5th round guard. Martin was a head scratcher. So was Hooker for that matter. But these Rams guys have a knack for uncovering late round WR talent. And Holmes has earned the right to trust his gut in finding undervalued players.
  21. And I bet his daddy wants to whoop him old school.
  22. Seems like the consensus is that the Baltimore Rapists had the best draft.
  23. Yes OL is the engine of the team. Sadly Glasgow had the worst game (per PFF) of any Lion in the playoff game last year of anyone not named Jared Goff. They could not roll him out there for another season.
  24. Yes Holmes drafts for need but unlike the media, which just remembers that Detroit could not get pressure on Washington in the playoffs, Holmes remembers that they have Aidan Hutchinson coming back. And he probably has an understanding with Zadarius Smith, in addition to some solid pieces already on the roster. Edge is not as big of a need as the media thinks. McNeil is not coming back until around Halloween. Reader is year to year. Defensive tackle is an urgent need. Zietler is gone. Glasgow is depth at this point, not starter material. Guard is an urgent need. Tim Patrick is year to year. Jaymo may not get a second contract here. WR is a need.
  25. This must be Rod Wood's pick. I can imagine he is angling for the Lions to play in the first NFL game in Cairo.
