The thing I’m worried about most is that we will have to play Stafford, Hurts, Allen, or Mahomes without Hutch, at least as a third and long option.

Can’t recall seeing a game end on a walk-off punt. Were you not entertained? Great game. -

Also, the Rams are going to finish with double digit wins. Assuming they hold on today, that’s 7. They have SF, NYJ, then Arizona and Seattle both at home. -

Yes, but look at Buffalo’s wins: Arizona, Miami (2x), Jax, Jets, Titans, Seattle, Indy, KC, SF. Detroit has played (and beat) a lot of those teams but the only playoff caliber win on their schedule so far has been (a weak) KC. They got blown out by Baltimore and lost to Houston. AFC is not good this year. If Buffalo was in the NFC North they’d be fighting GB for third. -

Hey this guy Matt Stafford is pretty good. And I guess this is what a 10-2 team looks like in the AFC. -
I’m not a doctor, but by all accounts it was a clean break and I haven’t heard of any concern that the bone is at risk for further injury. It seems the issue will be strength and conditioning. If he is cleared for practice during the playoffs nobody will be able to keep him out.

Week Fourteen: Green Bay Packers (9-3) @ Detroit Lions (11-1)

Good stat. It brings into focus how demoralizing it is for a defense to try to stop this team. You get us on third and short? Now try again. With the strength of this offense, I assume that all of the generic analytics stats the networks display when MCDC is going for it on 4th down dramatically underestimate the team’s expected win percentage. A 4th down call that would be calculated as a 50/50 proposition based on all teams, all scenarios, all time, might be a 60 or 70% success rate based on the skill and execution of this offense. I presume MCDC has proprietary data on this. And I presume if the national pundits could see it they wouldn’t be having so many conniptions. But then again that is what they get paid for. -

Vikings fans are delusional too. Just heard on NFL Radio: “I’m not afraid of Detroit. They are teetering.” Well, their fourth string defense just beat the Packers. If that is teetering, I’ll take it. -

I believe the Lions have won 7 of last 8 against the Packers. Yes, they are a tough team to play but every team is tough in January. Listening to Packers fans call in to Adam Schein, and they are all talking about how they should have won but the Packers made mistakes. Well, Goff threw and INT deep in his own territory. Campbell went for it on 4th down deep in our own territory and the team didn’t convert. The fact is that the Packers were in the game due to Lions mistakes. -

Agreed. Bates wins it with a late FG, 31-30. -

Well, up until last Sunday Lamar was the front runner. And he deserved to be. I don’t think he is anymore. Too many downs where he looked like he didn’t know whether he should stay a passer or become a runner. Then Josh Allen had the dramatic prime time game in the snow. Goff’s Thanksgiving game was fine but the story was the failed comeback rather than any heroics by Goff. It is true that the media has given Allen more hype than he has been to in his career and has not given golf as much credit as he has been to. But there is still a lot of football left to be played. also, this is a big if, but if Goff averages 21 for 25 in each of his last five games, that would put him past Drew Brees for the highest completion percentage in a season in NFL history at just over 75%. It would be hard to deny him the MVP if he set that record, but with the tough slate of games coming up, that seems a lot less likely than it did a few weeks ago. -

Good find on the receiving stat. Again, I don’t disparage either player. They both deserve to be considered in the MVP race, as does Lamar (though his last game and the team’s overall record diminishes his chances). The MVP may hinge on the Detroit-Buffalo game. Assuming Goff and Allen continue to perform as they have been, lot of voters splitting hairs between them will look at how they performed head to head. -

Not to disparage Goff but did you see the conditions Allen played in the other night? Goff has been in perfect climate-controlled conditions every game this season but one. Again, Goff has delivered, but I’m glad Ford Field has a dome. And Allen seems tailor-made for Buffalo. -

Call an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees now. Fire Manuel before the game is over. The team's performance this season has been unacceptable, but this display in this game should do it. -

Warde Manuel should be fired for hiring Sherrone Moore to follow Jim Harbaugh and a national championship year. He is in far over his head. This is an utterly embarrassing display. -
