  1. Maybe that stop saved AG from getting fired at halftime.
  2. Defense can’t stop mobile QB. Check. MCDC making aggressive calls out of pure anxiety. Check. Goff turning the ball over. Check. Recipe for no success.
  3. I don’t know what kind of crap I’m seeing right now.
  4. And if he doesn’t produce today he is not even guaranteed another chance this season.
  5. It is clearly Goff. (If you take Jonah Jackson out of the equation. 😉) Yes, he has had a couple of those games where it's felt like he is a deer in the headlights (with Jonah out), but then you step back and look at his overall numbers in those games and they are still good, with the exception of a few bad plays. But he is consistently executing the offense, delivering the ball with elite accuracy and touch. And last week against NO he did a really good job of buying time in a collapsing pocket.
  6. Detached thumb? Might miss a game.
  7. If there is another GM who traded up to pick two rehabbing players in the last three drafts, please let me know.
  8. No, not every player is injured when they are drafted. And some GMs don’t go out of their way to pick players who are literally rehabilitating from surgery. Holmes traded up to pick rehabbing players Williams and Hooker in two of the first three years of his tenure. I also forgot he picked the rehabbing James Mitchell who has 229 snaps in two seasons. He has a track record.
  9. McDermott is melting down.
  10. I’m not saying Holmes likes injured players. What a weird fetish that would be. I said he bets on injured players which is exactly what you said. I just happen to think it is delusional to assume that there is zero risk in buying low. If there was zero risk, you wouldn’t be able to buy low. Holmes wants to buy low. It’s fine as a strategy and he might end up winning more than he loses. But his account is in the red at this moment.
  11. Just heard Alex Smith on Sirius XM NFL Blitz talking about Philly’s defense. Relevant to Detroit’s defense. Paraphrased: “I can see when Philly’s opponents break the huddle what defense Philly is playing. They are arrogant. They think their DL is good enough to beat you one on one. They don’t mix up coverages. Any decent OC and QB can handle their vanilla scheme and pick them apart.”
  12. You can apologize for Holmes all you want, and he deserves it since he is already Detroit’s best GM ever. But you can’t sit here and tell me that he doesn’t have a thing for betting on injured players. He does. And you can’t tell me that a guy coming off an ACL was not an injury risk. He was. Maybe his bets will pay off overall. So far they have not.
  13. Nevertheless it is not zero, which Holmes and the medical team must have known. Also since Moseley is five years older than the oldest age in that database, it would not be unreasonable to assume that his risk for injuring the other ACL was higher than the 5-7% range The point is not that Holmes made a mistake in signing Moseley. It is that Holmes does, by now, have a track record of gambling on players with an injury history. Levi will need a miracle to avoid being a bust. Jaymo is in the middle of his second season and is still just getting settled. Moseley obviously didn’t work out. Hooker remains to be seen. There might be an argument to include Josh Paschal in this with the cancer surgeries in college. But even without him, Holmes still has a clear track record of taking chances on injured players.
  14. Yes. I seem to recall a lot of consternation about the Spielman hire. “What’s his role?” “They need to hire a GM first!” But Sheila hit a home run with that Spielman hire. He seems to be an honest broker between ownership and the football side. Millen could have done that, and established accountability on the football side, but WCF was not astute enough to know he needed that.
  15. Not a fluke. "Tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in one knee means you have an increased risk of tearing the ACL in your other knee." Holmes's medical staff must know this. https://acltear.info/acl-reinjury-risk/contralateral-acl-retear-risk/
  16. I don’t care. Sheila might. After all, they didn’t pick Carter.
  17. I doubt she is a meddler, but I also suspect they get Sheila, Spielman, and Wood in a room if they are going to make a significant personnel decision. It’s a mature and responsible way to run an organization and this leadership group is finally mature and responsible. Signing a lightning rod of a player like Suh would amount to a significant personnel decision in my book.
  18. Something tells me Sheila wouldn’t want Suh back even if he wanted for it to work.
  19. I put Marinelli 3 because he wrestled a bear with no sense of irony.
  20. Campbell got asked about Suh. Said Holmes had looked into everybody. Didn’t specifically rule it out but it seemed like that door was shut.
  21. I’m ready to call it already. DC is the best coach the Lions have ever had and Brad Holmes is the best GM. Caldwell was a good head coach. The team was competently run. Wayne Fontes… Rasputin… there was always a little bit of circus side show to him.
  22. “Come on DL. Step it up.” “Come on AG. Step it up.”
  23. Maybe the defense will finally start to improve against mobile QBs.
  24. Yes. Moseley was a roll of the dice. Holmes rolls the dice a lot on injured players, and the return has generally been bad, though Jaymo is starting to bring the juice we were promised. But starting the season it would have been hard to imagine the team might only get 200 snaps out of Moseley, CJGJ, and Houston combined.
