  1. Yes. I seem to recall a lot of consternation about the Spielman hire. “What’s his role?” “They need to hire a GM first!” But Sheila hit a home run with that Spielman hire. He seems to be an honest broker between ownership and the football side. Millen could have done that, and established accountability on the football side, but WCF was not astute enough to know he needed that.
  2. Not a fluke. "Tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in one knee means you have an increased risk of tearing the ACL in your other knee." Holmes's medical staff must know this. https://acltear.info/acl-reinjury-risk/contralateral-acl-retear-risk/
  3. I don’t care. Sheila might. After all, they didn’t pick Carter.
  4. I doubt she is a meddler, but I also suspect they get Sheila, Spielman, and Wood in a room if they are going to make a significant personnel decision. It’s a mature and responsible way to run an organization and this leadership group is finally mature and responsible. Signing a lightning rod of a player like Suh would amount to a significant personnel decision in my book.
  5. Something tells me Sheila wouldn’t want Suh back even if he wanted for it to work.
  6. I put Marinelli 3 because he wrestled a bear with no sense of irony.
  7. Campbell got asked about Suh. Said Holmes had looked into everybody. Didn’t specifically rule it out but it seemed like that door was shut.
  8. I’m ready to call it already. DC is the best coach the Lions have ever had and Brad Holmes is the best GM. Caldwell was a good head coach. The team was competently run. Wayne Fontes… Rasputin… there was always a little bit of circus side show to him.
  9. “Come on DL. Step it up.” “Come on AG. Step it up.”
  10. Maybe the defense will finally start to improve against mobile QBs.
  11. Yes. Moseley was a roll of the dice. Holmes rolls the dice a lot on injured players, and the return has generally been bad, though Jaymo is starting to bring the juice we were promised. But starting the season it would have been hard to imagine the team might only get 200 snaps out of Moseley, CJGJ, and Houston combined.
  12. Do my eyes deceive me or does Chase Young have just 15.5 sacks for his career? He is a bust.
  13. Philly is clearly weaker in the secondary this year without CJGJ. Detroit is also weak in the secondary without CJGJ. But SF had this game circled on their calendar.
  14. Many of us have been worried about Goff’s recent turnovers but he is throwing these balls into tight windows. These are impressive throws. And how about that catch on third down by Jaymo. A lot of trust from Goff to throw that ball.
  15. The Jets have four sparks contributing to their dumpster fire. They drafted Wilson. They didn’t send Wilson packing when they traded for Rodgers. They didn’t seriously have a backup plan for Rodgers. They burned the bridge with Wilson. The first three are on Douglas. The fourth is on Saleh. It would be a raw deal for Saleh if he ends up the fall guy. But at this point I don’t blame Wilson for not going in. His OL is not going to protect him.
  16. What is the deal with fans who want to see players and coaches publicly humiliated or “taught a lesson”? It’s bizarre.
  17. Is Tolstoy posting here now? One of those posts was longer than War and Peace.
  18. I love watching sloppy football. Is Ragnow heathy? Maybe I agree with you. But Fields is hard to bring down.
  19. In half a season Fields already has almost as many rushing yards as Goff does in his whole eight year career. They are different players asked to do different things. Goff is not asked to handle the ball as a runner, and nobody seriously believes that he is particularly skilled at doing so. He has some moments, like yesterday, when he buys time in the pocket and makes a play. He also has times where he doesn’t. To acknowledge this, and to assume that a QB who is as skilled a runner as Fields is may be better suited for play in the snow and swirling winds of Soldier Field is not to say that Fields is better than Goff, that Goff sucks, that we should trade them straight up, etc. For this season (and for his career) Goff averages 35 passing attempts per game. If it is snowing and windy at Soldier Field on Sunday, or in any other start in Goff’s career or in any other QB’s career, I, as a fan, would not want to see them drop back 35 times. For the record, I think you make a very good point that Goff may have elevated some coaches, as much as many think coaches have elevated him. I also think you have a good point about selection bias in that we overlook similar mistakes by other QBs. Nevertheless, I hope Goff isn’t asked to drop back 35 times on Sunday at the Bears. If he is, that will not bode well.
  20. Yes. I cringe enough watching Goff scramble in good conditions. I don’t relish the thought of him trying to hang on to a wet ball with cold hands while navigating a broken pocket on a slippery field.
  21. Looks like rain Saturday in Chicago turning to snow on Sunday. I love watching football in that kind of weather. I hate watching Jared Goff in that kind of weather.
  22. This is the worst case scenario. Which means it will happen. 😂😑
  23. Deebo with 7 touches, 138 yards, and 3 TDs.
